How Could this Happen

Recommended Posts

Da Killer

I am a major fan of the Grand Theft Auto Series but every time i get a new game for PS2, I play it for a while and then it doesnt work anymore. It lodes up and when the game is about to start, the screen goes black. I have played my Vice City game on XBOX more than Vice City and San Andreas for PS2 combined. Maybe my PS2 isnt that good anymore but all my other PS2 games work on it. Please Help.

could be scratch on disk.. .could be something up with PS2...

If you have a scratch on your disks, run a bit of toothpast or chocolate on it with a soft cloth... buff that for a while and it will get rid of the scratch...

How does toothpaste and choclate help the disks. I would think they would ruin them.

It was joke obviously...

If you put a f*ckin' Hershey Bar on your Grand Theft Auto games it's

gonna just make a round chocolate frisbe...

And your CD's don't have teeth so brushing them with toothpaste

would obviously ruin the damn cd...

Ozzy not that great of a joke...

But if you were to tell it to newb...It just might work...

It is not a joke...

there are particles in toothpast and chocolate that "scratch" away tini bits of the disk surface and eventually remove the scrath... Though it does not always work with large scratches, for the majority of scratches that a disk pickes up from simply lying around or from being dropped, it will do hte job...

You simply put a bit of toothpast or chocolate (iv always used toothpast but have been told chocolate also works) on the disk and buff it with a soft cloth... it may take 10-20min but it is worth the work to repair the disk...

Ill find a link to a site that will explain how it works full if you still think im joking... (or Uin_B can back this up as he also knows of the method)...

EDIT: If you go to THIS SITE and read the 5th paragraph down you will find out that toothpaste works... here is that paragraph if you jsu twant to read it...

"As the CD's contents are preserved, a scratched CD can be recovered by polishing its plastic surface. If, after carrying out the above cleansing, the CD persists in giving reading errors, just polish the CD with toothpaste. That's right, toothpaste. It works wonders, and you won't spend a fortune buying professional cleaning kits. Polish the scratches with a cotton swab, rubbing gently the paste-imbued swab over the scratches until they disappear or until you notice that you have removed them as far as possible. Sometimes the paste may cause new scratching, but it will be merely superficial and easily removed. After clearing the scratches, wash the CD in water."

Hmm...I'd recommend a small bottle of disk scratch remover (can't remember the name). Put a small amount on a soft cloth and work outwards in concentric circles around the disk, adding more liquid as/when necessary. After a few treatments, all but the deepest scratches will be fixed.

Alternatively, buy a Disc Doctor - put the disk in, give it a few turns; job done! biggrin.gif

After that, get a SMALL cotton bud/Q-tip, and gently clean the laser lens in your PS2.

You should be playing again in no time!

Putting toothpaste and chocolate on your disc is something I'd never do. It would ruin your disk I would have thought until now.

@Luke2004 & Gela, using toothpast or chocolate does seem crazy to some less open minded people... but Iv done if with a few of my CD's and tehy are fine... you jsut have to remember and clean the toothpast back off the disk before using it tounge.gif
