RichD Posted July 1, 2005 Share Posted July 1, 2005 I hate the way, in the Ambulance missions, the patients run into you when you've stopped to pick them up, and fall over as if you've hit them. Then, to make matters worse, they continue to lie there until you move, risking the possibility of actually running them over and failing the mission. I still haven't passed the Ambulance mission due to these time wasters - it's so much harder than Vice City. It's funny, that; like someone said in reply to my post earlier, for most of the game the goddamn kamikazes will chase and chase you, but towards the end, it did seem to ease off a bit... PerfectDark Posted July 1, 2005 Share Posted July 1, 2005 haha I haven't had cars chase me for ages, the last time cars chased me was near the beginning of the game, maybe that kind of AI gets disabled near the end of the game because they never chase me anymore, they just get out of their car with a melee weapon and attack me. now that you mention it, I haven't had that happen to me ever since i guess i opened up Las Venturas...that -is- kinda odd.. I don't want it back, that place sucks. CJ worked hard to get all those awesome things and Sweet makes him give it up because it doesn't make him "gangsta" or whatever. CJ made it out of the sh*thole, and then Sweet drags him back in. And Sweet acts like a god damned retard, he can't follow worth anything, I can't do any of the end missions without "You have lost Sweet, go get him." More like, he needs to learn how to follow me because I am not his babysitter, and I will not hold his hand past every damned fence, every damned hedge, and ever damned street corner. You'd think have three games and nine releases they would have figured out some decent pathfinding. A "RUN IN THIS DIRECTION TIL YOU FIND CJ" system doesn't work in a city. I really hate the way the end of the story goes, I would rather not have to wait around for sixteen minutes waiting for Ballas to spawn so I can shoot at them to start a gang war. You would think that if a gang held a territory, they would actually send someone out to protect it. If they ever put this crap back in the next game there should be some sort of system for squating. As in if I sit in a territory for a certain amount of time and no gang comes to protect it, it is mine. I hate missions that are based on luck, and that is all of what some of Sweets final missions are. You'll love this. The stupid f*cker ran in front of me when I was sniping the Ballas guys. I had these ballas guys in my sights, I was picking them off and Sweet decided that this was the time he was going to walk in front of my gun. By the time I had moved out of the way the Ballas guys had deposited about 500 bullets in me. Eventually survived and then Sweet walked in front of me again. You are right the guy is a f*cking cock. Other annoying things. i) Traffic AI. I am pissed off with all the f*cking pile ups all the time. Every single traffic light. I am pissed off with being rammed from behind by some Linerunner when I am going full pelt on the highweigh. ii) Girlfriends. Nice idea but too much f*cking hard work. iii) Gang wars and the fact that the 'hood' always comes under attack when you are in the middle of something. iv) The camera angles when driving, the fact it takes so f*cking long for it to adjust. v) The Oyster and Photo Op in the naval base. WTF. I'm sorry but that is just bullsh*t pure and simple. I wouldn't mind if you had to get the cop uniform like in VC. As I think other people have said when it comes down to it I prefer VC. They only thing I hate is they way i have to drive-by on xbox. And the things I have to do for my girlfriends. Also, when i was doing taxi missions, the AI drivers crossed a whole lane to turn down a different road instead of already being in the right lane. That cost me a b*tch load of tips. I mean, they could hit the walls with top speeds without falling. 2. Gang members that you recruit. Always getting into my way while I'm shooting with the AK, and of course, CJ hits them, and the ballas get close enough to kill me. 3. Getting forced to do the courier mission after collecting some important things. I couldn't save, and I was in a hurry at the time. 4. There aren't that many missions in the game. In fact, it felt like there were less of them than in Vice City. Anybody else have this feeling? I beat the main story in three days... 5. The ending was too short. And the last mission was too easy. Actually, every mission in this game has been easy for me, even Supply Lines, which I won on my first try. Don't understand why people find it that hard... The only hard missions are the school ones. I can get 100% only in a couple of them. Otherwise, this was pretty much a great game. Still working to get the 100%... It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't already know that there are at least 2 MORE different characters that we could choose from if R* let us.... Remember in one of the cut scenes near the beginning of the game? Sweet is talking to Carl and there are, I think 4 Grove members behind him and 2 of them are different looking and do not appear on the streets after that cut scene. Just a taaad more variety would have been nice. Oh yeah, not to mention just a taaad SMARTER gang members who would actually HELP you on Gang wars! - How it takes so long to open up clothes stores to go to and get haircuts, tattoos, and different clothes. You almost have to run around as a bum (with that wife beater and blue jeans) for a number of missions before Binco opens up and then for a while you can only shop from Binco. - OH yes, and I wish when playing basketball when you went up for a dunk the mesh would actually MAKE A SOUND! instead of silence It just doesn't sound right. Well Basketball in general is almost a useless opetion. They should have either added a couple more elements like a game of 21 if you play 2 players or let you go as far back as you want and see who can get the farthest basket by launching it down!!... The fact you're the driver 80% of the time and only 20% of the time you're the shooter... (I LOVED the mission where some Russians came after me and i had to shoot 'em all) 5. Phone calls 6. But when it hit me it stayed ontop of me and my health kept on going down, like what happens with trains etc. [edit] oh yeah and when u get a cell phone call when your being shot and can't run fast or fight back. stockwiz Posted July 3, 2005 Share Posted July 3, 2005 (edited) -Handling of cars... so many cars in the game, and they handle so poorly I traveled almost exclusively by motorcycle the entire game until I had access to planes, then I flew as well. Takes forever to work up a good skill level with autos too boot. Mine's still below 40% and I'm near the end of the game. -People jumping into your car and getting run over. -People honking for no particular reason -When the game would lock up for about 5 seconds, then my screen resolution would change to something outside the monitor's range, forcing a reboot. -freefall mission.. modified the file to make the dodo go faster. All in all the game is still great, and looks great when everything is maxed out and antialiasing is upped, frame limiter disabled. edit: oops... I said supply lines when I meant to say freefall... actually I found zero's missions to be quite easy, but then I am pretty good at flying, even with the pc version. Cartoon Corpse Posted July 5, 2005 Share Posted July 5, 2005 i'd have to say, not being able to drive your 'cool' cars to go on missions mostly. cause they get lost after the cutscene and you have to drive some other car (not so bad except yours disappears). you have to jack some "don't care about it" car to drive to missions. i'd prefer everything to leave or mess with stays that way ( as much as your pc has capacity to handle)... ever car you park 'legally' remains there, while ones you leave in a right of way, disappears as they do now. There I am playing the good consumer and spending my serious cash by gambling, and I keep hearing the same songs! 2) If I want to play video poker, I have to press return to see the dollar amount for that particular machine. Can't it just tell me what the limit is before I decide to play it. The reason I say this is that I only want to play the $10,000 vp machine and I have to check out each group of machines to find it. Even in my own casino! 3) When I am at the Red Dragon, I find the security there to be a bit more vocal against me. "Who do you think you are?" and "I bet you're a tough guy" or similar comments. Can't I just fire them for mouthing off! 4) I did find that I could talk to peds but if you are not quick enough, you won't respond and truthfully the answers are generic. 5) why can't I blow up the tram in SF? 6) Okay, I found a way to make some extra cash in LV by placing a satchel charge on a ped. Then I follow them until they are around a lot of people and set it off. This is a great way to make some cash but how do the police know that I am responsible for such an evil deed? How do they know it isn't just a suicide bomber? 7) I am glad to be able to swim but how come I am the only one in SA that can? Is it something that is only taught in Liberty City? 8) I want to hunt down Catalina and her new boyfriend and send them the wood chipper! Quit calling me! I am getting a brain tumor to the amount of time I spend on the huge friggin' cell phone talking to her! 9) I want more buildings open in LV! Plus I want the restaurant open the Red Dragon... I am hungry... give me the buffet please! 10) I want to go to Jizzy's club but it is now closed... 11) There was not enough Woozy... I needed more of his comic relief... he made me piddle in my pants! 12) Whenever you have to do a chase, you always get the worst piece of crap in the world to drive. Might as well give me a Faggio and let me run wild! 13) Am I the only that gets annoyed by the Sharon Stone looking chick (the blonde all in white in LV). I love to beat her to death with a dildo! 14) Ped intelligence got smarter (like comparing retards v. vegetables in IQ) but I do get annoyed that if you go to strip club and touch one of the dancers, the bouncers come out shooting... but if I jump the bar and touch the bartender, no one cares... in fact, the bartender apologizes for bumping in to me. 15) Truth looks like George Carlin to me... 16) I get hungry too quick... and I want to go to a steak place instead of fast food... 17) The whole Sweet thing of not giving back to the hood crap... does he not realize I did more for Grove Street guys than anyone? I took over every friggin' territory while the rest of them sat on their thumbs... yet, I experience a bit of success and I am acting uppity? Brother or not, he is an ass! 18) KROSE? Who listens to this? Yet if I play pool at the bar by Area 69, I have to endure it... 19) on one of my gang raids to take territory, I spent the better part of 15 real time minutes waiting for one group of three to quit spawning in to a bridge... I would see them spawn and fall... over and over... until I just sat there with a gun and finally shot them (after repeated attempts) as they fell... 20) Police copters... can I hear a bit more dialogue than the 6 discussions they have? soleil Posted July 5, 2005 Share Posted July 5, 2005 I have read through this whole thread and no one has mentioned this: When you have recruited more than one gang member and you get in a car, they only get in one at a time, each guy waiting for the previous guy to get in before he does... even though the car has more than one door that they can use. In fact, once I recruited two guys and got in a car. Then the guy who was closer to the car waited for the guy who was farther to get in first. I did think of another (and I think it was mentioned before) but is it a rule that no matter what car you take in any of the cities, you have completely bald tires that makes you slip and slide around corners like it was pure ice... notice that no one else has the problems you do (they have other problems but nonetheless not the bald tire situation).
