Copying now?

The new SA site has just launched for MTA:SAand I just found this on the website and I quote..

Initially, we will be releasing a game mode with very basic synchronization enabled and will continue by releasing small but frequent updates. This will enable users to have more input into our development and will allow us to experiment with ideas and implement new features much more quickly.

Aren't the MTA team now copying what the SA-MP had decided to do? Discuss.

nope, its been the teams intention for a long time.

Who cares?

It's no big deal, let MTA do their thing and SA-MP do theirs. Jesus christ.

adam broke it.

exactly, why WOULDNT you want to make a mod for sa, they did it for gtavc on demand the community was expecting one for SA anyway. its just like saying GTAC is a copy of mta

I would have to agree. Although a lot of the teams are doing similar things, we all have slightly different goals in mind. I think there is enough room in the community for all of us and I am sure we will all attract our own users. There is a lot of talent spread amongst all of the teams out there now, so it will be really neat to see what everyone comes up with!

I didnt imply that it was a copy of a modification for SA (you should read more carefully). It was more towards the point that MTA are releasing a modification quickly after SA release (just like SA-MP) rather than go for 100% synchronisation toward a release..

Remember that (afaik) the team are juggling both MTA:Blue for vice city and San Andreas, i find this a reasonable explanation for the change for SA

But why is it important? If there's to be any proper competition between the multiplayer mods then speed is of the essence for all those taking part. That means that both mods want to produce something before the community get bored, it's common sense. Not producing anything or updating for ages just makes your community drift away as they stop checking and looking for updates. 100% synchronisation and no bugs for a first release is basically impossible, the very nature of how a multiplayer mod is made results in lots of crashes and requires extensive testing -- the community are the best people to find the bugs you've got left after making something stable, it would be nice if there were no bugs or the numbers were kept down but it can't always happen that way.

I wouldn't have expected any group to come out and say "In a year we're going to release our final that's rock solid". The fact both groups have similar plans basically says nothing.

adam broke it.

Now why on earth would MTA try to "copy" SA-MP? Simply because they have the same plans, doesnt mean they are copying eachother, as Smithers said. Just like if 2 people drove their car side by side as fast as eachother, does that mean they are copying eachother? of course not. You should think before making a thread like this.

People are trying to create unwanted negativity between the two mods. I'll be playing both, bash me all you want for saying so, but who can be the judge of two unreleased multiplayer mods other then the developers themselves.

Eh?

If that´s so then GtaT, Gta: Connection are copying SA-MP´s ideas to? dozingoff.gif

How could that assumption ever be made in the first place? Both GTA:T and GTA:C have been known before SA-MP... sigh.gif

Yeah. Just to fill some people in, I worked on MTA:Blue, periodically, between September 2003 and late 2004. The last time I was on the team I made some attempts to make sure it would be easy to port Blue over to San Andreas. So, I've known about MTA:Blue for San Andreas for at least 9 months.

While I was on the MTA team I had many disagreements with other team-members about how the mod would work and how the gameplay would work. This happens simply because different people have different tastes in multiplayer games. Some people like shooters, some like bf1942/military style games, some prefer RPG, RTC etc. I decided I was not willing to put in my time for the style of mod they wanted to make, and now I'm creating my own mod. There's no negative aspects, it's just a matter of different tastes.

The way I like to do things is clearly different from the way the MTA team like to do them. This means there's a high chance that MTA:SA and SA-MP are going to be quite different from one another. And when you take a game like San Andreas, there's really alot that can be done with it.

If I was simply someone having purchased San Andreas for PC and was looking around for different mods, I would be so happy that there was at least more than one multiplayer mod to choose from.

Some people would probably think that having some competiton would put both teams under more pressure. Well, with something that is freely available to download the exact opposite is true. Nobody has the right to complain about a piece of software when there's a freely available alternative.

Lastly, I'll just add that I do still talk with some of the MTA:Blue developers from time to time and we're both quite clear on our positions.

P.S. I hope this puts to rest any MTA vs SA-MP arguments.

How ignorant of you to post something like this right after kyeman said he didn't want MTA/SA-MP arguments.

If you're going to compare the two, the least you could do is make the correct comparison; Blue (not 0.2) and SA-MP. Better yet, don't make a comparison at all. If you're going to note publicly why you prefer SA-MP over Blue, do provide a less misleading reason.. otherwise other people -

biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif  I agree!

- will be bound to follow your footsteps, agreeing on false information.

Oh, so that´s why.

If you knew that Kyeman respects and were in the MTA team, you probably wouldn´t start this topic.

I think this will be good competition for both teams. Atm i think MTA:SA maybe winning cuz of MTA:VC and GTAIII:MTA but I think that SA-MP will storm MTA:SA as your pictures and stuff look quite neat tounge.gif
