Well he did make a promise to his late mother that he would retire before he turned 41 and I think his birthday is pretty soon but don't know exactly when..If he wants to cash out with one more fight I bet it would be against Roy Jones Jr, that'd definately be very big.

@ D Jones- Best drunken boxing I have ever seen in my life, I had some friends over and we've never laughed as much as we did while watching a fight. I'd definately watch Sam Soliman any time wink.gif

For about the first few rounds, I'd figure that Wright would just lay out Soliman, because Soliman was moving in slow motion. But no matter what, if you keep punching a guy, the hits will take a toll eventually. Winky Wright looked like he was in a brawl after the fight, although, Sam Soliman is a good boxer with a weird technique.

He looks like he can knock a guy out, especially one like Soliman. But eh, still a good fighter.

Valuev barely beats Ruiz, I scored the fight a draw but yeah the fight was in Germany so I doubt Ruiz would ever win a decision there. Valuev isn't much better then Ruiz..he actually could be worse (maybe defending against non deserving contenders only in Germany which I really think he will do). Ruiz atleast did fight the best out there, Don King has 50% of each of Valuevs next 4 fights so he is basically gonna cash out on Valuev.

Been very slow in the boxing world lately, tomorrow there will be two undisputed title fights. Zab Judah faces Carlos Baldomir WBC Welterweight Title, even though Judah holds the IBF,WBA, and WBC titles he's only risking the WBC. If Judah beats Baldomir (which I think he easly will) he is slated to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. for the WBC Welterweight belt on April 8th and this is a megafight if you ask me. I still want to see PBF face Hatton but Judah is practically a mirror version of PBF with more power.

Weights for the fight tomorrow:

Zab Judah: 1st attempt: 148(over the limit) 2nd attempt: 146

Carlos Baldomir: 1st attempt: 146

Also on the same card tomorrow night, WBA/WBC Crusierweight champion Jean Marc Mormeck faces IBF champion O'Neil Bell for the undisputed crusierweight championship. The thing I find interesting about this fight is that both of these guys said if they win, they will move up to heavyweight and try their luck. Jean Marc is targeting Lamon Brewster if he wins and O'Neil Bell is targeting James Toney..I don't think either would be much of a factor at Heavy, but it will be interesting to see how well they do.

Weights:

Jean Marc Mormeck: 197

O'Neil Bell: 199

My predictions:

Judah TKO 7 Baldomir

Mormeck KO 9 Bell

Zab Judah is a idiot. All he was doing was making mistakes for why he lost. Blaming your promoter to go against not a great boxer, isn't his fault, and I can assure you that Don King didn't tell the judges to judge the match wrong. He lost, and this is a good example to workout for every fight.

Good fight, but Zudah deserved to loose after what he did at the beginning (hitting Baldomir and not shaking gloves), and with all the headbutts. I laughed my ass off when I seen his own crowd boo him.

This is what happens when you take your opponents to lightly, pretty good card to start of 2006 if I do say so myself. Anyway, here is the 7th round of Judah-Baldomir where Judah gets hurt bad after the 1st minute of the round.

Oh, and Bell vs Mormeck, pretty damn good fight. I still don't believe Bell defeated Dale Brown some months ago but full out respect for knocking down and stopping Mormeck, who is a beast tounge.gif

Morales-Pacquaio, who shall win this?

Damn, Pacquaio knocked Morales out in the 10th round, I thought Morales would win another UD against Pacman..I can't wait to catch the replay of the fight next Saturday on free HBO (it will be televised before the Arturo Gatti-Thomas Damgaard fight) Pictures of Pacman-Morales courtesy of Fightnews

I want to see a Zahir Raheem vs Manny Pacquaio fight, it will be very interesting to see their styles match-up against each other. I hope Raheem would get a decision but Pacman would have a good chance at KOing him.

Ok here is my 2 cents as i havent posted here lately.

First of all Zab Judah is nothing but overrated.

Baldomir showed it like Tszyu and Spinks before him did and Mayweather is gonna exploit that and beat Zab so easily that Zab will look like a lost child in that ring.

Mayweather after this will hopefully fight either Ricky Hatton or Antonio Margarito.

Zab was never the best Welterweight in the world.

He just had the titles.

Antonio Margarito is the best man and the man to beat at 147.

Second of all i just wanna praise Manny Pacquiao for a deserving and wonderful knock out win over Erik Morales.

I was one of the guys that was cheering for him to win and i was also a guy who doubted he would win.

But im glad he proved me wrong and beat Morales.

The key to Pac's victory was going to the body more and slowing Morales down for the later rounds and thats what he did.

James Toney vs Hasim Rahman is the next fight im looking forward too.

I think James will prevail on a onsided points win over Rahman and become the only 3rd Middleweight Champ to become a Heavyweight Champ.

He has done before but was stripped of the title after failing a steroids test all because he used anabloic steroids to heal a nagging muscle injury.

Rahman has the power no doubt but he is too slow to beat James Toney,James Toney can slip punches(esp right hands) with ease and he also has a very good chin too,He is too skilled for Hasim Rahman and will outbox him over the 12 rounds.

Yes, Judah was overrated but I don't think Baldomir is that good..I won't be suprised if Gatti fought Baldomir and beat him, and Gatti isn't exactly in his prime anymore. I saw the first round of Gatti-DamGaard then had to go but it was pretty boring, action probably picked up later in the fight but I do know that Gatti TKO DamGaard in the 10th or 11th round. Maragarito may be the best in 147, but he needs to start fighting more and better caliber.

Pacman is definately exciting to watch, I don't want to see Pac-MAB 2 because it's going to be the same exact fight as the first one except quicker. Pacman is getting better and I believe MAB will soon be feeling the affects of his wars with El Terrible. I would really like to see Pac-Raheem because the style contract would just be great, but Raheem is probably going to face Acelino Freitas for the vacated WBO title (vacated by Diego Corrales) Maybe after that fight, we can see Pacman against Zahir.

Rahman has the power no doubt but he is too slow to beat James Toney,James Toney can slip punches(esp right hands) with ease and he also has a very good chin too,He is too skilled for Hasim Rahman and will outbox him over the 12 rounds.

Rahman's power is so overrated now, he got that one punch on Lewis but what else has he down to demonstrate his power? Why couldn't he knock out Al Cole or Monte Barrett if he is so strong? I like Hasim Rahman but James Toney is going to make him look like a clown for 12 easy rounds. 120-108 will be the end score. Maybe 119-109 just because JT takes a break in the 12th round tounge.gif

I'm not that excited for Mosley-Vargas, maybe because it's a PPV...

During a baby shower last, last saturday, we pretty much watched the Boxing match with Pacquiao and Morales. Yeah man, since we're a big filippino family, we were all up for the Pacman!

My only problem with him is tha when he see's and opening he goes for it and then backs up while the guy is still open. He won and yeah, that's pretty much it. ROCK ON! inlove.gif

I now wanna see a Pacquiao-Barrera rematch.

Does anyone think Pacquiao would do a repeat on Marco Antonio Barrera??

Or will the classy Mexican really show his class and outbox the man from the Philipines??

I like the way Pacquiao bounces in and out of his opponents range while throwing fast and powerful combinations.

Thats how he destroyed Barrera and Morales.

Its the best way he can fight because if he stays in his opponents range like he did in the first Morales fight and in the fight against Marquez he will get countered.

Pacman will destroy MAB again and I always liked MAB. MAB's wars with Erik Morales will affect him and I think Pacman will just beat the crap out of MAB this time. Just my opinion of course tounge.gif

Eh, I think the Vargas-Mosley fight would of been f*cking amazing a couple years ago..but now Vargas is more mature which isn't a good thing if you think about it. The reason I loved Vargas before is because he went all-out whenever he had the chance, taking a big risk in losing..the new Vargas is more conservative and while he is more efficient you could say, not the same El Feroz I'm used too. I was also a big 'Sugar' fan and was supporting him to beat Oscar De La Hoya both times (and I'm glad he did too) but yet again..not the same guy he used to be. I think this has potential to be a hell of a fight but I wouldn't get my hopes up. I only consider buying PPVs which are good main event fights and a very good undercard, the main event is so-so and I think the undercard is..well..not so good at all tounge.gif

My prediction: Sugar Shane Mosley SD12

Sugar Shane Mosley def.Fernando Vargos 10th Rd TKO

Eh, I am bloody tired right now so I will add my description of all of todays fights probably tomorrow. But I do definately need to say that Mosley-Vargas fight was stopped due to swelling on Vargas's eye..you know that doesn't sound that bad..right?

That's one hell of a swelling!! Just to add some pride to my ego (wink.gif), scores of the fight before the stoppage were Mosley 86-85 on two cards while Vargas was up 86-85 oon the third card..thus if the fight would end, it would of been a Mosley SD and...

My prediction: Sugar Shane Mosley SD12

smile.gif I love boxing inlove.gif

Edit: So before I go to bed, I need to show you guys a knockout clip from the undercard of Mosley-Vargas..The clip is from a heavyweight fight between now 28-0 fighter Calvin Brock and a strong heavyweight 'gatekeeper/upset artist' in Zuri Lawrence. It is very hard to look good against Lawrence and nothing really happened until the 5th or 6th round (forgot which) when this happened..

Fight Night Round 3 looks AWESOME inlove.gif I saw my friend play it and damn, has to be the best graphics I've seen in my life..is the game out on PS2 yet or what? I must know nervous.gif The one thing I wish is that they add MORE fighters to it, I LOVE how they added Marvin Hagler, Oscar De La Hoya, Floyd Patterson, and others but in doing so..they took out Floyd Mayweather Jr, Miguel Cotto, Lennox Lewis, etc. I loved being Mayweather Jr in Round 2 so its disappointing to see that he's not in the game, especially since he is considered P4P (pound for pound) #1 in boxing. Oh well...game still looks sick though, oh and here is a link to all the boxers in Round 3 incase someone is interested smile.gif

@Cuse- Lawrence is the guy that got iced, Brock is the one that threw the hook. It's interesting though because Brock isn't exactly known to have one punch knockout power, he does have 22 knockouts in 28 fights but they are usually accumlative punches knockouts. Rumours has it that Calvin Brock is going to fight Eastern European prospect Timor Ibragimov (20-0-1, 12 KO's)..oh and the '1' means a draw, not loss incase someone is confused. Timor Ibragimov is pretty much a mirror image of Brock and it should be an interesting fight if it comes off. It will be televised by HBO's 'Boxing After Dark' (it's not PPV, thank the lord!)

P.S. Brock is also in Fight Night Round 3, pretty interesting..didn't think he would be in it considering he's only a prospect. Although, Vicente Escobedo is also in it and he's just a prospect with 9 fights...hmm.

Alright so there is a possible FOTY candidate this weekend. Jeff Lacy vs Joe Calzaghe, televised on Showtime. This will be a hell of a fight, both undefeated Super Middleweight Champs..Calzaghe has fought some good fighters but he hasn't really fought someone like Jeff Lacy in a while. I always liked the aggresiveness of Lacy though, so I predict a KO/TKO in the 7th round for Lacy, making him the WBO/IBF champion. I hope the winner of this fight fights WBA champion Mikkal Kessler, which would also be another FOTY candidate.

Joe Calzaghe's Record

Jeff Lacy's Record

Also on March 4th on free HBO, Miguel Cotto vs Gianucla Branco but this fight will probably be a Cotto KO, the more competitive fight is definately Lacy-Calzaghe. smile.gif

Bah, bloody Americans! Because of you the Calzaghe fight is starting at 2am here on TV in England, even though it's in England! tounge.gif

Will be tight between Calzaghe & Lacy, obviously I want Calzaghe to win as I've watched a lot of his fights over the years & along with Clinton Woods (local boy) he's one of my favourite fighters. However I predict a Lacy victory either on points or from a late KO. Be great if Joe knocks him on his arse in the First Round though. biggrin.gif

Well Joey...

Burning-Ice is slightly upset

Well I will be honest with you guys, I thought Lacy was going to f*cking destroy Calgazhe, Joe was always a good fighter but he always seems to fight on his opponents level and not his. Calgazhe DESTROYED Lacy, it was just a brutal one siding beating. I don't even want to talk about how bad it was..Calgahze even floored Lacy in the 12th round I believe..Here's an excerpt of the fight from Fightnews;

Calzaghe reigns supreme at 168!

Saturday, March 4 2006

By Craig Watt at ringside

WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe (41-0, 31 KOs) has remained the longest reigning champion in boxing and added the IBF title in the process with a very impressive unanimous decision over Jeff Lacy (20-1, 17 KOs) on Saturday night at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England. The quicker Calzaghe had a strong first round landing numerous hard shots, while Lacy landed a few good shots himself. Lacy came out for round two with a bloody nose. Calzaghe continued to connect in round two while dodging Lacy's big bombs. Calzaghe continued to be very accurate in round three while Lacy hit mostly air. Lacy was cut over both the left and right eyes in round four as Calzaghe continued to put on a boxing and punching clinic. Lacy can out strong in round five, but Calzaghe continued to get off first and tattoo Lacy. By the end of the round Calzaghe wasn't even bothering to keep his hands up. Calzaghe's dominance continued in rounds six to eight and Lacy now needed a KO to win. By round nine, Calzaghe was taunting Lacy. Calzaghe was deducted a point in round eleven for holding. Lacy came out looking for the knockout in round twelve, but it was Calzaghe putting Lacy down to punctuate the greatest fight of his career. Scores were 119-105, 119-107, 119-107.

Calzaghe has my full respect now if he keeps fighting like this, I hope he doesn't go back to fighting mediocre opposition though..Calzaghe fought amazing wow.gificon14.gif

In other news, I had the pleasure of watching Puertro Rican 140 lb star, Miguel Angel Cotto easily dismantle Italian Giancula(sp?) on HBO. Cotto fought very smart and was patient, eventually getting a TKO in the 8th round (I believe) Cotto's people should give him 2 more fights before trying to make a fight with Ricky Hatton (hell of a fight that'd be because of Hatton's and Cotto's styles) and/or Floyd Mayweather Jr. (I personally think this is a bad fight for Cotto, Mayweather's style is practically a blue print on how to beat him) If a Cotto/Hatton fight is made, I would most certainly buy it if it's a PPV..Hatton is an exciting fighter smile.gif

Yet another fight, quite a busy day eh?, was in Germany between hard-hitting Arthur Abraham and veteran Shannon Taylor..well Arthur pretty much dominated and won an easy UD, I believe the scores were 120-107, 120-107, and 120-106/7(forgot the last score) Abraham is a very solid fighter from what I've seen, he could possibly give Jermain Taylor a hard fight at 160, time will tell wink.gif

Jeff Lacey... over-hyped and too strong for his divison. If he wants to win, he better spend more time at the speed-bag instead of lifing weights, because he simply got out-speeded. Speed wins against power, as long as power doesn't start, and Jeff Lacey never did have a chance. But the ref, I thought, ruined the whole f*cking fight.
