Wish I could have seen the Peter fight. Oh well, I'll probably look for a clip of the knockout online. It's not illegal to post video highlights in here, right? Because I know there's that whole thing with music...

I'm not sure but if you go on MSN, I can give you Round 2 (the KO round) of Sykes vs Peter, I find it amusing how hard Sykes was trying to clinch onto Peter but Peter just kept pushing Sykes back like he was nothing. If Peter would fight Ruiz, I believe Peter could win this fight because Ruiz likes to clinch a lot but he won't be allowed too against Peter. However, I think if Peter fights any of the champs other then Ruiz, he would lose because he is still too raw and lacks skills. The guy is like a tank though, I would definately want to be in the same ring as him.

B-Hop and Taylor is this week! I'm going to stick with my newfound prediction and say Taylor wins this by UD. I'm a Hopkins fan but I think his age will affect him in this fight and Taylor will come up big.

I think Danny Williams vs Matt Skelton is this Saturday as well, I think Williams will regain his Commonwealth title and TKO Skelton in the 7th. Also, Amir Khan is fighting.....well I forgot who he is fighting but he will definately win it since he's probably fighting a tomato can fighter.

I think the Hopkins-Taylor fight is the 16th, so 2 weeks from now. Even though I don't like ordering PPVs (I'm assuming this is) I might have to pay for this one. I think it will be a great fight.

My money is on Hopkins, but anything could happen.

I think Taylor will be super nervous, and he hasnt really fought anybody worth mentioning. Hopkins is more than just a step up in competition, its stepping up to fight the best fighter in the world.

But Hatton defied that logic against Tszyu.

I think Bernard will be much more aggressive than his last couple fights to surpise a few people. UD most likely.

DId anyone see the Augustus vs Olivera fight on Friday Night Fights?? I must say, Augustus is pretty good and from what I hear, most of his losses have been very controversial. Olivera suffered pain from the back of his head and kept grabbing it during the 8th round. The referre stopped the fight and Olivera was taken to the hospital. I feel bad for the guy...I kept thinking why didn't his corner throw in the towel. Augustus was a class act though, when he noticed Olivera had pain on the back of his head, he stopped punching his head and was just hitting the body.

Agustus is okay, but hes still not worth a world title.

I just rewatched his fight with Floyd Mayweather, which Mayweather calls one of his toughest fights ever. Its still pretty much a no contest but Augustus puts up a good fight. He has lost like what, 15 or 25 fights?? No way there can be more than 7 or 8 really controversial fights, or something would have been done.

Anyone that saw him get robbed against Courtney Burton witnessed perhaps the biggest robbery of all time.

It is official, Kassim 'The Dream' Ouma has lot to Roman 'Made In Hell' Karmazin (yes that is his real nickname). What a suprise, the tape of the fight is delayed on the west coast so I will see it in 30 miinutes but apparently Ouma was down twice in round 3, lots ofpeople believe Ouma would beat Winky Wright (I don't know how people could even think that) but it looks like Ouma has taken a step back with this loss. This is like the year of upsets.

Wow, I can't believe Ouma lost. I thought he was on the verge of becoming a great boxer, but I guess he'll have to wait a little longer.

Well I just checked some betting sites and B-Hop seems to be the favorite on all of them over "Bad Intentions" Taylor. I think Hopkins will win this and stay champion for maybe another year before his age catches up with him, and then Jermain will take his spot. Are you still going with Taylor, Ice?

A lot of stuff has happened today, Amir Khan wins his first fight by TKO 1, Danny Williams pulls out of his fight against Skelton in a last second fashion. He gets replaced with someone whom I forgot his name, Krence I believe. Skelton TKOs him in 7..or 8..whichever. Abraham defeats Eastman by UD.

And then there was a big middleweight fight between Jermain 'Bad Intentions' Taylor and Bernard 'The Executioner' Hopkins. I'm pretty sure most people here *cough* menace and cuse *cough* said Hopkins would win, sorry guys, this time you are wrong wink.gif Taylor beat Hopkins via Split Decision, scores were 115-113, 115-113 Taylor, 116-112 Hopkins. There is also a rematch clause on the contract so don't be suprised if we see a rematch by January of '06. This is a suitable picture to end this post;

Yea Yea Hopkins lost..... And I lost $50.00.....

Both fighters came out with to much respect for one and other..

Taylor established his jab first

Id say round 1-8 Hopkins only won 1 round and there might have been a 2 tie's at the most in there somewhere.. but they did go back and forth.

Then in the last 2 - 3 rounds hopkind tried to win the fight, and it did look like he might of hurt taylor a couple times.

But at the end of the day, Taylor brought the skills & hopkins brought A bag of dirty tricks and sack of show boatin' and the judges couldnt score both....

From what I heard, Hopkins waited too long to go on the offensive. Apparently he was beating up Jermain in the final rounds. I hope they have a rematch, so I can show Ice my superior winner-predicting skills tounge.gif

Oh yeah, I'm going to try to download the fight so I'll put more insight in later once I've watched it.

Hopkins will win the rematch. That would be a perfect way to end a career, winning a rematch in which you lost the first match. B-Hop is going to train harder and is more determined now that he thinks that judges 'robbed' him. I think at best, Hopkins could of gotten a draw, he didn't do enough for a win other then the last 3 rounds.

Well there will be a rematch, and Taylor said "now that he knows how hopkins fights..He is going to knock him out in the rematch."

Also the odds in las vegas were at 50/50 for those who fallow those.

Hopkins said he should have won...he shouldnt have won but it SHOULD have been a draw....there is no way Taylor won that 12th round and one judge gave it to him....if that judge gave that round to the rightful winner, Hopkins, that fight would have ended in a draw. 115-113 Taylor; 116-112 Hopkins; EVEN ...

Pretty much everyone agreed that Hopkins and Taylor split the first 8 rounds evenly and Hopkins won the final 4 rounds...

Rematch is gunna be great.... Taylor will probably work on his stamina and learn how to pace himself a little knowing that he isn't gunna knock Hopkins out early...so soften him up a lil more... before he attacks so much with those power shots....

what i dont understand tho is how everyone thinks Taylor had such a better fight....throwing punches isnt what determines who wins....if you look at Hopkins at the end of the fight...no marks....now the only cut in the fight was the acciodental headbut...but other that that Taylor's face was brused up...

I finally watched the Hopkins-Taylor fight (HBO showed a replay tonight) and I agree it should have been a draw. Taylor fought hard, but Hopkins definitely won the last round. Even so, B-Hop isn't fighting for a draw, he was fighting for a win, so it was bad strategy on his part. If this were a street fight, Hopkins would have won because he was healthier at the end and wasn't damaged as much as Taylor. But in boxing, it's every round instead of just the end of the fight, and Hopkins started fighting way too late. I would expect that from a younger fighter, but I would think that an experienced champion like the Executioner would know when he needs to start fighting in order to come away with a victory.

Even though Hopkins did not have a great strategy, "Bad Intentions" Taylor still fought well. I give him credit fighting a the whole fight hard, instead of just a third of the fight hard as Hopkins did. He will be a great fighter for the next decade or so, even if he loses the rematch with B-Hop.

Taylor is what, 20 something with 20 something fights?? He has shown us nothing in any of his previous fights that he can adjust or change up his style, especially in a rematch with Hopkins.

If Taylor had the answer, he wouldnt have gotten dominated for the last half of the fight. Hopkins had him figuered out.

If they have a rematch, Hopkins takes it no question. Unless he pussies out for the first half again, he will know better than that in the rematch. He's is argueably the smartest figher on the planet.

Amir Khan is over rated I think. Audley Harrison won a gold and came back, knocked crap boxers out and then the fans began to realize he was just hype. Same will happen to Khan unless they give him a fighter that is too good for him, and shows him just how good he needs to be. Hurt him into becoming great.

Dude...the guy is friggin 18.. If his managment is somewhat smart they WILL put him against fighters who he is SUPPOSE to beat. Yeah Audley won gold when he was I think 29? There is a big ass age difference between the two guys. Let them bring him up slowly, all of the 'legends' have been brought up slowly and then explode onto the scene, Khan will do the same. As long as he doesn't do what Naseem Hamed did and doesn't let the 'movie-star' fame get in his head, I think he will be great.

Yeah man, its far too early to make that assumption. Audley has already has his chance to step it up and still never has. The only fight I hear about him being in recently is a possible Riddick Bowe matchup.. confused.gif

Khan still has his entire career ahead of him.

Id like to see Harrison and Peter tie it up. So many people are on Peter's nuts but he is terrible besides his lumbering bombs. I think Harrison could make a better name by outboxing that oaf.

I like Harrison and all but his managment is f*cking stupid. Audley is scheduled to fight a true legend....Robert Wiggins dozingoff.gifrolleyes.gif I think the fight is in August on 'The Best Damn Sports Show' broadcast on FSN. Sam Peter is trying to get a fight with Wladmir Klitschko (great fight that I would actually look forward to).

In other news, another sh*tty Pay Per View has been made, Ray Mercer vs Shannon Briggs (Mercer is like 44 for f*cks sakes), David Tua vs Cisse Salif(who the f*ck?) and other lazy heavyweights who have no talent along with one of the crusierweight 'champions' O'Neil Bell (he won a controversial decision agaisnt Dale Brown month or 2 ago in which I and most people thought Brown won) will face some other crusierweight who I don't know. Enough with the sh*tty PPV cards..

I hear Chi is dropping out of his fight with Rocky Juarez due to some injury, just rumors at the moment though, I hope this is not the case because Juarez vs Chi was going to be a great fight IMO.

You know what? Of all fights, I think this one is the one that is guarenteed going to be awesome again the second time around.

It was argueably fight of the century first time around, so topping that would be almost impossible but I still think that this is a pair that will always produce the best fights.

I hope Castillo wins this time around, Corralles pulled some ridiculous stunt spitting his mouthpiece so blatently. I like both fighters but since those incidents had such a huge impact on the outcome, I hope Castillo forces the rubbermatch.

I think Shambra Mitchell and Zab Judah are fighting for the unified welterweight title in September, any predictions on this fight?

Judah by easy UD or TKO. I think if they do end up fighting, Judah will try to make a statement as he has already been trying to do to anyone lately. I think he's changed alot.

Mitchell is also slightly overrated. But I dont think he's as fast as Judah.

I guess Thomas Hearns won his first comeback fight. By KO I think. I doubt the comeback will last long though...

Demetrius Hopkins (who I talked a month ago I think), Bernard's nephew, won again last night by KO. His record is now 20-0 (although he had a controversial decision over Al Gonzales, the fight I was at). This guy is going to be a great boxer within a couple years, especially when Bernard retires and can have more time to help him out.

Jeff Lacy TKOs Robin Reid in round 7. I'm too lazy to say what happened in the fight so here is an article from fightnews about it. Let me just say that even though Lacy was going to win that fight no matter what (I'm talking about this after the first couple of rounds had started)..the ref was utter sh*t.

From Fightnews:

Lacy overwhelms Reid!

Saturday, August 6 2005

By Chris Cook and Aaron Dye at ringside

IBF super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy (20-0, 15 KOs) scored a seventh round TKO over Robin Reid (38-5-1, 27 KOs) Saturday night before 15,056 at the St. Pete Times Arena in Tampa, Florida. Lacy got off to a slow start, while Reid was able to connect with several right hands. The fighters banged heads several times as the fighters clinched. Lacy had a big round three, rocking Reid with hard shots, and a low blow which Reid needed time to recover from. Both fighters stood their ground in round four, with Lacy continuing to land hard shots. Reid's uppercut was also landing. In round five, Lacy floored Reid as referee Jorge Alsonso was breaking the fighters. Alonso ruled it a knockdown, then deducted a point for a headbutt. Lacy floored Reid again at the end of the round. It was the first time in his career Reid had been on the canvas. Lacy floored Reid for the third time in round six. Alonso deducted another point from Reid in round seven for holding. Late in the round, Lacy dropped Reid for the fourth time. The gutty Reid beat the count again, but his corner stopped the fight after round seven. A fight between Lacy and WBO champ Joe Calzaghe for November of this year is said to be "all but done."

Calzaghe vs Lacy ought to be a good fight IMO.

The Heavyweights weighed in today for Saturdays fight card. Rahman weighed in at 236 (good for him) and Barrett at 224 (decent for Barrett considering he is always under 220) I think Oliver McCall weighed in at 235 which is great for the guy because hes 40 years old. I hope he does well against Saleta even though Saleta sucks tounge.gif
