SA on ps3

Recommended Posts

well you know how on ps2, the textures dont laod in time and u end up smashing into invidible buildings? well if ps3 is backwards compatible and has much more power, then when you play San andreas, will the textures load faster...Because right now the brushes dont laod untill your a few yards away and it looks fugly...

Now i know everyone will be playing gta4 becasue ts probably going to be a launch title but still, what do you duys think??

Probably not, DigitalChaos.

@Topic Starter: Definately Not. Because the disk was programmed to match the PS2's power, so they wouldn't waste extra money to have something in it or more draw distance for something that can't handle it. Notice how when you play a PS1 game on the PS2, the graphics, Framerate, and textures don't get better?~M$&9$~

realy it all depends on the games programing and what the actual bottel neck is, if the problem is that the hardware isnt fast enough or powerful enough, sure you might see a proformance boost, if what macsand has said is correct then it still depends on just how much they "degraded" the programing to match the hardware.. id say as long as theres not a 100% match from what the program is telling the hardware and what the hardware is telling the screen, there might be some improvement, but like i said this would only be the case if the hardware is holding the program back, if the program is made to run the way it is currently running on the ps2(meaning theres no struggling from the hardware side) you will not notice any difference

It most likely wont happen in the PS3, seeing as it will have much more power than the PS2. The PS2 is very old now.

SystemOverload

If it is backwards compatable, it will most likely run at the same speed that it does now. It will probally have a PS2 chip in it so you can play the older games, just like PS2 had a PS1 chip in it. The only problem might be that the PS3 might use Blu-ray discs and I am not sure if the drive would be compatable with the DVD format. It should though, seeing how popular it is.

Pardon my ignorance, but hasn't BW Comp. already been announced as a positive feature? So it's not a matter of if..well..actually it is, but..a different if.

Yea they have confrimed that u can play PS2 and PSX games on the PS3 so SA will be able to play on the PS3. Also i dont really no if the textures would load faster or not if u played it. It b kool if it was like that and the loading times b less but we wil have to wait to see.

Simon.

It has a high chance of fixing that, the PS2 has options of fasterload times, smooth textures etc. for PS1 games.

So I imagine Sony has incorporated the same technology/software into the PS3, possibly better.

But yeah you'll just have to wait and see biggrin.gif.

No Kippers. We're talking about how you can play PS1 games on the PS2 and if you can play PS2 games on the PS3, would SA play better than it did on the PS2.~M$&9$~

No - this topic is asking about how San Andreas (the PS2 version) might run on the PS3.

Apparently some of the graphical glitches in the game are solved by playing the game from the PS2's hard disk since the data is transferred much quicker in comparison to playing from the DVD. I think it's safe to assume that the PS3 will have a much quicker DVD drive than the PS2 but it still depends on how the PS2 emulation works - if it forces the PS3 to match the disk speed on the PS2 then you probably won't notice any difference at all.
