Lots of poems are metaphoric, usually most are. Just go into google and try searching for 'poems' and you should find something. Most poems tend to be metaphoric and not literal.

 

Metaphor:

 

a figure of speech in which a word or phrase literally denoting one kind of object or idea is used in place of another to suggest a likeness or analogy between them (as in drowning in money); broadly: figurative language--compare simile

 

Here's an example:

 

Broken heart; broken heart is a metaphor because it literally doesn’t mean that you're heart is broken, it's a cliché thats come to be known and used quite frequently, a metaphor like broken heart suggests a deeper meaning that you feel torn, sad, depressed, gloomy, empty...
