has anybody taken a close look at the eject symbol on the PS3? is it just me or is that a touchpad thing and not a button?

it's also kinda cool that there's no disc tray by the looks of it.

f*ck the fact that the controller looks weird. Will it be confortable. It looks pretty comfortable. Yes the Duelshock was the best, but who knows, this might be better.

PS3 Price Revealed?
According a an article published in the May 17th edition of Japan's Mainichi Shimbun, the PlayStation 3 could be one of the most expensive mass-market videogame consoles ever created. Officials from Sony apparently told the newspaper that PlayStation 3s would sell in Japan for "less than 50,000 yen each." That translates to about $465 US dollars.

Sony unveiled its next-generation console at the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2005. The beast of a machine utilizes the powerful Cell processor, a custom-designed graphics chip by Nvidia, and 512MBs of RAM for a quantum leap in performance. The system will also be the first-ever to support high-def movie-playback out of the box, taking advantage of the upcoming Blu-ray Disc format.

Sony claims that PS3 will be roughly 35 times more powerful than PS2. If Mainichi Shimbun is correct, gamers will be asked to pay a hefty price for the high-end functionality.

IGN was unable to validate this news with Sony officials. Stay tuned for more as the story breaks.

Damn, I know the PSX was expensive... but the PS3 at that cost?

Ah well, not much of a surprise. I think the Xbox 360 may be able to get an advantage now.

Oh, and some 'info' about the Spiderman font.

PS3 and Spidey Unite!

F1 on PS3

This is a video of the new F1 game due on the PS3. It's still a work in progress, and the cars look weird as they go around corners, but fisi's crash looks awesome. The crowd is pretty good.

Goodfella.

The Spider-Man movies have earned Sony over 2 Billion dollars to date, the games sell hella well so maybe the Spidey games of the future will be exclusive the the Playstation?

It's been confirmed that the only in-game footage was the Unreal 3 and the EA montage in the Sony Press Conference. I'll try to find a link.

Ah. I expected the Unreal 3 to be real, seeing as I've seen the capabilities of the engine before, and the bit with moving it around on the screen helped.

400$-500$ huh? Looks like im not going to be eating for awhile. confused.gif

It's funny. The PS2 was released at a price of $670 here in Denmark, though most of that is taxes and sh*t. So I guess the price will be correspondingly high.

So, looks like I'll be paying... whatsthat.gif~az

Sony said 'under' 50,000 yen. They havn't exactly given it a proper price mark yet. I would take a guess though for the final price to be around $400-450.

Sure, it'd be expensive, but they wouldn't go overboard with the price (hopefully).

377.862 CAD should be your usual price for new consoles.

We get totally screwed over. It'd be like $400 or $500. The exchange rate doesn't mean sh*t. The stores just tack 100 bucks on and calls it good.

LOL, 700 Euros! I can believe that because I was in Amsterdam over spring break and they were selling Ace Combat 5 for 70 Euros, that's f*cking 100 US Dollars!!! For one game!

I'm glad I don't live in the EU. fpheww.

About the graphics not being in game action, read this carefully:

In the 1 1/2 hour conference they demoed the Unreal Engine 3 and zoomed in and panned and swiveled the camera all over, demonstrating that in 3 months the people at unreal ceated f*cking amazing stuff in real time gaming action. That's amazing. In a years time those other games will look perfect. Did you see the video for I-8? That was real time, and it rocked.

I can't wait!

They'll probably either stay at $50 or go to $60 like N64 games were. Sounds kind of reasonable anyway.

ps1 games - $40 (most at least)

ps2 games - $50

ps3 - $60
