Finally! I have been looking at Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas site almost every day then I got tired of it so I stopped looking. Cause they said info for the PC and Xbox version was coming soon on December 19th. Anyways, high resolution screens for the Xbox!! Can't wait for the videos!

Thanks for the news d8cam19 for telling us about the IGN preview (which was posted on your site).

IGN's Exclusive Screenshots:

GTA: San Andreas for Xbox Screen #1

GTA: San Andreas for Xbox Screen #2

I wonder if Gamespot will have a preview of the game soon, too.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You know anything about this d8cam19?

The funny thing about the PC site of San Andreas is that it has the "PC CD-ROM" logo at the bottom... I thought it was going to be a (confirmed) DVD-ROM only release... dozingoff.gif

Heck those XBOX screens look great!!

Its going to be CD-ROM in some countries, but in Europe its DVD only.

Edit by Administrator: Would like to point out that this person is making an assumption and the statement that the game will be available on CD is not based on any fact whatsoever. Rockstar has announced that the game will be shipping solely on DVD.

This is from the Info -> Features section of the site.

  • Player Modifications supprt, giving PC gamers the opportunity to create their own world within San Andreas.

Does this mean they are actually putting in support for mods (like Half-Life) and/or are releasing tools with the game to create modifications? o_o

(Edit: And why do the forums keep screwing up my quote?)

check the rockstar website for the full screen images, such lovely detail & sharpness in those pics...

it's looking very very very good

mucho cookie.gifcookie.gif 's for bringing it to our attention

creating our own world in san andreas? are they adding a sandbox like editor like farcry had?

or is just easier support for car mods & skins? very curious statement smile.gif

I know it's DVD here, because when I was going to pre-order it, the guy asked me if I had a DVD Drive, which I do. Damn, those screenshots have blown me away. They said there is going to be Player Mod Support, so maybe a tool which allows you to replace cars and stuff, like GTA Mod Installer.

Edit: Woh, Replays in teh Xbox version!

now the wait has begun for the first pc/xbox video to appear on the rockstar site...

and did anyone notice the drawing distance on the 2nd pic on the site? with lv in view i believe,

you can see the stars sidewalk pattern from pretty far away ....

1st pic in the thread here for the xbox, with the plane, is also giving us a quite far view...

can't wait for june!

I'm almost 99.999999% certain they won't be giving us any real mod tools. By "support", they most likely mean that they've gone through and made many things easier to mod, which they have. They've listened to many of our collective complaints, and stuck more things into text files (as opposed to hardcoding them in the exe), and simplified other stuff. For the most part, anything in the game can be edited with Notepad except for the models, textures, and mission scripts. Models and textures are a proprietary third-party format (now owned by *gasp* EA), so it's unlikely we'll see any tools or docs for those. We already have user tools for them though, so it's hardly an issue. Mission script formats, on the other hand, are developed in house at R*^, but they probably won't feel compelled to give us those either since we've been cracking those for the last two games anyway.

What about the XBox in-car screenshot? can our men drive the car for us? it could be awesome sometimes for a drive-by shooting. smile.gif

I think you'll find that its just a publicty shot since Rockstar have the power to take screenshots from whatever angle they want including inside cars like that. Having said that though its most probable that Stretchnutter will once again whip up a Cam Hack that allows that sort of camera angle in the PC version.

Anyway the ball is really rolling now, we can now see how much better SA will be with the higher freedom that Xbox and Pc offers.

Player modability support. Sounds very good indeed. Hopefully they've eased the burden of having to hack into numerous files of the game, finding opcodes and whatnot, to make the game do what we want it to do. And hopefully they've expanded the limits of the game (IP numbers, COLs, Dummies, etc..) to allow us more freedom to add new things to the game. Maybe we might even be able to ADD vehicles to the game instead of replacing existing ones. Or even add Vice and Liberty city into the game with SA, not that I'm getting to ahead of myself, but only if it would be possible. The prospect of being able to do all of this excites me greatly. It's only a matter of time before we find out if all of this is finally possible.

It's interesting how they recommended a Geforce 6 video card on the PC site. I guess Nvidia is partners with them on this, since you can see the Nvidia logo on the bottom of the page.

Yeah I noticed that too Cran. Same goes with Alienware and Creative. Lots of people and companies are eagerly awaiting GTA SA's arrival to the PC...

Man I think this could be out of topic but I found this Quote also on this topic.

I saw a cover of GTA SA saying PC-CDROm and 5CD's

The Game Seems to have leaked.

If i'm lucky I might be able to get it tomorrow!

I'll post a scan as soon as I find a scanner smile.gif

Holy crap, I don't think we need to worry about draw distance... In that second IGN Xbox show, you can clearly see that large tower in the distance. Now, that tower is like, half the city's length away from grove street, so thats some big ass improvement there.

On PS2, you have to go all the way to west Idlewood just to see it, so, judging by the map positions, the draw distance has been effectively doubled. I knew it was going to be better, but damn...

Edit: about the guy above me, what you probably saw was one of those mock-up boxes that game stores usually put out. (Of course, most of the time they are marked with a very obvious "FOR DISPLAY ONLY" label, to keep you from questioning whether or not it's already out or not.) Apparently it's all the store's speculation, basically, so no, the game has not been "leaked" and no you will not have it tomorrow. Besides, if it were "leaked", it wouldn't be in physical get-it-from-the-store form.

I see something wierd. On the PC screenshot named "2" by Rockstar, on the lower right of the image you can see the VLO (or LOD) of the cars at the same time you can see generic objects farther away from them. Usually I think it should be the other way around. Edited by spaceeinstein

i wonder what Rockstar means in the features by:

Player Modification support, giving PC gamers the opportunity to create their own world within San Andreas

Our own world??? would this mean support for all modding? doubt it, but interesting none the less,

and whats with this

I'm stuck. I don't know which one to get!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the PC version, but having an Xbox and an HDTV, and given that they put dual-axis controller on the "recommended" list in PC system requirements, the Xbox version may be, on it's own, the better version. Not to mention 2-player support, widescreen, replay mode etc. are Xbox only.

The PC version will probably have non-existant loading times, even higher texture resolution, the potential for a higher frame-rate and has the option to use free-look based aiming and with the mod support is probably a better choice for me. As long as they have it on DVD.

the replay mode is actually on both versions, not just the xbox one...some other features will be

in the pc version as well, the only difference should be the modding & dual player feature...

Where Xbox has 2 player support kept in, PC looses 2 player support and instead has extra modding potential that R* is giving to the modding community. A fair trade for those of us that are getting the PC version.
