Wanted: Newsletter Editor/Writer

Hello,

 

we are planning to set up a monthly newsletter for Myriad Islands and therefore are in need of a talented writer.

 

In case you aren't familiar with the mod, Myriad Islands is an open community map project for GTA Vice City and the upcomming San Andreas, that works as follows: A set of empty, green islands is split up into single lots, which modders can reserve and use to build whatever they want (following some loose stylistic guidelines). So it's not one of those boring total conversions, it's a living and growing city.

 

It's still to be decided what goes into the newsletter, but basically that will be a summary of the last month's happenings, an article about a topic of current interest, an interview, maybe a guest article, and some project and release reviews.

 

You don't necessarily have to be a modder. You are responsible for editing all articles generated by your assitants, writing articles based on information collected by them, and maybe write your own monthly column or a fictional story (taking place in Myriad).

 

So if you are interested in keeping this project up and running (and not tend loose motivation after 2 issues), have good writing, editing and proofreading skills and the ability to work in a team (of n00bs ), please apply either in this thread or our newsletter thread.

This could be me I do have some writing experience, and I generally have a good sence of grammar (When not typing so fast). Check past issues of GW for my contrubitons Maybe I should just do small things, but i'm not quite sure.

Steve, i can help also... And i don't want to be the director... Just a member of the team, i'm willing to help with some articles, etc... Then someone should do the spell check and the editing job, etc, but if you want me to the team just say something by pm or msn...

I wouldn't mind doing this (Editor job thingy). I have past expriences with the Forum Weekly or Bi-weekly (died due to lack of interest from the forums, and hard work of only one person, writing articles and doing the whole thing generally.) I have done some articles before for the gang weekly.

I'd enjoy doing something like this. I think I'd do a good job proofreading, or possibly writing. I've only written one thing on this forum, but I'm mainly just short on ideas, and I'd like something to do.

 

I'll admit I don't know a lot about modding, but have a read over it, and PM me if you're interested.

I'd help, but unfortunately wouldn't have the time to keep up with it. There's quite a few good writers around though, so I'm sure you'll find someone good enough to take the top spot.

I've read a lot of great ideas. Seems like people are willing to put their shoulders under this. Lots of volunteers for articles and such, but I think we're losing track of what's really important. It's a newsletter, not a magazine. What in my eyes seems the most important, is the monthly recap of what happened. A list of some sort. With links to pics in the PPT or something; a recap of various updates; a summary of what's next;...

Don't get me wrong, I like the other ideas, I just don't think they should get the upper hand. A monthly recap helps to keep an overview of what's going on. Wich is getting really necessary and is imo the most important. If it's in addition with the other stuff, no problem.

 

Edit: I'll post this in the other topic too, since I don't think many Myriad watchers tend to read the Writer's discussion.
