Parachuting

I've managed to detect if the player has been falling for 2 seconds, then press a hotkey to slow your falling speed. I've found an animation that would work good with it, and I have a pretty basic idea on how I'll make the player controllable in the air, using basic cosine math routines..

 

Anyhow, to the question. I need to create an object - particularily my parachute model - above the player. And I need it to stay above my player at, say Z+3, 'til I touch the ground. Does anyone know if this is possible in SCM?

I came up with a stupid idea of making a vehicle out of my parachute model, then using put_car, but that just sucks. I think I remember a tie_object_to_actor or something from somewhere, can anyone point me in the right direction please?

You can make the player carry objects by using opcode 04C4 to create coordinates in front of the player and 01BC: put_object on that coordinate to make it look like the player is carrying the object. Have a look in the Myriad Islands mission script in the mission "Scrap Yard Psyco" to see how.
