Greg-J
We don't want to be one of those mods that thrives on attention and tries to look like a legitimate developer, so I'll keep it as short as I can. A little about the mod: In short, it's a multiplayer and singleplayer mod with the mp centered on gameplay blended from games such as GTA and BF1942 in a semi post-apocalyptic setting. SP could be considered more like the original Deus Ex as far as gameplay goes, but the setting remains the same. Right now we're hard at work coding what we have pet-named "The Fueled Engine". Basically, HL2 doesn't do Source any justice out of the box for the type of gameplay we're after. So we're writing the base engine for it. Things like the ability to use anything as a weapon, truly dismemberable bodies, dynamic deformation of all vehicles etc. So far so good. We've got a basic premise for the game mechanics and even in it's infancy it's a hell of a lot of fun to play. It's worth noting that we're approaching our development process less like game developers and more like software developers. We've adopted what we call a "public development model". Simply put, when we have an internal testbuild, you have an internal testbuild. For multiplayer at least. There are pros and cons doing it this way, but we think it will be alot more fun and keep us more motivated. We're about 2 to 3 weeks away from starting our public development, but as soon as we post the first testbuild up for download, all registered users of our site (no silly email verification registration of any funny tricks) will be able to download builds as they are compiled. Our website still has some touch up work to be done, but it's fully functional and there is a pretty cool video of some gameplay shot about a week ago you can check out. pizza guy
You do realise you aren't allowed to self promote any site of your own in a normal post... It is counted as advertising.
street cheetah
Awesome. It looks like it could be really awesome. I'm guessing by you saying the multiplayer will be like GTA, then it will be some sort of open environment? Or are we going to be stealing cars? Hamburger
You do realise you aren't allowed to self promote any site of your own in a normal post... It is counted as advertising. Stop moaning, Mod looks sweet. Now get your ass to work.
Waste
I wouldn't mind providing a mirror for this as long as I'd get some credit.
Greg-J
I purposefully didn't put any banners or ads on our site so that we didn't get accused of trying to make a buck. In every other forum I am a part of, it's commonplace to post links to your mod site. I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers, we just thought people who like GTA would enjoy the mod. As for the area, the areas will be large, with the largest being roughly 16 square miles.
Greg-J
Our site is now almost polished (it looks alot better in firefox than it does in IE), and we've begun letting idlers in our irc begin playtesting.
