[REL]GTA: Long Night

Recommended Posts

Change them out, but back up the originals if you want to go back to Vice later/didn't install a new copy. Police.wav changes the police radio during the Playing Doctor mission and ass_1 is the message to get to the Hellfish Film Studio that ties all the stories together.

Sorry to say I can't remember what CLASS is about right now. I'll get back to you on that, but it shouldn't ruin your gaming experience.

Rampage, I noticed in the misc forum that you said your download of he mod doesn't have an install file. If this is true then you may have downloaded only one of the patches. The actual mod should be around 75 mbs. If yours is smaller than you need to redownload from one of the links provided on the first post of this thread. Actually if your file doesn't have an installscript then you need to redownload anyways. When you have a version with an installscript, just follow the instructions in the readme, or those posted in your misc thread, as they are accurate. Hope this helps and you enjoy the game.

The good computer's just now in the shop getting a new motherboard. So we've been unable to really play our own game for a few months now, much less compile any special dial-up editions. A dial-up version would still be around 30 mb.

The intro movie is under/around a meg. It's 3 second hellfish logo and then a couple frames of the long night logo. Figured if you downloaded it, you don't need to be told "Look at all the fun you're about to have!" The trailer is an entirely seperate promotion so folks can realize the fun they're missing and how there's not anything else out there like this.

I took a lot, a lot, of time making the radio stations and you tell me you don't want it? I'm hurt. The filefront hook-up exists solely because of you. I give and I give and you just want more! I have feelings too! I'm going to Mother's house for the weekend and I'm taking the kids with me!

Seriously though, if you're determined to play a lesser, lamer version of Long Night, you could, and I cringe when I say this, download Myriad Islands:Infected [7 mb] and the Mission Patch [58.2 kb].

I think Infected includes all the zombies, the static radio loops, and the night atmosphere. The patch includes the actual missions. And that's about all of Long Night you would actually get. You would basically lobotomize it to death, desecrate the carcass, and leave it for the vultures. There would be no new weapons, gxt entries [the text on screen that explains everything], retextured areas, character skins, wav files, proper particles, or the other features. It might even have their HUD as well. I'd hook you up with the smaller files but I currently don't have access to any machine that actually has Long Night on it.

Again, I'm not certain that would work and there's no telling how it would actually play. If you just want to murder zombies, it might get you by. I seriously don't recommend it for the average bear.

I know you've been gunning for this for a while man, so I hope you figure out some way to get a taste. Work your social network, or wait for college, or head down to your local library with a blank cd-r. That's all the ideas I have.

I'm not angry at you, Picallo. Twas a joke. I know you want Long Night and I wish you could've had it already. Dial up sucks, I know.

A lot of folks don't seem to understand the radio station is a plot element. I think the set up's pretty straight forward - it's some aspiring guitar guy that took over the station during the zombie chaos. Still they complain about the quality, or the music not rocking their socks off enough. That's why there's a mp3 station, people. Freedom of choice.

Long Night trivia - That's Senator Joseph Lieberman, the anti-video game/mortal kombat fellow, at the start of the tape the guy recorded over.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm having trouble with the "hospital on fire" mission... I can get to the bottom of the stairs in time, and get outside... but when I get over to the shed to turn on the sprinklers, nothing happens when I stand in the pink glow. I have the screwdriver from the beginning of the mission... what gives? Anyone else have this problem? Basically I end up "stuck" in that mission because there's no way to complete it.

it didn't help me ... my problem is still not answered... i would really like to play the full game ... and not just the demo.

edit: tell me this ... it works on a computer that way to slow to ever play the ongrial vice city and that it dosen't work on a computer that can play battlefield 2 on the highest setting?

But any ways that mod f*cking rocks.

Yeah, I'd be pissed too.

So, rename/move all the files in the AUDIOLC folder to the AUDIO folder. MP3s stay the same name. Delete the empty AUDIOLC. See if that works.

It's not a hardware thing, no-name. It's software. The same solution should in theory work for you.

flying ninja cow

From what I've played so far, this is an excellent mod. However, when I get dropped off from the helicopter at the beginning of "Dirty Laundry", I can't move. Is there a patch, or something I missed in here to fix this? And yes, I already downloaded/installed the patch. It didn't help

I would have loved to play this mod. Unfortunately, even after trying your fixes, I still recieve an EXCEPTION HANDLE ERROR. The game will load up to the title screen, the main menu, and when I pick new game, the loading bar makes it to the finish point, but before the gameplay loads, the computer beeps and I recieve an exception error. Any ideas?

Anyway, it looks like fun, and I wish I could play. suicidal.gif

flying ninja cow, I don't know what's causing you to freeze. You should be able to walk forward into the hearse. Try to just let the cutscene play out without touching anything?

jjikehrley, Myriad Islands and other mods that change many things receive exception handle errors. They give gta-vc.exe a tummyache. However, there are ways around it, but nobody's provided a conclusive definite solution. The installation faq has everything we know about it. Try a fresh install of Vice City.

somebody posted this earlier:

"ok, this may or may not help.. but try opening gta-lc with notepad

(it's a config file) and change the number on buildings to 10000 and

the number on dummys to 7000."

i had many problems getting LN to work. first i had to replace the movie files with the R* originals, then i had to replace the radio stations and run from gta-vc instead of gta-ln. and it still didn't work. so i tried this, and now it works fine. everybody who still has problems should try this before you post about your problems.

on an unrelated note, where can i find the walkthru?
