RESIDENT EVIL
Multiple Choice Game
The RE RPG is a roleplaying game in which several members of the forums can take part in. It is like a story-simulation of Resident Evil, only with new storylines, not ones from the game (each storyline will, however, be inspired by the games themselves). Please note, however, this is mainly based on the original Resident Evil games, mainly RE1, 2 and 3. At the moment, it is not based on RE4.
-

----------------------------------------------

-

GAME EXPLANATION
How To Play
How the game actually works will be explained a little bit later. But here are the basic outlines on how to play the game:-

1) Choose a character

2) Read your current part to your story and any extras at the end of it

3) Post your story decision and your extras decisions (each story decision affects your actual story and the path of your game; each extra will affect your story decisions and how they play out - an extra is something like 'do you want to pick up ____', for instance).

Inventory Guide
Here is a guide to the inventory that you have in the game:-

• You have 8 inventory slots; at the beginning of each part you will be able to view your inventory

• To add an item to your inventory, you must respond correctly to an extra at the end of each part asking if you wish to pick it up

• At any time at the end of a part you are allowed to discard weapons or ammo but not special items such as keys etc. if they are still essential to the story; you will be notified of this if you try to discard them

Lives & Savegames
When you select a character, you will start with three lives. You will die if you make wrong or bad decisions throughout your story. If you die without having saved your progress, then you will start from the beginning again. At certain points in the game there may be an extra decision to make to pick up an ink ribbon. This will take up space in your inventory if you pick it up. In certain rooms in the game if you enter them, you can save your progress by using a typewriter (this will be listed on the extras menu at the end of your part). If you save, then if you die then you will start from that point next time.

Please note, however, that since the games are created at random, if you restart/load, then the game may have changed since the first time round, as opposed to being exactly the same - so be careful on the decisions you make! What was a good decision the first time may be a bad decision the second time, and vice versa!

Health & Difficulty Levels
In the game your health will start on fine. If you make a bad/wrong decision in which case you get attacked you may go down to caution. After that if you get attacked you may go to danger. If you make a mistake here, then you will die and lose a life. At certain points or against certain enemies in the game, it is possible to go straight from fine to danger etc.

There are also parts in the game where you may get

poisoned. This may happen while against certain enemies. This will affect your performance in the game and how your next decisions turn out. You can die straight from being posioned (you will be told what your health status is as well as your poisoning).

* * * * *

Difficulty level is how much effect the wrong decisions have and how hard the game is (how often you will get attacked and injured etc.), plus it can also make items and ammunition come in shorter supply. Currently, there are two difficulty levels to choose from:-

Easy - Not as many attacks, easier decisions, more items/ammunition

Hard - More frequent attacks, harder decisions, less items/aummunition

Medical Guide & Mixing Herbs
A health 'step' is from one health condition to another. For example, fine to caution is 1 step, while fine to danger is 2 steps. Here is a guide of medical items and how many steps they heal.

Green Herb -- Heals 1 step

Red Herb -- Does nothing alone

Blue Herb -- Heals poison

First Aid Spray -- Heals 2 steps

Medical Kit -- Heals everything

* * * * *

You can mix herbs to make them better and more effective, and also free up some space in that precious inventory. If you have herbs to mix, you will be asked what you want to do at the end of each part. Here is a guide on herb-mixing:-

Green + Green -- Heals 2 steps

Green + Blue -- Heals 1 step and poison

Green + Red -- Heals 2 steps

Red + Blue -- Makes you lose a step

Green + Red + Blue -- Heals everything

Storage Boxes
At certain points throughout the game you may be in a room containing a storage box. If you are, then you can store things in a storage box, taking them away from your inventory, but then if you find a different (or the same) storage box somewhere else, you can pick it up again. This is handy if you are running out of space in your inventory and don't want to discard anything.

To use the storage box, all you have to do is submit the according changes to your inventory and the box when you make your decisions at the end of the part - there will be an extra menu detailing the box. For some characters, the box will start with things already in it.

Driving
In this RE RPG, you can explore the streets of Raccoon City, Grand Theft Auto style, with the driving feature!

To drive, you first need to find a set of car keys in your story. Once you have found them, you then need to find a car, and once you get in a car this will bring up your driving decisions.

There are two types of driving decisions. The first is driving to a set location. If you select this then you will end up at the location you chose in your next part, skipping through all of the driving and just arriving at your destination.

The second type is freeride. This is done in what we will call 'Resident Evil Real-time', meaning you make every decision on driving. For example, in each part you will choose whether to turn left, trun right, turn round, go forwards, or stop and pull over. Using freeride you can get out at the locale of your choice, just like GTA! This is a great way to add unpredictability into your storyline, because even I won't know what will happen next until you get out at a destination.

However, there is a no set city for freeride. This means that there is no certain route or pattern for roads or buildings, and so you will arrive at locations randomly.

Also, parts on freeride will be very short, in fact, they will have no actual story until you get out - they will just be decisions. However, you may occasionally meet several different types of monster while driving, so be careful!

Inventory Decisions
There are several things you can do in your inventory at the end of each part. You won't be asked to do them every time - it will be up to you to do it yourself. The first thing you can do is reload a weapon, by combining it with the relevant bullets if you have them. The second thing you can do is mix herbs if you have them. The third thing you can do is check an item, to see if it gives you any clues on what to do.

To do any of these, just say so in the extra decisions section when you have to answer to one of your parts. There are also other decisions, such as using the storage box in conjunction with your inventory - but you will be told to do this as a decision anyway.

THE GAME
How To Join
If you want to join in on the game and participate in the action, then reply here answering the following questions:-

Character:Difficulty Level:

I will then get back to you as soon as I can with your first part and all of the extras to go along with it.

Co-op Mode (2-4 Players!)
This will be a co-op story in which you can team with other members throughout your story. You can have up to four people combined in this story to make a large cooperative mission in which you must work together with the other members of your group to achieve the end goal.

The story will work exactly the same as a stand-alone one, however, at the end of your part you must BOTH reply to it with your decisions (there will be two slightly different sets of decisions, depending on the current circumstances for the character). Also, you must decide between you who takes what items. You may share items between one another once they are in your inventory, but only if the two characters are in the same location at the same time.

If you want to create a co-op game, then first of all, you must make sure that you are roughly in the same timezone as your partner, or that you are usually on at the same time as them. This will ensure that you can both reply to a part with your decisions at roughly the same time, as well as discuss your decisions with your partner(s), and then the writer can get it out afterwards.

The catch to this is, you can't have more than one story running at a time. Therefore, if you already have a story running and you want to run a co-op story instead, you will have to put yours and your partners stories on hold so that you can focus on the co-op. Don't worry, if you leave the co-op story or you die in it then you can go back to your single player mode, or you can start a new co-op story with somebody else.

Also, in co-op mode you will be given a different character at the start. You will have several characters to choose from - see the co-op character select menu!

One final thing regarding this, is that you do have save games and lives, but the lives work by if one person dies, you both die. So if one person is killed, the game loses a life and you start from either your last save point or the beginning, depending on if you have saved yet.

-

----------------------------------------------

-

CHARACTERS
Character Rules
If you play through the game and die with a character (and lose all of your lives) then his or her exact story will never be repeated (even though the character name and/or description may be used again). Also, all of the stories and characters do not intertwine, they are stand-alone, except in the case of a specific co-op game.

Story
It's been two days since the station was overrun by zombies. I can't last here in the storeroom much longer, not only am I running out of food, but with nothing to do all day but sit here and be scared to death, I just can't take it anymore. John left the room last night to investigate a few noises he heard upstairs ... he has yet to come back. I'm fearing the worst.I don't think there's going to be a search party to come out for us. We've been in the station too long, and all I can hear outside is the scratching of feet, the groans of mutated beings, the wretched smell leaking from their bodies and seeping into the room through the crack in the door. I have yet to have an encounter with one of the zombies, but I've seen one, briefly. Sooner or later I'm going to have to leave this room and face them ... leave, before they find a way in to me.

Huddled in the corner of the small box room, you drop your pen onto the floor and place the small diary you have begun to make on the desk in front of you. The putrid smell of decaying flesh fills the air as the light bulb above flickers, the shade swinging endlessly from side to side. Shelves line the walls of the room, the main attraction being the desk in the middle of the floor. On the back wall there is a small stool with a typewriter on top, and an empty storage box next to it. The wooden door on the other side of the desk sits there, still.

Suddenly, you hear a familiar sound, and look up. The doorknob slowly begins to turn ...

Story
Thoughts race through your mind as you watch in terror, the doorknob moving slowly, turning eerily in a clockwise direction. Acting purely on instinct, you quickly tighten your grip on the pistol in your right hand, and raise the firearm at the door, aiming forwards with a sense of power. With your finger beginning to rest on the trigger, you exhale deeply as the door begins to move forwards. Suddenly, a man swings in through the door, and you immediately recognise who it is: Craig, the rookie officer just assigned to Raccoon City last week. As he clambers into the room he falls to the floor, urgently slamming the door shut behind him. As he stands up, he turns round, suddenly noticing that you're standing there in front of him.

Craig: Claire! Thank god you're here, I thought I'd never find you!

Claire: What's going on? What's out there?!

Craig: I have no idea. I've been hiding up in the STARS room the past couple days, along with a few other guys.

As he stands there, you notice he is grasping his right shoulder, clutching it in his hand tightly. His white shirt is dyed with red around the area, and blood trickles through his fingers.

Claire: What happened to your shoulder?

Craig: One of those damn things... those zombies... out there. It bit me!

Claire: Where are all the others?

Craig: I don't know. John managed to make his way up to the STARS office ... he told us you were in one of the rooms down here in the basement. I arranged to come back down with him to get you, but on the way, we were attacked... I don't know where he is.

Craig squeezes his hand tightly, an expression of pain coming across his face.

Craig: I ... I went back up to the STARS room, but they were all ... gone. The place was a mess.

Claire: Well, what now...?

Craig: I need some rest, this thing's killing me ... I don't know what we can do. We should try to bolt up that door ... or something ... we don't want those things getting in here.

Claire: Bolt it up? With what? There's nothing in here to bolt it up with, and neither of us can move anything in front of it...

Craig: ....

Claire: Great.

Story
You wake up to a muffled clanging sound, and quickly sit up against the wall. In front of you is a small, rusted door, locked from the inside to prevent anyone from gaining access. As you stare at the door for a few seconds, you suddenly come back down to earth, the reality of what has been going on setting in. You swiftly reach out for the baseball bat which has rolled out to the side of you, and then grip it tightly in two hands.

Around a day ago, you received word about some sort of invasion in the city, and you heard that the police station situated above the sewers where you worked had been overrun. After hearing for yourself some kind of massacre in the car park above, you decided to retreat to your small, dingy office, where you then must have dozed off, unaware of anything going on around you.

Suddenly, the clanging noise resonates throughout the sewers once more, making you jerk your head quickly around. Silence, and then again, the clanging noise. Strangely, it seems to be moving, the noise gradually seeming to become louder, and closer, with each heart-stopping thud.

"What the hell is that?"

Gripping your bat tightly, you carefully lift yourself off the ground, trying your best not to make a sound. As you get up you survey the area around you. A small control panel sits to the left, not working since the power cut earlier. The light above, powered by the backup generator now operating, illuminates the room clearly. In the corner there are various cleaning appliances - a mop, bucket, chemicals, but nothing of use. The only interesting thing about the room is the door in front...

Before I do that, however, I'd like to check my inventory to learn what the Wolf Medal does exactally.

Story
Gripping the bat tightly, you gather up your courage and take a step forwards. With your free hand, you slide the small locks off the door, and then push down the handle. The rusty door slides open forwards with surprising ease, swinging well on the hinges. Looking out at the large room ahead of you, you grip the bat with both hands, proceeding forwards cautiously. In front of you is a small walkway, leading down a ramp, hugging the wall. It turns right with the wall, and then proceeds forwards until coming towards a door at the other end.

Leaning over to the right, you look over the balcony at the side of the walkway, peering down below. There is a large drop heading down, leading to the main dumping area. As you peer into the darkness, you see distorted shadows... and it looks like they are moving. This eery side alone makes you bring your focus away from the edge of the balcony, and back to the walkway. Although what lies beneath the walkway is unknown, you are safe... for now.

• Head along the walkway and go through the door

• Go back into the office

I know there was something in your first post about a Co-op Mode but will our characters ever meet this way? That'd be cool.

I know there was something in your first post about a Co-op Mode but will our characters ever meet this way? That'd be cool.

It also says in the first post that the character and stories are all stand-alone, so no, they won't interact with eachother or intertwine or anything. It'd be too hard to keep track of everyone and everything, plus the maps for each story are all different in their own way - they aren't set or anything. So it'd just be too hard and complicated, basically.

If, however, two people wanted to merge their stories to create a co-op instead, I could lead up to that, and do it that way. wink.gif

I'll start work on the next parts tonight - starting with people I have yet to do. After that I'll go back to the start and just keep doing them. smile.gif

Story
It's time.I've been huddled up in this hotel room for the past day or so, waiting, watching. The destruction happening just outside my window is horrifying, so much that I still can't come to terms with it. But, now, it's time for me to get out, once and for all. It's time for me to escape Raccoon City, something I should have done a long time ago.

Staring down at the diary you have been keeping, you throw it onto the bed and pick up your STARS shotgun, beginning to load some shells into it. The hotel room is plain and boring, with little features except a bed, a desk and a few drawers. Once you are satisfied that your gun is loaded, you quickly dash to the desk and pick up your STARS card, stashing it away in your jacket pocket safely. The light flickers overhead as you take a look at the desk. On the desk there is a piece of paper, something written on it, hanging off the edge.

Behind you is the small wooden door, a plain brown entrance to the dark room. The aroma of rotting flesh fills the room, reminding you too much of the mansion incident out in Raccoon Forest, which you were a part of a while back. The only good thing to stem from that incident, it seems, is that you may have more of an edge over the zombies out there, having already had the experience of ecountering them once before. Them, and much, much worse, that is.

Story Decisions
You are in the Raccoon Hotel, Room 12A. Do you want to -

• Head over to the window and examine it

• Leave the room through the door

Note: You have lost your room key. If you exit this room you will not be able to get back in

Extra Decisions
• There is a piece of paper on the desk. Do you wish to take it? (This will not add to your inventory)

--> Yes

--> No

Story
You wake up to the sound of a huge crash outside, the noise seeming to be that of a car crashing through a window. The room seems to vibrate slightly as the sound resonates throughout the diner - was the crash into the diner itself?

As you wake up further, you begin to come to your senses, looking around the room. You remember the boss telling you about some sort of monster ... and something taking over the city. He told you to stay in the break room, your safety depending on it. But with a crash outside, something seems unsafe to stay inside.

Glancing around the room, you notice the fan still whirling overhead. There is a large oval shaped table in the center of the room, and a brown storage box pushed up against the wall. The boss told you about some sort of emergency weapon in there...

As you continue to glance around, you notice the door in the other corner of the room. Several small locks seperate the door from the diner outside...

Story Decisions
You are in the Diner Break Room. Do you want to -

• Remain in the room and wait, like your boss told you to

• Exit the room through the door in the far corner

Extra Decisions
• There is a storage box in the corner. Do you wish to use it?
