Okay, for some reason whenever I try to watch something on putfile it doesn't work. I'm using firfox, and for big files like this I'll just sit here for an hour until eventually the program stops responding and it closes. So what was you time?

 

Oh and I can't believe I haven't done this yet, so me votes topic good.

It's not a legitimate race submission anyway.... if you have adblock, you ca click the tab on the plug in window to get the video's direct URL, cut and paste it into the location bar to download the file...

I'm gonna copy the scoreboard off the front page and put it on the site, I'm losing track of all your damn Cities Collide submissions though Mxy!! And I just realised that my pages don't have links to the races on, so I'll just stick a note on the races page saying to download them from here.

Thanks Mxy, was at work last night and all day today, so wasn't able to get on here too much. I keep being torn between making a race and learning my German speaking presentation off by heart before a week on Wednesday. I mean, the title is 'Elektrizitätserzeugungsmethoden' for gods sake, that's hard enough, never mind learning the whole thing!!

Well, I'm sure you'll all be happy to hear that the rules have been updated so that MI7, who hasn't posted in weeks, no longer has control over penalties, not that it mattered. It is now more relevant, with me, snowy and mxy having joint control. I gave us a cool name too!!

Hey folks. I might try some of these races if I can get my TV card to do a good capture. Well, it will do a good cap, just not while full screen and it's kinda hard to race in a 320x200 window!

 

The second hurdle is that I have a hard enough time finding cars to even practice the courses let alone finish them Finally got my Infernus stored at Dillimore for #2 though.

 

For race #1, is there any garage close that will hold a Barracks? I think I checked all of them in LS.

Jeez, and I thought it was tough just typing your name.

 

Anyhoo, I loved the short one where you drove into the water.

It reminded me of when I did "Bridge to Bridge Hustle ™ ® © " I shot right off the little "bridge" below at top speed the first two or three times, before realizing that I should lay off the nitro and slow down.

Cool, I'll give it a try in that garage. I actually got a Barracks stuck at the Mulholland save just north of Madd Dogg's..it's in the garage but I can't get in it or push it in any direction. Doh! I had that happen with a Whoopee in a garage on GTA3 too

 

On a positive note, I got my card to do capture while full-screen and did a test video. Had to fix up the brightness but it works, yeah! Haven't attempted editing yet other than an import/export test.

 

After a few practice runs on the #2 Bridge To Bridge coarse, I was getting in the 2:30s but quite a few collisions. Just need a good clean run now And hope to not forget to hit record!

Well, I just added the sunny weather cheat bit to the rules, updated the scoreboard and am now downloading all the races that I missed!!

Ok, I may have one to submit for Race 2...a few questions:

 

What format/res/filesize is preferred? I am using WMV 640x480x30fps in WMM2. Files are about 10MB per minute of video...too much? too little?

 

 

Race Rules: Competitors must not exit their car before the finish location (i.e. Use of the nitro 'glitch' is not allowed!!).

Is the Nitro Glitch getting out and back in to reset it?

 

 

Mods/Upgrades: Allowed

means anything from a mod shop including Nitro, yes?

 

Reduced Traffic and Sunny Weather cheats allowed on all races?

 

 

Displaying the in-game map during the race: You will be disqualified from the race.

 

Does that mean Pausing for any reason whatsoever? I paused to ash my cig but didn't use the map. (there is a small "skip" where I edited out the pause, but I still have the unedited file)

 

Was gonna download some of the entries but I keep getting "Internal Server Error" at TGA even though I'm signed in. I have an idea that my ICS is causing it but I will try it direct next time.

 

Btw, the web site scoreboard should list Vehicle used in the race (if you can choose) for each person.

the preferred filesize, good question, a 5 min race usually sizes up about to 50 mb more or less,

so anywhere in between 10 mb and a little over 50 mb should be just fine for most races...nothing

stops you from making it bigger though, there's no rule about that (to my knowledge)

only limit is tga, which hosts files up to 100 mb

 

the nitro glitch is indeed getting out & back in , thus resetting it, so no exiting of the car during the race until

you crossed the finish or as required by the race rules.

 

Reduced Traffic and Sunny Weather cheats allowed on all races?

the sunny weather cheat is allowed on all races, but on some

races the reduced traffic cheat is not allowed, check each race details for the exact set

of rules...

Most of those questions coulda been answered by looking at the race rules, but where did you get the no nitro glitch allowed bit from? It only says that on 1 race

 

As for the vehicle used, that's a very good idea. In fact, I'm gonna do that right now. And also put the video links back on the scoreboard, not doing that is just lazy really.

You are right, I didn't mean to imply that it was a restriction for all races (only on #4) just wanted to know what for sure what "nitro glitch" meant.

 

Hopefully find somewhere to put it and post a link when I'm not busy this week. It'll take all day to upload on dial-up anyway!

Yeah that's right, it took me over an hour, but all the race scoreboards now have download links on them, and the ones that need it have information about the vehicle used and whether or not nitro was used.

 

Well, I think I'd better get dressed now, I've been sitting here like this all morning!

Yeah, nice work on the first page beeblebrox5000, now I don't have to sift through the topic looking for the vids. I really appreciate that because of how slow my connection is, it makes choosing which ones to download much easier.
