Posted June 22, 2005 Share Posted June 22, 2005 ...Well...I have to say that I am extremely pleased to see how the great people here picked up where I left off and took this forum racing to a new level. There are several new competitors and it's good to see some originals, or 'elders,' as you're calling yourselves keeping the racing a tradition. As the original racers may recall, GTA:U was on the last race of the first tournament and then "xplicit188" lost his computer from viruses and my notebook was very low on space from all the footage. There are clips that I wanted to put together for two more stunt videos that I never got to, either. Then, people began dropping out due to other issues and I didn't have much time to go through all the videos and clean up my computer to host the final race. That's pretty much the fate of GTA:U in a few sentences. I have had a lot of committments outside of the gaming world and I haven't played GTA or much of any other games since March 9, 2005, which is the last date I posted on here. It was very hard for me to not come back on here, but it was for the better. I know that if I came back before school ended and saw that the racing was still going, I would have no time for school and my two jobs, which would not be a good thing. Instead, I promised myself that as soon as school let out I would return to GTAForums and see what was going on. I knew in my heart that some of you were hardcore with the racing and wouldn't let it just stop. That's exactly what happened, and I just want to thank everyone who kept it alive. You've made a difference in the community and carried the original dream of forum racing farther than I thought it would go. I'm not back to try and take over anything. GTA:U started it all, but that's a thing of the past. You guys are doing a great job with the racing now and I'm very pleased to see the results. However, I noticed that SSR isn't as active as it was during March and April. You guys can't let this stop like GTA:U did. Maybe it's time for a new batch of races (11-20) to keep the racing alive. With the PC and Xbox versions out, there is potential for more racers. Considering it's summer, maybe that will attract a couple more people. However, if you guys decide that you are in fact going to quit, then go out with a big bang. Host a final race to conclude the forum racing era instead of letting it fall by the wayside. We all know the amount of time and effort that goes into this racing and just stopping is like throwing it all away. I would hate to see another fate like GTA:U. Shoutouts & Respect to beeblebrox5000, Kingjad, Mxyzptlk, ballofsnow, and all the racers as well as anyone I missed that has contributed to the racing. Shame about SSR, we all just let it slip when snowy left, sorta lost enthusiasm for it now unfortunately. And TGA deleted most of my races, although I still have them all on my PC. BenMillard Posted July 13, 2005 Share Posted July 13, 2005 (edited) I would certainly be interesting in competing on the PC, although it struggles to run GTASA at the best of times so having Fraps going as well could be fatal.
