Stuff added by me (and probably submitted by other people) thats not in either of those lists:

DVD Decrypter - Rips dvds.

Speed Fan - Gives a bunch of reading and OC's too I think, fun to play with.

Foxit PDF Reader - It umm....reads PDFs I guess....better alternative to adobe's acrobat rreader I hear.

VLC - Nice little video player, supports all the usual formats. Has versions for Linux, Winows, and other operating systems. I use this for playing video because its stable and doesnt have a fugly gui.

Foobar2000 - Audio player for Windows. Minimalist interface, loads of components, tabbed playlists, built-in replay gain support, etc.

Gnucleus - No-nonsense Gnutella and G2 client for windows. Does what Kazaa and Limewire does, they all use the same file sharing network.

db Power Amp - Decent cd ripping/audio conversion tool. Can tag ripped cds using freedb, and can add some shell extensions

Sygate doesn't display an advertisement popup anymore. I use it and it's pretty good. The link should be http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm since you kinda get lost in Sygate's website...

You should post this site too, it's a good resource for some security tips for Windows.

At last. Was going to PM Wolf the other day and ask him to update this topic.

I don't know what format you want it in, such as tables and what-not, so I'll just put it in basic form.

Browsers:

(Only really use Firefox & Opera so the other ones with commments are based off websites)

Firefox 4 - Arguably one of the best browsers there is out there. Allows for hundreds of customisations to get it working, looking & feeling exactly the way you want. Firefox 4 has alot of compatability issues, and is why I use Opera aswell as Firefox.

Internet Explorer 8/9 - Not a very popular browser due to the amount of attacks it can get, and rather slow IMO. Some people like it, but I personally can't stand it.

Opera - My personal 2nd favourite browser. Can be customised again, and comes pre-packaged with alot of cool features.

Safari - Not used much, so anyone to care to comment?

Maxthon Browser - No comment.

Avant Browser - No Comment.

PhaseOut - No Comment.

DeepNet Explorer - Not used, but claims to have intergarted P2P support and the 'best RSS Feeder'.

SpaceTime - Not Used.

P2P Clients:

Shareaza - Not Used

BitTorrent - IMO, the best Torrent software there is.

Ares - Not Used

BearShare - Used this as my first ever P2p Software, and did exactly what I wanted it to do. Allows previewing of songs as they download with the intergrated music player aswell.

Kazaa - Not sure how much this program has changed, but was the best P2P software at one point in time.

Limewire - Currently down due to court action, but keep checking the link for details.

EMule - Just recently used this program, and only got rid of it when I spring cleaned my PC. Great program, does exactly what you want it to.

DC++ - Can be rather confusing at first, so make sure to read the FAQ's and whatnot. Personally, I don't like it as it's confusing having to join servers to download, only to be kicked from the server for not posting in the 'chat room' every minute.

Soulseek - My favourite P2p program, due to how much new music I've found thanks to it allowing you to browse peoples shared folders. So easy aswell...download, create a name, and you automatically connect to the network. Type a search in, and either choose to download from the list or browse the users files. Also has intergrated chat rooms specifically tailored to music genres.

The only secure way to P2P file share right now is torrenting and/or via an onion network of some sort. (I2P or Tor) I would remove all other P2P links. On other networks, even if you are looking for something entirely legal to download, there is no guarantee that you will not download something entirely illegal. *cough*eMule*cough* There is no reason to take such risks.

The only secure way to P2P file share right now is torrenting and/or via an onion network of some sort. (I2P or Tor) I would remove all other P2P links. On other networks, even if you are looking for something entirely legal to download, there is no guarantee that you will not download something entirely illegal. *cough*eMule*cough* There is no reason to take such risks.

Soulseek would be a safe one to keep though.

Suppose you'll be adding Chrome to browsers?

Might also want to list Asus and Razer as Sound Card manufacturers.

Could also add Rivatuner and nTune to overclocking and Paint.NET to imaging.

The lead post links should still be appended, There's more then just those, Techspot is a forum and news site, not listed, there's one for Motherboard lovers, one for eMachines support I mentioned a few times (as well as Gateway) and Overclocker's anonymous I believe, I'm sure a few that I can't recall off hand.

Too bad Abit went down, sad to see them go.

7Zip for compression tools, I found it on a CD ROM MaxPC disc, my first time I bought the magazine, and I've enjoyed it ever since!
