DVD-ROM?

Recommended Posts

GTA3Rockstar
Yes, SA PC will need a DVD drive to run... most PCs these days SHOULD have one, but you can get a DVD drive for cheap now, somewhere around $25 or $35

Yeah, but was is dumb is that DVD-r's are like $80-100...

The Sims 2 did that, they had one for cd-rom which was 4 cds and DVD which was all on one... So, they might just use DVD to save money rather than using so many discs...

Hi I wrote about a week ago and haven’t gotten a response …. I’ve since then added you to my allowed senders list I had a few questions concerning my pre-order of gta san andreas I noticed on take2’s uk site it says it will be released on DVD and on the North American site it says PC CD ROM and DVD… and was wondering what type I will be getting I prefer it on DVD if I have a choice also I was wondering if it will shipped to arrive on june 7 or will shipping start june 7?

****************************************************************

i have alrequested the system specs but they told me to write back in the spring ... gonna to that in april....So unless things have changed since they wrote me it will be DVD ONLY much to my liking concidering it would be a 4-5 cd game otherwise

Most games come out on DVD & CD just now, as game companies do know that tehir is a lot of folk withough DVD-ROMs still... but I would still recomend buying one...

http://www.ebuyer.co.uk (or http://www.ebuyer.com if you are in us) is a great website for computer parts... probably one of the cheapest sites you will find...

We know its being discussed in a topic already, at the moment its just speculation.

My pre-order with Gameplay is now shown as a DVD Rom. They have also added this to the specifications section on their website.

BUT Its just speculation apparently!

Yeah as I suspected they have gone the DVD route which is great news, no more disc swapping. Really if it was on CD it would be in excess of 4 discs I'd imagine so yay.

For those who don't have a DVD-ROM get one as they are dirt cheap even for an actual DVD-Writer.

Oh gosh now r* is making me spend more money just to play san andreas. If anybody still has any news that it could be possibly coming for cd-rom then tell me cuz it would be nice to save the money.See i dont live in the us and when u convert us$ to my currency it ain dirt cheap. I got a dell in 2002 but i never really saw the need for a dvd-drive cuz i had like 4 dvd players already but anyway if i need to buy a dvd drive to play san andreas then i would cuz its well worth the money.

P.S. Does anyone if a dvd-rom a dell laptop can work with a desktop and if so then how?

Ok, who really cares about disc swapping? The only times I've had to disc swap is during installation and then I used the first or last disc to play the game (last disc for GTA3 and VC). And since I bought the game(s), I just d/l a cd crack so I don't need a disc at all to play it. DVD-ROMs are not cheap here in the states I don't see why I should have to buy one just so I can play SA.

I am pretty sure they are cheap in the states since they are cheap in Australia and our stuff is always more expensive. Get with the times and buy a damm DVD-ROM as that's the only way your going to play SA. If your PC doens't have one then I wouldn't expect the game to even run in the first place as computers have been coming with DVD-ROMs for like 5 years.

Hi All,

Just got a question regarding DVD-ROMs.

First of all, is the PS2 version on a Dual layer DVD?

Second, would this mean you have to have a Dual layer DVD Rom, or just a normal DVD player? Just that there was talk of the GTA DVD being on DVD5 or DVD9, or something like that.

(personally i cant see this game being over 4.5GB?)

Thanks.

Nope PS2 version was never Dual-Layer, and even if the PC version is put on a Dual-layer any PC equiped with a DVD-ROm can read it. Dual-layer only becomes a problem when your writing with it which requires you to have a dual-layer DVD writer.

Can't you play a dvd in a normal cd drive? At least I can.

While you're mostly correct, some DVD drives CANNOT read dual layer media. Its rare but its known to happen.

Altho I am still almost 99% sure that this game will come out on CD and DVD (yes Ive read the email...) a cheap DVD drive:
