How do u get to Liberty City using an AR MAX?

Look in the first post and you'll see this code:

ARMax NTSC:

Liberty City via Zip

BW80-CCD3-3VMAC

T92Z-6Z9B-5KJZB

91F9-2A30-8FDPW

M8NQ-UC0D-52GXC

DU3R-9KCQ-UHFHY

Judging by your flag I guess that's the one you want. Then just enter a Zip store and you'll be in Liberty instead.

Hi. I've read through this topic several times now and just wanted to congratulate you on a fine guide. Difficult as it may be - there is something that you could add to make it that little bit better.

I hit a problem before i had even started, and that was where the hell was the Doherty garage - Now, I've completed the game, but it's been months since I had been in that area of the game and so the name was lost on me. Luckily, thanks to the Ribbit video reminded me of it I finally found its location. I also had trouble trying to find the Maverick helicopter - introductory maps for both locations could be a good inclusion for simple-minded gamers such as myself. :-P

I'd like to share my past experiences on getting to Liberty City...

Before I tried to use this guide, I tried the surprisingly simple Saint Marks Bistro mission where I jumped over a wall, through an alley way and then meant to jump through a wall onto solid ground.

5 times - each time, fell to my watery grave.

So - never able to resist a challenge (Found the ghost town in GTA3 by flying the Dodo there and also perfected the 'Super Jumps' in GTAVC to such a degree that I wrote an FAQ for gamefaqs - sadly it was rejected twice) I decided that it would be a bloody impressive thing to learn how to get to Liberty the long, difficult way - black hell.

My first attempt was going well. I had got to garage heaven and then successfully touched down at the Doherty garage. However, my mistake then was having two quadbikes in my garage. I satchelled both vehicles and lightly bumped one into the other. However, I missed it and could do nothing than watch it soar into the air before it exploded.

Then the police came and beat me up and shot at me, probably because of my failure.

Second time, I set myself up a little better. This time I finally got a Maverick and eventually managed to push it into my garage along with a Sanchez and saved everything so they were there and I'd be back at Ganton. I got back to Doherty again and slowly eased the helicopter out of the garage. I then satchelled up the vehicle and went to bump it. Ahh... hadn't done the flying cars and foating cars cheats. So, I got out and walked off to do them. You know that the second cheat has the fire button in it, yea? Well, when it had come to press them my inventory happened to have landed onto the satchel detonator and I was subjected to having to watch both the helicopter and bike explode several times.

Then the police came and beat me up and shot at me, probably because of my failure.

Now, today I decided to try it a third time and again managed to get to the Doherty garage. I did both cheats before I went anywhere near the vehicles and then I got them both out. I satchelled them up and lightly bumped the bike into the helicopter and then managed to get into it before it was too high. Success! I flew up for about 90 seconds and then jumped out and skydived for a little while (which eventually turned out to be a bad mistake) before opening my parachute. I slowly drifted towards the marker....

AND THERE IT WAS!! Liberty City was coming into view below me and I was flying straight towards it. I grabbed my digital camera and took these photos...

As I was doing the whole route all I could hear in my head was Fight Test by Flaming Lips (Thank you for that Ribbit - but it is an amazing song!) and as I drifted over the city I had the instrumental going over and over.

As you can see - because I had hesitated before opening my parachute I missed the golden solid ground and unfortunately passed right through the road. However, at least now I know that I can get there without having to buy an ARMAX with added memory-card corrupting capabilities.

Thanks again. I look forward to performing this in front of my non-believing friends...

PS - in case you want to know, I did this on my PS2.

I had a lot of trouble trying to find the Maverick too. I went to this map and found the nearest Maverick (In San Fierro, look down the right side and you'll see 2 green markers for both of the helicopters that're on the hospital roof). The other vehicle can be anything, I used a Sanchez to push the helicopter.

umm...can u help me. I followed ur instructions completely: I went to the gym i went on the ceiling, there I marked the location, then I flew to it but I didn't see any arrow. Is it on the ground r in the sky? Could u plz help me with a little bit more specific directions cause I really want to do this. Thanx.

Sorry I haven't posted for ages, I was on holiday.

The marker should be around level with the gym, but you might find it a bit difficult to stay at that height. Once you get to the marker location, aim with your Uzi's (or whatever weapon), and look all around you for the marker. Most times it's either directly below you, or directly above you blink.gif

Killer Carrot, to get to Liberty City with a cheat device, use the codes I've provided at the bottom of the guide. If you don't have the Cheat Device for the code, go to the Code Conversion topic.

I think i can help with the height problem. Allright. When u go through the gym roof just press R2 all the way. Then when ur on top of the marker. Don't press anything and let CJ drop. About a few seconds later. He will drop on reflective groudn. That's how I did it.

I still have a question. How come I always get stopped at Flint Intersection, there seem to be an invisible wall that i can't fly through.

PS: I have seen Liberty City on my way to Doherty Garage, It is also near the VC stadium but I couldn't get high enough to get there.

Getting the maverick in the garage is fairly easy. Just land it as close to the garage as you can and push it in. If you try to fly it in chances are you're gonna light your Maverick and torch yourself. Getting it out is easier, you can fly it out, you'll only torch 1 in 5 tries.

Mokie, I don't know why the barrier is there, but if you fly high enough then jump and pull your chute you can easily glide over to the solid LC.

Cool! I made it LC but my patience kinda took me out. I forgot that i had the faster gameplay on and like, i flew so high in da barrier for 45 seconds like u said (real time) and i thought, oh god!! so then i glided and i was on top then i cut the chute. And im like holy f'cking crap i forgot that i could fall through non solid groudn so then i put in the parachute cheat, while i was, i landed in the parking lot of the bistro. Damn!

PS: Here's a way of using the jetpack up there. While ur parachuting down on top of marker, put in the jetpack cheat then like, cut the chute and u will have a jetpack:D

QuotePick up your jetpack, or spawn another one. When you entered the warehouse, the jetpack should have appeared in there behind you, for convenience. Anyways, fly to the marker in the countryside. Do not despair! No matter what on the way there you will pass through the 'red zone', where the game will force you under, making the dreaded 'Loading...' screen pop up. You want this to happen. Anyways, once the Loading... screen pops up, you'll hit a barrier, so you'll have to fly sideways (by holding whatever buttons are the 'look sideways' buttons)

As you approach the marker a crane similar to the Import/Export crane will float into view. Following the crane will be what seems to be a snake, but will materialise into the rail tunnel. Soon you will be flying over a portion of San Fierro, the area around the Doherty Garage. Make sure you don't fly over the invisible Easter Basin Naval Base, as you will get a five-star wanted level if you do. Note that peds spawn on the streets of the San Fierro chunk, and cops will too if you get that five stars. If you neglected to grab the camera from your house or wherever, there is a camera spawn inside the rail station, in the corner. This is your last chance. Once you have (or have not) grabbed the camera, go check out the Doherty Garage. You'll notice that the garage doors to the building don't seem to be there, and you can see the interior of the garage!!! You can get in by walking through the second garage door, but the camera will switch to an odd angle. Whip out a sniper rifle, or your camera, and look around. If you go inside the office you'll see that calendar I was talking about earlier, which has the month of January on it. Anyways, back to getting to LC...

this is the bit i dont understand.

One little thing I've noticed...

When I'm flying to the Doherty garage and I hit the invisible wall, I find that the easiest way to get past it is to fly sideways until you get the 'Loading' box and then fall. You fall down until you pass through the clouds (occasionally checking to see if you can move forward) until the screen starts to turn brown along the bottom. This means that you're very close to the bottom and need to come back up else you'll land in the water.

I find this dropping method works every time.

One question though - I want to get a dinghy into my garage but the big problem is how to get one there. I managed to get one onto the beack on the far left and then push it along the road but it proved impossible to get it up the long steep hill to the top where the garage is located. It's impossible to push it up using a car and every time I try to do it hands free it keeps slipping right back down to the bottom again.

An initial location and a path to get it there would be a Godsend...

Since I felt I've gone too long without an update, I've added a second method to getting to the Doherty garage... this time via the Beefy Baron mission. I don't know whether or not you can get to LC from that method, but if someone could test it out, I'd appreciate it wink.gif
