Very good race. Albers sucks at taking corners and heidfeld owns at overtaking. Overall good race and a spectacular win of McLaren Mercedes smile.gif

That was a contender for race of the season!

It was a great race, kimi was brilliant, he did what he needed to do. Great job by the Williams boys. Heidfelds move on Alonso was spectacular, not even a trace of smoke from his wheels, it was a perfect pass. Webber's move on Alonso was messy, but it got the job done. I think it's the first Aussie on the podium in 24 years, great stuff!

Trulli's move on fisi was great to watch, it was a do or die move, he did it, but then died later that lap. tounge.gif

Agreed much 'closer' / better Season than of recent years.

Here's a few of my moans though angry.gif :

1. Bring back traditional Qualifying - Ok, modify it to prevent all out in last few mins by making it compulsory for each Driver to do at least one run in the first half hour.

2. Think of the Fans - e.g. BAR - dock points dont ban them from Races. Think of this, a family has a son who is a mad Button fan. They have saved up, bought their tickets in advance only to be let down by no Button driving. F1 would not exist without Worldwide TV and Race going fans.

3. Bring back Tyre changes - aren't Pit Stops boring now! We like the old wheel nut jamming it adds excitement - Part of F1

4. Get rid of Blue Flags - they overtook em once so they can do it again!

I could g on but I'll stop for breath....

PS I LOVE F1!

Old Qualifying - No. One hour to do qualifying is a bit too much and gives the better teams more chances to perfect their times (which sends all of the crappier teams to the back). But, I am also not a fan of the current qualification, either. It should be modified so that there are two practice sessions on Friday, two one-lap qualifying sessions on Saturday, and the race on Sunday.

Think of the fans - The teams get penalized. sh*t happens. Looks like the family gets screwed because the team had a lower weight. Rules are rules, and nobody is going to quit going to races or quit watching Formula 1 because their favorite team and driver were disqualified from a couple of races.

Tire changes - Having one set of tires is quite interesting on how strategies are played out, because depending on choices, it could make or break a race. Pit stops are still interesting when the fuel burns, hose gets stuck in the tank, car stalls, etc.

Get rid of blue flags - Why? If people are going slow, they should get out of the f*cking way and let the front runners get by. Just like on the highway, keep to the right if you're going slow.

OK, so how would you 'improve' F1 not many suggestions there guys.

I just feel F1 is not the same as in the old days. Maybe thats my problem, Im too old lol!

I personally, got more enjoyment in the days of Mansel in his Turbo Charged Williams, or Tyrell with there 6 wheel blunder!

@ Chunky, suprised you compare Racing to Motorway commuting - according to F1 ITV, the majority of fans wanna see more overtaking, well one way to do this is not allow faster cars an easy ride through. This would also help the 'slower' teams more than your points raised in the Qualifying. Incidentally, Martin Brundell and Mark Blundell also want to see a return to old school qualifying.

At the end of the day, World Wide F1 viewing (at races & on TV) has been steadily declining. Even the FIA have realised (finally) that summut needs to be done.

Actually the FIA want fans ideas, why not put them down at www.itv-f1.com

So guys, what would you do to improve F1 in general?

So you believe everything what is told on the news/tv etc. It seems you don't have your own opinion.

My opinion: Screw the old school qualifying. This is the Formula 1 World Championship, no pussies allowed ffs. One lap, if you screw it up, you're not worthy for pole position: simple.

Qualifying in 1 hour 10 minutes, let's see how McLaren, Renault and Ferrari do this time.

The qualifying ended just seconds ago.

Top 10 is as follows:

1. Heidfeld

2. Raikkonen

3. Webber

4. Trulli

5. Montoya

6. Alonso

7. Barricello

8. R Schumacher

9. Fishi

10. Schumi

Should be interesting. ~az

1st and 3rd for Williams, great stuff. But they're likely to be very light. It really looked as thought Trulli was going to keep pole, he did a great lap, considering the time it was when he did his lap.

No sign of BAR, so much for the great comeback that they planned.

Good lap by Heidfeld but on RTL Television Dr. Theissen (of BMW) revealed that the Williams BMW Cars are racing with only a few gallons of fuel, while McLaren has a bit more.

Ferrari should be very heavy, too. Let's see what the first 20 laps will say tommorow.

Negative.

A) I dont believe all I see on TV news. But I do respect 'experts' opinion mate. I also trust my own views. As a 32 year old, I have witnessed a deterioation in F1 since I was a boy (of course down to personal opinion - I didnt check the news for that!)

B) Very confident of you to say such things - you dont even know me - what makes you so qualified to judge me?

C) We are talking about F1 - thats what we all have in common.

D) So I'm assuming you think there is nothing wrong with F1 since you didnt 'contribute' any suggestions on how to improve the sport but opted instead for calling any driver/team who doesn't cut the mustard as 'pussies'.

E) Incidentally, why does old qualifying create 'pussies'?

Never mind.

I have great news.

I'm going to be awake to watch qualification, and I know today's Sunday so I'm going to watch the race! But, apart from that, I had no idea the GP of Europe was this weekend until my dad called on thursday and told me. THANKS DAD!

No, it was scrapped during the week. All teams agreed to end it. Nick is definetly on pole, and kimi definetly second, etc, etc. It's now just one lap on saturday, reverse order of how they finished the previous race, and in race trim.

My bad. blush.gif

It was changed to 2 laps (one saturday and one sunday) after the saturday qualifying at the Japan Grand Prix last year was canceled due to heavy masses of rainfall.

Now changed back after the Monaco Grand Prix. Forgot why, though. ~az

not to mention I threw my remote control against the wall (it's broken) when it happened... I am so f*cking retarded.

sh*t sh*t sh*t sh*t! This just licks balls .. I knew the tire was going to blow .. but why in the last lap? Why? Damn damn ...

I'm in the bad mood of the year now.

It wasn't the tire, it was the suspension.

The suspension was taking so much damage from the vibrations from the tire, that it just gave out. The tire was still intact during the whole thing. cryani.gif

My stomach hurts really bad now. sad.gif

Well I know that, the tire didn't blow but the main suspension. What I tried to say is that I knew the tire was going to blow ... but why did something LIKE that happen in the last lap?

I know, this is a black sunday for the McLaren Fans confused.gif This sucks sooo much.

Edit:

This is what broke:

That's not what you said. You said the tire blew. Didn't mention anything about the suspension. Also, the tire didn't blow, at any point.

Kimi flatlined the tire when he blocked the brakes at one of the corners a few laps earlier. Flatlining is when the tire gets a flat spot, i.e. causing these strong vibrations.

And I'm just as mad as all you guys, it brings back the feeling from last year where Kimi's engine blew up over and over.

I was upset after the first corner. But my pouting stopped when I realised how good of a race it was. There was tonnes of overtaking. Alonso catching kimi was exciting, then kimi's suspension breaking was just, wow! On the final lap, that's too bad. Button must counting his blessings with kimi missing him by milimeters.

Good to see DC do well, shame about his drive through penalty.

But what a good start out of the blocks - up into fourth place by end of lap one.

Kimi's tyre delamination and subsequent suspension failure was very unfortunate, if only he could have held on. Look at the irony here....

As you are prob aware, I like the old school F1 (made clear by my debate with vALKYR™). But I will accept that the absence of tyre changes in Pit Stops actually was good in this race because it clearly rewarded drivers who preserved their tyres - Kimi's flat spotting not good. The prob is though, that are we now reducing the 'risk taking' and aggressive driving which can add excitment to the races? Also, F1 has prided itself on safety over recent years - changing tyres in Pit Stops adds to safety. Lets not forget that Kimi also took out Toyota in his spin. But then again, this was actually excitement for us viewers!

But Kimi could have changed his tyre under the new regs anyway, OK would have cost him a place or two - but he could have come in for a quick change.

All in all a good race yesterday smile.gif

@ Cice - confused.gif agreed buddy, James Allen is not an 'expert'. Mr Brundel & Blundell can be agrued otherwise.
