Um, somewhere out there, a village is wondering where its idiot is.

-If you find a beat-up Sadler (like the one behind the gas station in the north of Montgomery) and punch the tailgate with your fists, look at the license plate float in nothingness.

The reversing lights on any car dont work, or at least they don't go on when you reverse. confused.gif

None of the big trucks make that cool reversing signal sound either when you reverse them (like they did in VC and GTAIII).

It's always kinda bugged me that right at the start of 'Toreno's Last Flight' mission, CJ's phone call from Woozie mentions that Woozie found that van they were looking for - what van is he talking about? Or have I missed a chunk of the storyline somewheres?

And another one, before you play 'High Stakes, Low Rider' Cesar says you have to have a lowrider to race (no hoopties holmes!) but when you get to the race, two of the cars are not lowriders notify.gif

I think that's the van seen on the "Wear Flowers in Your Hair" tour. But I'm in the minority on that thought. Regardless, it's far from clear.

"Picture a pink golf ball in your mind!"

The thread is alive again with people pointing out some interesting and good stuff!

Indeed, there's a Tahoma and some other non-low rider in the lot at Unity Station for the contest. (Tahomas do seem to be the only non-low rider commonly found on the streets with hydraulics.)

-Pulaski's Buffalo in "High Noon" sustained at least SEVEN direct hits with my trusty heat-seeking missile launcher as it sped off from Las Brujas, and because I didn't get in my car right away he sped off. The next time I just chased him to Fort Carson, waited for him to get run off the road near the safehouse, got out and fired a missile into his car and he bailed to get cut down with my M4. I guess R* really wanted you to hear what he had to say during the chase.

-The same crack whore in the opening cutscene of "Beat Down on B-Dup" who nearly talks Sweet into smoking crack is sitting at Sweet's table in the opening cutscene for "Grove 4 Life." I suppose Sweet and CJ forgot about the previous episode. It seems strange that Sweet would be dating a basehead woman anyway.

I find it funny that the Hydra has a nice shadow of it flat while taking off, and of it flat while doing a 90 degree barrel roll.

-A bit of irony on the radio: K-DST DJ Tommy "The Nightmare" Smith (voiced by some guy named Axl Rose) frequently takes jabs at Radio X and fans of its music. On Radio X's playlist is Guns 'N Roses' "Welcome To The Jungle" which is sung by some guy named Axl Rose.

I think that's because the Axl Rose that does the voice on the radio station IS the Axl Rose from Guns 'n' Roses. I think, well...According to imdb he his anyways. Good topic icon14.gif

Thanks. colgate.gif

Not many parents name their kids "Axl" so I'm going to wager that they're one and the same. (Funny, K-DST callers make reference to a band Tommy "The Nightmare" Smith used to be in...is it art imitating life?)

We all have our favorite Hydra memories. Today, while doing "Vertical Bird" the Hydra I was to fly got damaged (but not destroyed) as I blew up the other Hydras on the carrier with heat-seeking missiles, right? So I take off, black smoke pouring out of the back of the Hydra. Enemy Hydra interceptor comes after me, and I can't maneuver well enough to turn around and blow him out of the sky. Rocket hits my Hydra. It flames. I bail and parachute to the ground over Tierra Robada. I land next to my Hydra which landed intact and on its wheelsonto the freeway leading from Bayside towards the Cluckin' Bell.

I then blow the other Hydra out of the sky with my rocket launcher, then get back in my Hydra which proves apparently indestructible as I take out the ships and fly to Verdant Meadows where I smash a wing against the ground while landing (making it flame). I got out of the plane while it was flaming, and it didn't blow up. I then proceeded to steer it into the hangar.

This just left me scratching my head afterward...

It's happened to me a few times now..

When you take Barbara out on a date, sometimes she will get stuck behind the front door to her home (if you call it that, she lives at the Police Station). She can't run up to my vehicle, and when I gain control of the game again, she is invisible until I go into a resteraunt or club. I know she is there because she talks to me. Strange, like I'm dating a ghost.

Oh and if you hold the bunnyhop button on a Mountain bike, then lean back to do a wheelie, you can lean back all the way and you won't fall off. If you do it while stationary, sometimes the bike goes perfectly vertical and it flashes, then you can stay like that for however long you want.

Boll weevil races in San Andreas!

That's right, the Inside Track Betting shop in Los Santos (under the Mulholland intersection) advertises racing - horse, greyhound and weevil. Yes, weevil.

Also, there's a building with pillars and steps (and a tear gas pickup) that appears quite the versatile structure - there are banners that say "opera" and "bingo." Maybe it's an opera house during the week and a bingo hall on the weekends?

-Madd Dogg's mansion has 19 bedrooms, by his count, yet I don't remember ever entering a bathroom in there. Maybe I've missed it, but I think Madd Dogg must venture outside looking for a fire hydrant anytime the booze is ready to come out the other way.

-I realize Woozie's having trouble getting the Four Dragons Casino up and running, but in between bribing the cops and trying to protect his assets from the Mafia he could invest in a Dumpster. In a couple cutscenes during the planning of the heist on Caligula's there's a bag of garbage in the maintenance room with flies swarming around it. (He's blind, so maybe his maintenance crew figures he wouldn't notice if they don't take out the trash?)

-The in-game captioning sometimes say different things from the characters. In "Customs Fast Track" Cesar says he doesn't want to be "caught slipping" (a common figure of speech in the game for being caught off-guard, such as by port security in this case) but the captioning it's "caught sleeping."

Hardon electronics, a billboard seen just off the Mulholland interchange.

And every single airport runway has the number 69 on either end.

It's as if Rockstar can't get enough of these.

That's not necessarily what I was going for in this thread, but yes R* has a sense of humor. Juank Air. Wang Cars. And then there's a "wanker" named Maccer.

That could be a contest on here - finding all appearances of "69" in the game. There are so many of them.

Another ITB-related observation:

In the Inside Track Betting interior itself (the same for both LS and Montgomery), zoom in with the camera on the screens above the cashiers' counter. It seems to say "Arrival Information" at the top, as if the place was an airport. Maybe these same screens are in the opening airport scenes at Francis (Liberty City) and/or the LS airport baggage pickup and reused in the ITB shop? I'll pay more attention next time I start a new game...

Hey Holmes, sherm-head's Picador has an LS plate on my game...you didn't take it to Fierro and save it in a garage there or anything, did you?

No, it just appears in Grove Street as a San Fierro.

1. Near Jizzy's Palace there is a wharf like series of platfroms with a wooden fence stopping you from falling in. However, if you go far along enough you can drive through one of the segments as if it wasn't there at all.

2. When barriers are smashed (Police impound) at the right speed the pieces appear to float in the air. This also happens with the smashable wall on the bridge above Grove Street. - Holmes

Weird. It's San Fierro with "SHERM" on it, right?

Are you referring to the scaffolding you climb

to get into the Pleasure Domes in "Ice Cold Killa" or referring to the bridge supports a and/or the barriers atop the bridge itself? I want to see this...just to see it.

The breakable barriers, objects and such make for goofy photo ops. I have one saved on my memory card of a Greenwood sitting inside one of the breakable fence sections in front of the Pizza Stack in Idlewood. I had bailed from the speeding Greenwood as it smashed into the fence; it came to rest straddling where the fence goes. I went inside for pizza, came back out and saw the car inside the fence...then took a picture.

Speaking of the police impound, it's strange hearing pedestrian conversations taking place on the surface above the LSPD impound garage. They must be talking very loud, or the garage is actually made of papier mache.

Who here has found anymore spelling mistakes on signs/buildings? - Holmes

Just a small observation. Police cars have the city name on them (LS, SF, LV) and police copters and bikes that are used everywhere just say "SA" or nothing. This is good. However, the Enforcer is also used everywhere and it has a huge "LSPD" on the back of it which bugs me when I see them in the other cities.

Not spelling mistakes per se, but on that same Inside Track building in Los Santos is "Computerised Betting." Chalk it up to the UK origins of Rockstar North, but it's sort of out of place since San Andreas is to be in America where "-ized" spellings are used.

Atop the Welcome Pump diner in Dillimore (where you meet Catalina) you can make CJ do a Jedi Mind Trick and levitate in nothingness - sort of. Climb on top and face the back of the gas pump-looking thing that sticks upward facing the entrance. Walk up to the ledge. Now turn to the right or left and you face some invisible obstruction. Hit the button to climb up. It's an invisible object of some kind, and CJ appears to be walking on air.

Also, Mrs. Marauder - who works in the medical field - was a bit flabbergasted to find that Angel Pine's "hospital" is a trailer, that bloody pedestrians waltz their sanguined carcasses right into the passenger seat of the ambulance during the Paramedic mission and that you just drop them off in front of the hospital.

Yep, I do them in Angel Pine (and she watched as I herded what should be the entire population of the town into that little trailer).

PD, yes, that bothers me to no end. Are the Enforcers that chase you back to the Four Dragons Casino from the Las Venturas Planning Department in "Architectural Espionage" on loan from LSPD?

I read somewhere that the chopper in "Reuniting the Families" says "This is the Los Angeles Police Department!" as it approaches the motel. But last time I said it I clearly heard it as "Los Santos."

I'm waiting for some hidden code embedded into the game that has The Truth saying "Don't do drugs, kids!"

In a lot of cases, San Andrea's set's drugs down.

Like, how the girl in "Beatdown on B-Dup" Mission near the end of the game, she's skinny as hell and her voice sounds like 3 marching bands with no fingers, each stuck to seven C4's and was forced to sing "Ba Ba Black Sheep" all night to some rich ass pre-madonna who sweared to kill their family in exchange for Skittles and some Oreo's.

Also, In the mission "Cleaning the Hood", that gives you the idea drugs are bad. First thing, Big Bear was clean until B Dup treated him into drugs. Now Big Bear does his house work and cleans his house for drugs.

Also, plain as this, you die from drugs ;D.

And also In the mission "End of the Line", Big Smoke is all drugged up, and you lose your brotherhood because of drugs."

I also found that Ice-T, a west-coast legend, is also playing a west-coast legend in this game. ;D.

dr. hobo...I believe you must have missed the context of it all. I know who it is.

GlockWorkz, the legendary Ice-T indeed voices Madd Dogg. I can recognize that voice anytime.

In reference to what you posted about the attitudes toward drugs in SA, I'm going to veer offtopic a bit - Big Smoke is smoking weed in the "End of the Line" cutscene. He died (in my game) from repeatedly receiving SPAS-12 combat shotgun rounds to the head. Not from hitting the bong, though he is selling crack and that's at the heart of his betrayal of the Grove. Pot kills no one. But maniacs with shotguns do. The rest of the references are to crack which, yes, kills and destroys lives. To equate the two both sells short the destructiveness of crack and exaggerates the effects of pot. (I hope this doesn't become the topic of this thread now...so let's keep it about SA now.) I meant my reference to The Truth's "hidden cutscene" as a joke and to my knowledge no such thing truly exists.

Back to sifting through the little things in this great game. Did you notice that same woman is sitting at the table on the very next mission cutscene, "Grove 4 Life?" Thanks for participating, Glock, and keep contributing!

And finally, to confirm Holmes' findings about the Picador...yes, it does seem to come up San Fierro at times later in the game. This is what I did:

First I loaded my save from my all-missions-finished, ~86 percent complete game saved at The Camel's Toe in Las Venturas. I found an Infernus to jack and ride to Grove Street where Ryder's Picador spawned - with a Los Santos license plate. Finding debunked? Nope. I drove the Picador to San Fierro, saved at the Hashbury garage and saved my game. I return to find the plate has changed to San Fierro and is randomized rather than having "SHERM" on it. Interesting. I drive back to Los Santos, get to the Grove and lo and behold, Ryder's Picador says "San Fierro" on it - and "SHERM." Three times I drove out of draw space of the Grove and returned to find the same thing. Good catch, Holmes! First I thought this might've been a UK-release oddity or a product of mods (modded versions of the game can cause shifty spawning and other strange things, like cars spawning instead of Caddies on the golf courses.)

"You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be."

"Naw, it's Just Business. This is strictly for the homies."

Pertaining to the Crack Palace (not the Crack Den which is a separate, distinct interior seen in "Cleaning The Hood")...there's an anachronism of sorts within to add to the thread:

In Smoke's room on the top floor there is a safe in the corner near the video game console that's open, cash poured out. It's actual U.S. currency superimposed into textures. Look in the camera at it and see obvious bills re-designed with bigger faces and numbers. Those re-designs of American cash came later in the 1990s than when SA is set.

I need to find a copy of VC. Have only messed around with the start of the game because I didn't own anything but a PS1 and a Game Boy when VC came out. My brother had it but it stopped playing after apparently (after I looked at the disc) he had set it on fire and then tried to put it out with a cheese grater.

Moving out on your own makes you forego things you want in life...

I mentioned the following and ran it by Mxyzptlk on the secretos y huevos de pascua thread. Has anyone found this *perpetual blue hell jump?*

Go into blue hell with the jetpack and fly to Dillimore. Closest entrances to the nether realm I know of are the building in Blueberry with the Sprunk sign and the safe house in Mulholland (not Madd Dogg's). You can enter the gas station from "Tanker Commander" from Blue Hell as the back rooms are not solid - not the floors and not the walls. But the front of the store's floor is solid so you can land inside. Take off the jetpack. Then walk through the walls toward the back of the store. Whee! Then the game tries to respawn you on the nonsolid plane of the back rooms and CJ goes falling again. And again. And again. No time to throw explosives and spawning the jetpack via cheat doesn't seem to work either. Not even when trying to time the final button of the cheat code with his respawning at the surface. It seems you have to abort your game to get out of it.
