What kind of video memory do you have??

Graphics card:

- AGP

- PCI-Express

"Integrated" graphics:

- ATI IGP graphics chip with shared memory

- Shared video memory with the system's main RAM (usually an Intel motherboard feature)

thx for replying presidentkiller

Well I have an Integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2 (inbuilt graphics card).

The game runs perfectly fine on the other computer (though it is much slower that this one p3)

Another thing, the first time when one runs the game, the game optimizes graphics accordng to the graphics card. This didnt happen when I startedthe game. May be the problem lies here...?

one again thx for replying

Well, I've checked out Intel's website and it says that there's no known issues with GTA: Vice City, so it may be the fact that it didn't optimize the textures as you have pointed out (but if it did the first time that you ran the game, then it's just fine).

If you want the game to re-optimize the textures...

-delete from the "Grand Theft Auto Vice City/models" directory the files "TXD.DIR" and "TXD.IMG" (if they exist)

- delete from the "Grand Theft Auto Vice City/data" directory the file "CAPS.DAT"

- delete from the "My Documents/GTA Vice City User Files" directory the "GTA_VC.SET" file.

You can also try out the latest patch for Vice City, it fixes some graphics issues:

http://www.take2games.com/index.php?p=supp...section=patches

I hope this helps you. smile.gif

EDIT: I've added some info I've got at Take2's support site.

Ok, this topic is sort-of old but, I've just read it, and I have the same problem, it just says "Marco's Bistro etc.." then freezes, then when I click Enter, it closes the program completly.

And, I have no joystick, or gamepad plugged in...

Do you have Service Pack 3.0 installed? Do you have Direct X 9.0 installed?

I'm having the same problem, except that when I go to load my game that I had previously saved, it doesn't go anywhere and the screen is just black. I had installed a patch a few days ago for the graphics issues (whenever I did a "insane stunt" the game would slow waaaay down) I was having (vice city 1.1 patch by the way).. would that have anything to do with my problem? It was working before, but not anymore and that's why I'm thinking that.

MY OS is WIn XP, AMD AthelonXP processor 2000+ 1.67 GHz, 1G ddr ram, 48X DVD drive, DirectX 9.0 on my sound card (Creative labs Audigy 2Zs) and video card (Gforce FX 5700 utlra), and I have TONS of free hard disk space.

I'd appreciate any help I can get to resolving this matter so I can get back to wasting my free time on playing Vice City. biggrin.gif Thanks.

Edited to add: Also, yesterday before the game died, the radio stations were not working at all.
