You have to use the internal drive, which is impossible on the slimline PS2. Sorry.

Modding the PS2 version of SA has been banned by R* so you can't legally do it anymore.

Uh, no.

You'll have to contact the authors of the software you're using, since it's obviously a problem with their software, rather than Barton's method.

You don't need any disc for this to work. Copy the game onto the hard drive, mod it, then run it straight off the hard drive. I'm not sure why you're trying to use discs.

Then you can't do it. The problem lies with either YOUR hardware or YOUR software, not Barton's tutorial. This is not the place to discuss it.

Is it ok to use the official PS2 HDD?  I have both this and HDAdvance and I've been wanting to mod GTA SA for a while now.
I do... matter of fact thats why i bought a PS2 Harddrive  smile.gif

It seems to me the question is unanswered, can I use the official PS2 Harddrive??? I'm about to enter the evil domain of hdd-modding ph34r.gif

This topic is over 2 years old. Anyway, you can use an official PS2 HD but they were only included with PS2 Linux devkits. They are rare, I would sell it and just use a normal HD.

The simpler way is to just mod the PC version. This was made before the PC version was released, so that wasn't an option.

No HDD method should be something along these lines:

5. Make a copy of your GTA SA DVD to your pc hdd.

6. Delete the gta3_1.img file. You can't mod the game without doing this.

7. Modify the game on your pc in any way you want.

8. Start cdgenps2. Copy the game from your PC HDD to cdgenps2 using drag-and-drop method (don't think there are any other way)

9. Click the IMG button.

10. Select ISO files (and only ISO files)

11. Put in a filename there and press "save" (or whatever)

then load that ISO file into whatever burning software you're using.

thanx biggrin.gif

now i know what i was doing rong

i didnt delete the gta3_1 img

thts why it froze up on the loading screen

Bumped by 2 years... read the date of the post above you and you can tell that no one cares for these topics to be bumped anymore.

I don't see what the problem is about getting the PC version. It shouldn't cost much now and it's way easier to mod than the PS2 version.

It IS kinda scary to see K^2 talking like a normal person though lol. Amazing what 5 years can do tofor you.

The topic creator left the forum, the additional information isn't much interesting...I think this topic needs a lock.
