thedude420 Posted February 17, 2005 Share Posted February 17, 2005 (edited) @TripleAs: thank you for the info and the textures man. i was looking though the shirts and what not and like alot of the basic shirts are all the same with the logos just slapped on to them, like a quick crop and cut. seems real lazy by rockstar. i actualy went and warpped the picture around the wrinkles in the shirt and added shading where it should be. rockstar did none of that with theres. then like the diffrent colors it looks like the just adjusted the color balance on the shirts and diffrent pants and did nothing else really to get it to look right. the grean and red jeans look like sh*t. to bad half the shoes dont fit the models that are ported over good. like for the base5 model that was ported the shoes are dress shoes that are modeled. i had a hell of a time just getting the shelltoes i made to look right on it. i really hate to sound like everone else but i really wish ModellingMan man would release the cjmodel with the hoody and adidas type shoes. its my fav model in san an my self. i even made a skin for it too but i guess that dosnt matter. well i think this turned out real real well anyway. disclaimer: the onlything on the model thats not modifyed by me is the head and that silver whatever patch that is by the shoes. edit: if your game crashes from the skin rename it something with a less characters. i seem it have had that problem with the large name. that game dosnt like them for some damn reason. In all fairness, yours looks much better and I would have been comparitively embarassed including this one. thats pertty sweet man. you should still release it, it looks as good as mine. you also did a damn good job getting the shirt red. i had a pain in the ass time trying to my self. took me so long till i thought it looked alright. mine looks brighter then your but i dont mind i have bright red ecko shirt my self so i know how vibrant they can get. also i seen you made the actual skin lighter. i have to ask why? anyway that is wierd that we made the same skin at the same time without each other knowing it. oh well like i said just release it anyway. im sure your pack will be all over the internet on countless gta forums while mine will just be on here rotting. so your the one that wins in the end with it man not me. Lexicon Posted February 18, 2005 Share Posted February 18, 2005 (edited) Thanks for the Inquiry, the skin is lighter beacause it is part of a huge project I've undertaken to completely retexture CJ. Modellinman got me the CJ files from SanAn and I've been busy at work trying to redo them all. It's not however really feesable to retexture "all" of them (quite a few textures are just 32x32 squares of one solid colour) I think I'll get it to about 80%. This skin colour is just the colour of the new character I'm working on. As of now I've done 26 heads, encompassing all of the hairstyles and masks, the 6 torsos and legs to correspond with CJ's varying physical states. all the jewelery, all 22 t-shirts, all hoodies, twelve pairs of shoes and eight pairs of pants. I've also drawn about 20 tattoos but haven't gotten around to scanning them yet (Another reason I lightened the skin is to facilitate coloured tattoos) Overall I figure I'm at about 20% Here's a couple random examples: None of these are final, I keep finding things about the face I don't like and have had to revise it more times than I care to count. Make arms that mirror CJ pysical state (instead of the recoloured default ones I'm using right now) And the inevitable retooling on all the skins I'll have to do when I can finally check them out ingame. My big problem with the original textures from SanAn is that most of them are just simple Apply Image and replace colour jobs. The reason why I'm glad I scrapped that particular shirt is I started to get lazy on the textures that you can just do that too. I'd rather just abandon it. As for yours, I gotta say I really like but shoe, but reduce the contrast on the pants, other than that good job. Keep skinning. Peace. The eyes look a bit too bright white, the shoes need an underneath texture. How many people do you know with green goatees? I dont like the way the hair stretches onto the forehead either. And about the hair, how many people do you see without hair dangling over their forehead? And i dont see whats lame about P.Ming for the skin either. Also Soul's Skin would look better on the model because the model IS Gordon Freeman, therefore it would look better.
