high biggrin.gif into landscapes art stuff just started using a new prog.....

ive just started playing around with sketch,... ........eh up yeh . wonderin how do you get away frrom boxes n triangles to smooth landscapes ?...anyways ,i started off with a box and came up with this picture-2 -colour-color

@junox listen mate, aslong as you have something to show, and ur posting it in here.. we will offer help, tips and advice and ways to improve it and sometimes our own opinions...

 

so, dont worry, this is the correct forum for what you have posted wink.gif the only problem is i dont know what program you are using, (sketchup maybe) well i dont know how to work that program either, im a max modeler and a slight zmod person.. i cant help u out, but if it is sketchup, maybe pm Bcspeed34? hes a good mate of mine and a good sketchup guy, im pretty sure he would be able to help you out wink.gif

Sketchup can render without lines. If that's what you want..

Window > Display Settings > Edge Color > None

 

You may also need to smooth the mesh if you want a smooth render.

Select the mesh, Window > Soften Edges > 180 Degrees, then tick the "Soften Coplanar" box and after you've rendered the whole thing, simply undo it.

That's a nice render too, keep up your work smile.gif

 

EDIT: Crap, I didn't see you figured it out already. Oh well..

 

Anymore questions? I've been using Sketchup for years..

these are all basic ideas i now they all are very spartan but once i add trees n shrubs here's wishful thinking ....

Oh yeah..

 

Another suggestion, if you're doing objects like roads, sidewalks it would be a thing to have the same width, otherwise it would be a bunch of unmeasured polys. Lemme explain how to set the same lenght.

 

Go to the pencil tool and click it, click once anywhere. Drag your mouse on the red/green axis. Then type in your average road width. It can vary, but choose a rounded value (5").

 

Sidewalks and the pavements need width adjustement too, but that's just the same way.

 

Other method, but more complicated;

 

Find the measure tool, it's under the Text Tool (notice the AB..), measure the width of the road segment. Choose a rounded value, draw a line from the corner where the width is f*cked up and drag the line until it toggles to light purple if you're lucky. Draw the line a little bit further than the vertice on the the other side. Then draw a line from the vertice on the other side and the lines should be crossing each other. Retrace the edge by drawing a line from the vertice to the crossing point. The empty spot should be filled with a face. If you done that, select both edges and face, copy and paste them (located on the top toolbar). and attach the crossing point with the actual lines to the left/right side, at last, delete the useless edges and that's the end of the f*cking tutorial.

 

By the way, adjusting the road width if you're having exsisting roads, it's way to hard to understand if I have to post it here. So if you want, send me the .skp file and I'll do it by myself.

i thought i would never have something to post here but meh... times changes... I'm work on some buildings, mostly stuff for rendering, I have some models made on 3ds, but only now with sketchup i'm concluding something with right proportions... here's my 1st "good" try, it's a cargo depot, ususly saw in industrial areas... many of the parts are modeled instead of using the software components (somehow i can't feel like using they due some proportions they have that are not the standart for me)... and the car is mine also, but modelled on 3ds.

Several reports of the disturbing appearance of the petrolosis towers has been made by citizens flying in there helicopters or executive jets, one was so furious he wrote in to tell us about it:

 

"I was flying my Jet over the lovely Scenery of Lynx city to notice all of a sudden my wife starting to ush my children away from the window, she said "By gosh David, have a look at those!" i got out of my seat and was horrified to see a massive pair of womens Breasts staring me in the face, or a very fat mans chest.."

 

We got in touch with the owners of the Petrolosis towers, Mr Matthew Gibbs (head of petrolosis) said in reply:

 

"yeah, so what.. like we give a sh(rude word)t, the towers are a representable mark on the lynx city soil of what the workers of lynx can achieve, hey we got the record for fastest building ever being built, the secret being have aload of sweaty men build a pair of 2 huge boobs with spikes on top, theres nothing wrong with that..  infact the shape of the tower attracts more looks from above from tourists and executive flyers then any other building, now you are not telling me this is a Bad thing are you?"

 

we got in touch with the public, 99/100 people we asked on the street said "do they really look like that from the top? cool.. get us a picture will ya?"

 

we also got intouch with the lynx city council about this issue.. no further action will be taken they claimed.

anyways here's the bunker area, roughly set out with main conection road

will attempt to make the area a bit more realistic (well you know-detail's) so now starting to add some detals here and there . but hey getting ahead of myself .

@junox: that looks real f*cking awsome and well modeled for sure. i just have a suggestion. try to rework the textures so they arent so straight forward and more blended together. like have dirt along the side of the road and have it blend in to the grass. i know it with take more images to make it look better but it will be worth it. also try not to over use the tileable textures all over. it just looks like one big repearting pattern. textures with some shadowing would help also.

 

anyway keep up the good work it looks f*cking cool. cool.gif

what i could go with is a good texture for a rockface i no there one in the game but cant find it its very light and was used originally in gta3--------------------- as a rocky island anyone no where its located confused.gif
