Paigey
Some awesome things going around here. Uni could you point me in the direction of those nice texture packs? I've got a project due for Thursday at college and I've not even began to map it because the 3DSMAX building and wall textures are terrible. ParoXum
A low poly tree i've been working on for PSP : 6 textures, each 128*128 (16colors) 1130 Triangles total.
Rawra
Ofcourse, it isn't as good as your full potential so it won't look great But, considering it is lowpoly, it looks very good and detailed. gj Is it for a game?
Puma06111991
Wut's PSP..? Nice tree though, only the base looks a bit cut-off, maybe you'd make that a big more 'grounded'. Speakertower, wip.

Flat Face
paro thats far too high a poly for a psp game.. i made some nice tree's at less than half that poly count, someone of your skill should be able to make some even better ones.
ParoXum
It's far from being too high poly. You dont know what you're saying.
Quadropheniac90
@Parox: The tree is very detailed, not like crappy GTA trees. I can't spot any alpha errors, but that's probably cause it's a render, no?
ParoXum
It's not a render, it's a viewport shot. GTA used to work under renderware on PS2/PSP, I'm not using a streaming engine like it for my works. Which permit massive instancing of meshes. 1200 triangles is still low poly for a such detailed result. A character uses upto 2500 triangles or more on PSP depending of the game. Blah blah blah teun.steenbekkers : thanks, what types of alpha error are you talking about ? Zbuffer sorting ?
Kowaah
I think he's talking about DX5 version support for alphas.
chngdman
GTA used to work under renderware on PS2/PSP PSP wasn't renderware. At least, VCS wasn't. I think LCS wasn't either...
ParoXum
Yeah anyway it's was a sort of blend between RW and Rage I guess. Some bastard engine.

So basicly what you are saying is that, Rockstar Games couldn't use Renderware back then, which they already paid for, because EA bought Criterion? Seems like a stupid thing, but it could be true. And I thought they've used a diff engine, but some people with "more knowledge" already bashed me because of my theory. So yeah...
Arvis
Made a building which is based on Turning Torso skyscraper in Sweden, Malmo. It's not supposed to be exact copy, so you may notice something different. You can the the original building here: http://turningtorso.com/ Hope you like it. dizturbd
@coin-god: Very nice! What is this for? @vecis: show a closer render to show detail. It looks like a twisted box that has textures.
Hollaz
@vecis: show a closer render to show detail. It looks like a twisted box that has textures. Isn't that what it is in reality too? Very nice Arvis.
JostVice
Arvis, it looks alright but it looks like a undetailed box from that distance. Do a more HD render guy. Damn you diz, you said the same as me
Arvis
Not a lot to show, it's not fully detailed, windows aren't extruded and such, so it hasn't huge poly count, yeah, more texture work is there. And as Hollaz said, that's what it actually is.
Puma06111991
Building looks ok, but as said by yourself already: it's very simple.. God created the world in 7 days, I did it in a little over two hours. Just wanted to create a map so I created a map. Modeled the road very easy and created some poly's between it. First thing to do now is make those 'lots' less highpoly so they fit the map, then update the road with bridges etc., make the island an island and give it some details. Last thing to do is get it ingame and then I'm going to divide it into lots and let people hire lots. That's the idea, hopefully it get's finished... And I thought they've used a diff engine, but some people with "more knowledge" already bashed me because of my theory. So yeah... Well, that's the thing. EA got sneaky and tried to buy Criterion in order to force transparency from Rockstar since they used the technology. They COULD have used it, but they would have been forced into openness to the dark side (EA). After that blew up in EA's face who didn't realize that North and Leeds would just replace the rendering pipeline, they then started all that aggressive takeover stuff in the news last year. So, they weren't disallowed, they just chose not to, because of the motives EA had in purchasing Criterion. They didn't care about RW, they wanted Rockstar's secrets (it's why Saints Row is so utterly sh*t, imo, but this part is opinion ) Who bashed you? Shame on them!
