Ok I'm not disputing that but... this is the maps PPC where you post maps you're working on for gta.. 1 it's not a map and 2 it's not for gta *by the looks of things*

So what. Then you wouldn't be allowed to post a single building because you can only post complete maps here if you take the rules strictly. Stop talking dumb sh*t. If I'd say that I was going to put this ingame nobody whines. If I only post a model that doesn't have anything to do with gta, people start crying. In this topic you're meant to show pictures of maps or part of maps. Wanna live by the rules? Then you wouldn't be allowed to post in this topic either, because more a showroom than a chat topic.

Chairs don't belong in maps, it's true. It's not a map, it's some random geometry and some chairs.

I wouldn't complain about non-GTA maps, I will post my Unity fun in here til I'm blue in the face - but they're maps, not chairs. He really did have a point, he was just prickly about it tounge2.gif

I was kinda waiting for you to post an update, because the buildings are only textured half. The walls got a texture, but the windows are just plain white. The streets have a texture, but the pavement is left untextured. Next time post pics of untextured or fully textured buildings, but doing half the work isn't gonna get you much comments.

The model itself looks pretty ok, but I want to see it fully textured smile.gif. Once it's finished I'm able to give it some more feedback, because then your shortcomings come up when it comes to your modeling and texturing skills.

I think it's a very ugly design, fits right into the world war 2. The scale isn't right: the floors at the big windows are larger than the ground floor. Also, the windows aren't even mapped properly: two small parts of the window are sticking out a bit between the window and the wall. The wall texture looks very tiled and the stairs that lead to the front door are way too high. Add more detail and use less repeating textures.

Don't think you get much positive comments when you start with SketchUp: it's the negative comments that you get the tips and hints from to be a better modeler smile.gif.

Where's the chimney? Now Santa can't enter it nervous.gif

I think Santa will get shown down by either the IRA or the British army on his way there )

Um, so, yeah, been learning Max after 2 years of using SketchUp... Kinda hard to get used to, but it's going well so far:

I've been using a great tutorial to make this model, but I'm stuck at one point, I'm supposed to make a door and another window and a door in the model like this:

But how would I achieve this? I've tried using the connect funtion, but to no avail. My model looks like this:

Any ideas?

My method(May seem a tad unorthodox): Of the empty wall, connect the large vertical edge, and the one on the opposite side at the bottom. on Connect slide it to 100 til its at the bottom and then just move the edge up - it will be perfectly aligned etc.

Sorry if unclear.

Use cut, in vertex mode, instead of connect - you can make lines straighter after the cut with text input from the vertex you started on for example so dont worry about a perfect cut at first, but DO fix them and be sure your stuff always "squares up" wink.gif

And good work, I see you trying to stay with quads and a clean cage, but remember, loops go all the way around! Good working and learning otherwise CF33.

I think it would be better if he used Slice Plane sigh.gif

I think it wouldn't, the cuts he'd make with a slice plane in this case, where the cuts need to be, they would make duplicate vertex and he'd have to weld then fix those anyway. sigh.gif

Simply cut or connect vertically and restore the alignement using the align buttons in edge mode (x,y,z buttons). But what Rawra said is often faster (less clicks) when you're used to it.

Thanks guys, got it done using Brian's method of cutting. MisterEuro's method also worked for me though smile.gif. I tried Rawra's method but couldn't quite get to grips with it, I'm sure I will at some point though smile.gif.

Thanks,

CF33
