Last time, I got JasonB to turn it from 3ds to dff and txd, well this time, I don't thing he's going to re-texture all this! So any volenteers to get this in game for me?

Suggestion; wouldn't your pics look better if you'd AA them?

Window > Preferences > OpenGL, then tick the box "Use hardware acceleration."

 

Concerning my half assed crap, I'll texture the mesh, then post pics afterwards.

 

EDIT: Ignore the weird texturing, blame Sketchup.

anyway---remember im using sketchup!! im going to split the cole file into a few parts ,and

Sounds like the old Zmodeler/Colmaker mirrored colfile problem. Try mirroring on the z (I think... it's ben a while since I've used it) axis in Colmaker.

@junox v good, now u just gotta get the rest ingame.. and i still think u need to scale it abit more, cos the rancher is a big suv.. and it doesnt even fill up 1 lane, rescale the map so that it does, or just retexture ur freeway to have another lane smile.gif

How come when i export form Sketchup(.3ds) and then import it into Z-Modeler only some of the textures appear? I know that its "normal" for them to appear dark and i know how to fix it, but my problem is that they don't appear at all.

.3ds is a bitch of a format and to me i cant see any uses of what it does, it just screws ur normals and names of textures/objects..

 

the reason y the texture isnt appearing is becuase .3ds has renamed it on export so u have to re-assign the textures to where they are needed...

hang in there though think of the learning curve youre on ( have a wee scream to yourself i have biggrin.gif

 

also check all the file's are where they should be

and are named correctly

if its on the pink bar at startup its probably the col f in file suicidal.gif

if youre model is too dark turn up the luminosity(zmod) in the material editor

select material editor then select texture click on colour-color turn up to full

hay presto bright in game thanks to ( Andy80586 ) for that one page

Yeah, I had to too.

 

It's fecking annoying, try keeping texture names in 8.3 format.

my own aswell learnt over tha last month

please note -this is a temp (measure)

if using sketchup to make models and you need a col file to work try this

start your model really basic ....ok no detail s or anything save this file

and make it into youre col file easy then go back and add all

youre detail to the model i usually try to make the col at the end

just make sure everything you want to be solid is in this at the start

@PlatinumSerb, If i'm right, you are using 3d max? you probably exported the collision file wrong, when you move a pivot and you export it get's reseted to its origenal place, this doesn't happend with dff's. Make a cube or something, go into vertex/face/polygon mode, select all delete them, then select the object (it's still there just doesn't have any vertex's and faces anymore) and convert it to editable mesh and then attach it to you'r model, this way it will use the box's pivot point, make sure u place it where you want you'r pivot tho.
