Hidden Interiors via the Ganton Gym!

Well, that was good while it lasted. I haven't really been keeping track of what's been going on here for the past couple of days and for some reason i'd got it into my head that all these new interiors were only reachable with gameshark and stuff like that. But anyway, after getting home a little worse for drink I thought I'd have a quick explore with help as usual from this thread. I followed the instructions and what do you know...

...A big garage appeared. Wow! And then I found i could walk around inside it. Double-Wow!

Then I moved on to the cafe. Not seen that before. Must be cutscene place, I thought. Went inside there, walked around. Yay!

Suburban and Ammu-nation - Good, but I can see them anytime.

Headed west a bit more and found the marker for 24/7 and entered. That's the first time i've got in there as I never seemed to be able to find it before. Couldn't find a way out of there. I made it through the doors (which was a surprise) into that dark box like area, but had to kill myself or reload.

Reloaded and tested theory of whether you have to kill people in the gym or not. No trouble getting on top of gym but didn't make it far after that.

Reloaded again headed for the new bedroom (via warehouse2) but never made it before jetpack gave in. maybe i'll try again soon.

So I've had a nice trip, took some good photos and i'm still enjoying SA. Nothing new to add yet. just want to say thanks again to all those who are finding all this stuff.

I'd quite like to get to that stadium, but I now seem determined to do everything without cheat discs. Not that bothered about Liberty any more unless there's a way to walk on bits I haven't already - maybe some bit's used in the DVD are solid.

Thanks to DuffMan's orange boundary dots, I think I figured out the explanation for the anti-jetpack zones.

I overlaid the map with where the game thinks you are by lining up the San Fierro Garage location. The orange dots line up really well with the water on the top and left, and the hills on the bottom. This would explain why (15) the LV Police Department is in an anti-jetpack zone and (14) the Planning Department isn't.

The good news is that he was able to fly over the river to the south and get all the way to the hills. That means you can cross narrow bodies of water if you go straight across rapidly, and it wouldn't hurt to gain full altitude first.

I added a white line at the exact vertical center of the overlay map. Notice that many of the things we've found have been at exactly dead center. This is probably the zero-point in their coordinate system, and the middle of their work area when they load it into their editing software. To keep things neat, they could line things up from left to right on the center line, and occasionally going above or below if they run out of room.

There's probably more to explore to the east of marker (9) if you're careful to stay just north of the water. There may be things right on the edge of the water that you can only get to from the north side. It may be off the map for us, but on their map there's still room.

It should be possible to get to the stadium using this map, as well as below part of Liberty City by going out to the end of the runway, although you still probably couldn't get high enough to reach it. Maybe you could look up and see the bottom of it.

That was a GREAT find. I was contemplating lining the Garage to its real self in San Fierro to see where everything would be on the REAL map. The game must switch coordinates when you enter... like... they make the map move to coordinate x, y to make it LOOK like your in the store, when in reality... your over bone county. etc etc

This is a good find, and if there's any way to shade in both maps together, where one is shadow'd over the other to see its true location, this would help EVERYONE out.

Wish I could find my photoshop CD angry.gif

Here's a more useful variation of the map. The water is shown in red. Wander into the red zone for too long and down you go. Edit: It looks like you may not be able to cross red zones at all, except for the narrow one that runs through the marker numbers "23" and "11" and "3" on the map.

If you want to try to go to the stadium, I recommend you stay as high as the jetpack will go the whole way. The stadium is so big and tall, and surrounded by music, that you can't miss it from being too high. The camera distance from CJ will move away and back when you hit the jetpack's max height, which is only about 8 seconds up from the ground.

daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn! You're a freaking genius! cookie.gifcookie.gifcookie.gif

Those points fit perfectly. Even with the copy that I have, with 4-5 new points, they fit along that shore perfectly. I'm going to have to try that route... it seems like it makes sense.

Ok, here's my 50/50 opacity map overlap. The scale is actually slightly off, but damn close tounge.gif

The top is fitting perfectly... notice how one point is actually on a bridge leading to LV? I remember flying straight west, then straight up, to get to that point. I think it's possible to fly along bridges, which could lead us to fly around the LV area, who knows what we'll find wow.gif

Gotta try that LC path now!

EDIT: TY for that new map with water showing!

Alright, first attempt to follow your route: I get stopped just south of where the orange dot is where you first presumably cross the river, on the red map. Next up: I'm going to try and take that western bridge across.

How the hell did you find that out? Did you travel along the border and map it out? If so you are extremly devoted to this and its appreciated.

Maybe something like this. Except, this goes over some pretty mountainous terrain that could be hazardous. I don't know why you got stopped out down there once before.

bubu: The red zones are the water parts of a map I lined up with where we found the SF Garage. The theory that you can't fly over water seems to be holding.

Hey you guys, it looks like flying sideways (X+L2 or X+R2) instead of forward (X+forward) would be a better way to cross red zones. I did an experiment flying from a low roof towards a skyscraper each way. With X+forward, I didn't gain any altitude and actually lost a little altitude. With X+L2, I flew about the same speed but I gained so much altitude while I was going that I cleared the whole skyscraper. Check out this video:

Forward first, then sideways (no GameShark codes):

Here's what I did. First parked a hydra in the San Fierro garage and memorized the exact position it was in (barely fits). Then via the gym I went to number 8 on the map you guys have. Through there I flew sideways with the jetpack on a carefull route to the San Fierro garage(don't fly over any big bodies of water). Any vehicle in the garage turns invisible (thats why I remembered what position it was in). Then I tried to fly to LC but couldn't find it. Am I missing something or is LC still too high.

P.S. Has anyone else had this idea?

The problem is, the SF Garage is down at ground level, and once you're down there you can't get back up through the max altitude limit. Everything in the hidden interiors is above the max altitude limit.

I'm starting to suspect we can't leave Red County. I used the sideways method to fly straight across along the beach line east to west to the stadium area and I heard the stadium music, but then I still fell down. I had reached well within the music area, almost to the lighthouse.

Edit: I tried again and even got past the lighthouse, as far as the middle of the music area. I got into the stadium music for a few seconds and then fell out of it.

Edit: Here's a new theory. We can't see how they've segmented the map because we don't see load screens like we did in Vice City (thankfully!), but territories probably are still loaded in sections. Maybe when you leave the Red County area, it loads the next county at the correct altitude far below at ground level. The reason we're getting dropped when we hit the water could be just because the water is the edge of Red County on the north and west sides, and the mountain ridge is the divider between Red County and Los Santos on the south side.

Here's a better code to make the jetpack work anywhere. It reduces gravity just a little, so it's not so out of control going up, and you can move forwards and backwards when you're not above its normal altitude limit. This is supposed to work on any cheat device (AR2, GameShark, etc)

Jetpack unlimited height and works indoors anywhere

(use L2 and R2 to move around at high altitude)

1024E2E4 00003BB0

NOTE: You can get to everything in this thread without any GameShark codes except LC and the Stadium. You ONLY need it to get to Liberty City or the Stadium, or to go into the red areas.

Please respond to the following:

DO YOU NEED A GAMESHARK TO GET TO LIBERTY CITY?

Also is there anyway to get past the invisible walls near the LC area?

Sorry, I saw everyone talk about flying to Liberty City and getting there but not saying anything about a barrier. And those videos (what I thought) was made w/o GameShark.

Please respond to the following:

DO YOU NEED A GAMESHARK TO GET TO LIBERTY CITY?

Also is there anyway to get past the invisible walls near the LC area?

What stage are you at in the game?

I ask this because I get the impression that you haven't done the mission that takes you to Liberty yet. The easiest way to get there is start the mission, arrive there and then just do what you want without completing the mission. So, as long as you haven't already completed this mission and saved, you can go there anytime.

In short:

If you start the mission called 'Saint Mark's Bistro' and you haven't saved for a while - deliberately FAIL IT. Then save. Then save a SEPERATE file just for Liberty exploration - make sure that in this save you have all equipment you might want (parachute, camera, grenades...) and be close to the mission start (I'm in the Pirate casino). Return to your original save and carry on playing the game as normal, so you don't ruin the mission for yourself. Once past the mission you can return to Liberty whenever just by using your 'Liberty' save.

This thread talks about various methods of exploration:

St. Mark’s Bistro Located & Explored. Although you can probably now swap the grenade technique for the new jump cheats that were announced recently. You still can't use the jetpack and this only gives you access to certain areas, but it's the best we can do so far without Gameshark and stuff like that.

Sorry if you knew that already or if you've already completed the mission.

If you're thinking "But, I wanna go there NOW." Then I say get one of the cheats discs and do it. But Liberty is only really special and worth it IF you're not supposed to be there. If anyone could go there at any time people would be complaining how crap it is and how there's nothing to do.

So I say - Wait it out. If you're at flying school then you're going to be there soon anyway.

lol. my son said before christmas. LOL

P.S. There are spoilers within this post no tags... and?

aight... well the "Liberty City" is basically just a portion modeled after Liberty City, specifically the Saint Mark's section of Portland. You can see the above ground train tracks suspended in the air... like the J train in Brooklyn, or 176 in the Bronx. Anyway, Your not gonna be able to drive all thru it like you would in GTA3. Matter fact, alot of it isn't even solid. Just graphics. Its supposed to be Liberty City in the winter, as there is snow all over. To get to it, your gonna NEED a gameshark or something else to keep you high enough.

@wierdal:

Liberty is a little above most interiors, and goes beyond an invisible No Fly Zone line... basically meaning the jetpack dies before you can reach it. The only way the jetpack functions is if you kill the 4 people in the gym... If you try to leave the gym area with the jetpack, you'll find yourself sinking back to the ground with no way to get back up. Although we all thought the jetpack ran on distance from the ground... that was proved false in two occasions..

1. The fact that the jetpack works after killing the 4 people in ganton gym

2. The fact it doesn't work when you do the Saint Marks Bistro mission.

The jetpack functions by god knows what.

It flies when it wants, and is as glitchy as the hells/heavens sections of GTA.

My theory in terms of this and reaching Liberty city...

-maybe if you kill enough people in the interior worlds, you can open up the no fly zone, and expand it... possibly enough to reach Liberty... but then again... that is a hypothesis with NO factual backing behind it... Goddamn I'm smart. Read books kids.

-then again, you might kill everyone and still just not fly. Maybe it just wants you to fly where it wants you to fly... ie: Once you land on the LV police department... you'll find it hard to fly anywhere.

P.S. Edison...  cookie.gif

Thanks for the map with the little room.

[edit]

The little room was hard to get to, as its past the NFZ (No Fly Zone) area of the Jetpack, so I found myself using L2 and R2 to fly as well as holding them both to see where it was, and then using them again to get to it. I managed to land on it, and I noticed that this room was supposed to belong to a female. I found several stiletto's and i found a top & panties set.  blush.gif

Also found alot of posters...

Top Down City, Badfellas, Half Cocked

etc etc

Thanx. one more thing. What's up with the mission? could u fill me in on that too? The St. Marks Bistro, or whatever it's called. suicidal.gif

In Saint Mark's Bistro... you have to kill the Forelli's...

I be damned if I remember which one, bullets ain't racist.

Basically, you start inside the restaurant, shooting sh*t up.

After that, you go down and onto whats supposed to be the "final showdown" area... (please note if you kill the guy with the arrow on his head, but leave some people alive, this mission does NOT end... everyone's gotta die)

In order to get over it, you gotta walk to one of the walls with the high piles of snow and throw a grenade, then press square + forward to jump and you'll fly over the wall... now you gotta just be weary of where you step, and you can see parts of the city like that. it goes into further detail at:

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=165095

Anyway... its kind of a whack mission... as the autoaim makes killing anything easy. Plus i had hitman with M4... heads were rolling.

No no no no no!!!!! Im close to 100%.

Then I feel you've either got to

  • Cheat.
  • Restart.
  • Suddenly remember that you did a seperate save earlier in the game.
  • Suddenly remember that you have a friend who has only just got to LV.
  • Discover a new way of getting there.

    or

  • (as I think Forelli's licence plate says) '4GEDIT'

Anyone got any screenshots of "portland" in the liberty city hell? I'd love to see. I also have one of those "X-Port" devices that could allow me to share a "Liberty City " save, but the only problem is that I've gotten past saint marks bistro mission and saved over. If only I could find a save there or one already in liberty.. that'd be sweet. Hmm, I could still share the "Territory Glitch" in a save if you want. That one seems simple enough.

x-port allows shareing saves with other x-port (and probably sharkport) users as well. I know X-Port supports both kinds of saves Shark and X-port..so shark is probably the same way. (otherwise that'd be gay eh?)

after a few tries, I think I may have passed the barrier! Right now I'm much farther than I've been before... I don't wanna screw this up though. I've been using the strafe method, which may help?

We'll see how far I can get dontgetit.gif

EDIT 1: As far as I got cryani.gif

EDIT 2: Ok, second try, much weirder. I got the "Loading..." screen, yet was still moving at the same pace towards the marker. This time, I entered at the Record Label Hallway, instead of marker #2, if that makes a difference. We'll see.

EDIT 3: Bah, the loading screen must've knocked me down with the jetpack still working.

You've got my sympathies. I know exactly how you feel. It took me loads of tries just to get to that small bedroom. Anywhere else is a nightmare.

Good luck on your next attempt.

------------------------------------------

Edit: Wolfmight: There's some screenshots of Liberty in my gallery here if you're interested. It's only the bit's around the Bistro though.

Edit again: Oh - They're not from 'Hell', just during the mission.

Thanks, your post actually got me to try and go to the bedroom. Made it the first try. You know why? Strafe, R2 and L2. I was able to fly over the barrier no problem. Once I saw it below me (way below), however, things get interesting. As soon as I let go of strafing, I start to drop, and strafing no longer works. I had to maneouvre myself so that I landed on top of it perfectly. Going to LC now to try it out.

EDIT 1: I see LC tounge2.giftounge2.giftounge2.gif

It's directly above me, but so damn high! It was above... damnit, lost it now. I'll vid it up next round here. I won't be able to screenshot it by taking my hand off the controller. As long as you can keep on holding L2 or R2, you can go anywhere! *runs off to try and get higher*
