Hidden Interiors via the Ganton Gym!

It's a Ground Level interior.... or warehouse.

It's not a real interior. It's in interior group 0, meaning it's not hidden, it's not locked, the screen doesn't fade before you get there, it doesn't load separately with a text, it's simply always available and viewable.

 

A real groundlevel interior are like the garages with interiors in SF. They are in interior group 1 and at exactly the same coordinates and location in the gameworld as the "shell" of it when you're outside and in interior group 0, meaning, you're not in an interior.

 

Groundlevel interiors are interiors with copies of the surrounding objects seen when you're outside. It's real interiors with windows so you can see the world outside the interior. What you're really seeing is a copy of the world outside. An example of this is the entire intro mission. The airport you see and the cutscene with the police and CJ takes place in an interior that is a copy of the game world. Can't remeber what interior group exactly, but when you're "in it", there are no cars driving around and it basically looks like Liberty since just parts of the city is in there.

think you can get us a list of what interiors load under which groups? or at least point me in the direction of what file it is in the GTA:SA disc?

@carpet... you know what i noticed... in all the ground interiors you listed... area 69 isn't one of them. lol. we've all been just overlooking this interior because we all knew about it for so long, we didn't even number it. Too bad it can't be number 69 now. lol

I already did. Look in the .ipl files. Look for a line with just ENEX in it. Below it are the enex sections. Those sets up the interior entry markers and teleporting system from the "real world" to the interiors. The last 2 params before the name in quotes are the interior groups (usually). One is the group you teleport from, the other the group you teleport to. How this info can be useful to you without a coords mod or similar I have no idea. All I know is from reading the codes in the mission script.

 

EDIT: Here's some mission script code generated from the ipl files that shows the full original description of each enex section. The texts are from the GXT file. Is this useful ? confused.gif

I added that interior to a list collected up from edison's info a few pages back.

 

 

An example of this is the entire intro mission. The airport you see and the cutscene with the police and CJ takes place in an interior that is a copy of the game world. Can't remeber what interior group exactly, but when you're "in it", there are no cars driving around and it basically looks like Liberty since just parts of the city is in there.

 

Never saw the edit.

 

Interesting fact though, that game world you mentioned sounds just like a section of the "Burning Desire" mission where the house is.

About the girlfriend theory... that one with the rims inside is definitely michelle's, which would make the following?

wouldnt this waste disk memory? surely if would be more efficient to just use the real world?

 

plus, how come the cinematic cuts away to the game screen so quickly when CJ is pushed out of the car then?

Right I just got back and had a quick read through.

 

As far as Barton's code goes -

I don't pretend to understand most of what was said. So I'm going to ask a question for people like me.

 

In the lines:

Does the FB indicate which 'interior group' these belong to? So a different group might have GD or CY?

If this is the case then all girlfriend rooms are in the same group. If these are what we refer to as the girlfriend interiors then 'group obviously doesn't mean the same as 'heaven' as I had hoped. If we knew ahead of time which interiors made up each heaven that would be a big help.

 

@ Duffman - I would imagine Millie's room is the one we see in the game.

 

@ Barton - For our listing purposes ALL interiors are counted. It doesn't matter which interior group they come under or how a programmer would look at them. If they can be entered - they go on the list.

This may go against the 'HIDDEN' aspect of this topic. But then again one of the first to be listed was the betting shop which can be entered at any time just by going to its yellow entry marker. If we count those it is only a small step to counting those that exist in the 'real' world but are locked. From there I just thought we might as well make the definitive list of all interior you can enter. Once they are divided into heavens the differences will be clear.

 

Area 69 is not on the list because...

 

Well I guess it should be now. Now that we are counting universe K (real world + blue hell) then it should be listed. At the time when I was considering it (actually around no.69) I was dead against non-heaven inclusions. How times change.

 

@ ChaosAlert - I must have missed that list with area 69 on it. Sorry.

 

@ WTP129 - You sent me a PM asking about stadiums and included the list of stadium coordinates you posted earlier. To answer your question here:

 

I know nothing about getting info from files on the game disc. I don't really understand what I'm looking at when I see those lists. You can gather that from the fact that it took me a couple of days to work out that 'LA' at the beginning of a filename = Los Angeles. sigh.gif

I only have 3 stadiums listed and I posted a request for any help with names/ heavens /new ones yesterday. If anyone can help please do. As far as any questions regarding code I suggest you send them to one of the members that have posted some themselves.

I can see it's broken down into simple sections and it's referring to the dirt stadium. Which parts mean what? What information would a knowledgable person gather from a simple line like that? I'm just interested and I hope some others are to. Just the one reply though.

Do we know how many heavens?

 

So if I look at DAM (for instance) and see which number is in front. And find another interior that I either already know the heaven or can enter from exterior world with the same number - then we can go and see it?

 

Did that make sense?

What Heaven was Michelle's new interior found in? Was it the Thief heaven?

 

on those codes you sent me - does a name beginning with SV mean it's a save point (safehouse)?

The San Fierro Hidden and Lost Tattoo Parlor is in Rusty Heaven. We've got to find a way into these heavens. I would suggest the 24/7... seeing as how maybe this 24/7 has a weak wall also

I know advertising isn't allowed, but using this tool here is a much more efficient way of searching for interiors because you can select what interior groups to see and you get the coordinates of them too. It also makes it much easier to see what interiors are normal, unused, hidden and what their original purpose was.

Ah, but where's the fun in that? I was happy in the old days when we just went flying off into the unknown and occasionally struck lucky.

 

I've knowm from the beginning that exploring a created world is a waste of time because the original designer will have all the maps and know exactly what's out there. It's a bit like pondering on the meaning of existence when you live right next door to God.

 

But sometimes I like a challenge. I'm grateful for any input from people 'in the know' but I enjoyed just looking around myself, trying to solve a puzzle. This is the first topic where I've felt there was a bit of a team effort going into something. King Arthur's knights on the search for the Holy Grail.

 

To be fair though. Thanks. I won't be using it myself as my computer really needs a major overhaul and I'm not going to add more stuff to it before then. Maybe later though.

If someone else turns up with fully detailed maps and lists of everything out there tomorrow, then I won't complain.

 

What you can't see is that all this has just been my way of learning about game design. If I find something interesting and set myself a fun little project to do while I still know nothing - then I usually come out of it knowing far more and with more experience than if I done some evening course in it. I know very little of modding and game design, which is odd as it's probably something I'd be quite good at. But now i've seen some of the basics, it's just another step to try something else.

EDIT again: Can someone check for airports in Wardrobe heaven? I have a feeling they're grouped with Dider Sachs.

A 24/7 also loads in this heaven.

The airport cutscene is in group 14 at -1836, 9, 1061.

uh, should be above the SF airport
