When SA is available on PC the modding scene will begin climbing to new heights, challenges and glory, here's what we want to have, for starters. This list is not "simply" about textures or new high-poly-cars, but gameplay additions and tweaks, new missions and anything fun R* might have left out!

 

 

Yellow Items are confirmed possible!!!

 

 

Vehicle additions and Modifications
  • real first person in-car camera
  • Missile countermeasures (flares/chaffs) for any airborne vehicle
  • Machine gun on any car (vehicle)
  • Remote control any Vehicle
  • Damage proof cars
  • NOS mod on all cars, even offside vehicles.
  • Unlock parked cars, lock car from inside
  • Spawn FBI Truck(the one with the turret, working!) and SWAT Tank
  • Additional Mods in Transfender&Co: Immunities, lockable
  • Mark cars with the mobile-chip, find them, these cars will spawn in Wang's.
  • No more disappearing cars in Garages.
  • Toggle lights
  • Working anti-fog lights (Highly unlikely, imho)

  • Serial killer mission (you must follow a set of rules of who to kill, when and why, like ladies with pink hats only)

     

     

  • Vampire Mod: you can always and only replenish your own health by "gathering/sucking up" blood stains. In daytime all your stats/skills are halfed, sun burns your health rapidly, and you MUST use shades or else just see white screen when under open sky. In nighttime you've superjump, resistance against falling damage, nightvision, killing punch, natural armor, cannot use firearms and can morph and "flutter" slowly like a bat. You gather a "gang" by giving the "Kiss of death", but you have to sneak up to them. Time passes much slower (longer days and night, not slow motion).

    All gangs are Vampires, they (almost) only come out at night and have same advantages/weaknesses, but are much fewer. They can get killed only in melee or by fire, but you're very sensible to fire too.

    If a transformed (kissed) ped lives longer than a day he will stay in the turf and will get resistant to sunlight over time. To protect and save them from death and help them getting stronger and resistant you have to keep them inside buildings for some time until they can take care of the hood by themselves (ie. don't get killed by running stupidly around in the sun because of their stupid AI). No "Grove" street gang members spawn anymore, you have to "recruit" and help them for the first days yourself.

    Cars can be modded with sunray-blockers, so you can drive around during day, any other cars do not protect you at all so you lose health driving them.

    At night normal Cops only drive around in locked FBI-Trucks/SWAT Tanks, and don't leave their cars unless the car is about to explode. No one dares to walk around on foot.

    "Men in Black" who are aware of Vampires, are very strong and are a neutral threat and have HQs like the police which they protect. These MIBs make especially potent gangmembers, but hard to recruit/"kiss". They spawn very seldom and singly, and hunt you by all means when you're spotted (but ignore your gang).

     

  • Home-Defense: Defend your countryside house or farm from sneaky camouflaged attackers, which come randomly and alone, one by one. They want to get into the house, but can also use windows (so no camping by the door) and climb fences. Attackers are sometimes alternated by snipers that will try to shoot you. You may place a few guards strategically. You should use infrared googles and must survive the night, if you leave you lose.
  • Rubberduck Mod: Drive your Truck from LS into the desert, Trucks will follow and keep your rear clear, cops will attack you, no other cars on the roads, highways are stinger-stripped. Also attract Media Helicopters or News Vans to keep police behaviour docile, if you kill/ drive over peds the media will turn away for some time and the police can and will get harsher. Fetch a girlfriend, and while she's with you the other trucks will defend you more actively, but if you brake some rule (going too fast, killing peds, damaging your truck, going thru certain areas, losing the trailer) she will leave you.
  • Tenpenny Mod: Play a cop, earn commendations and rewards, ie. respect and cops are your gang. Finish what Tenpenny started wink.gif
  • Fat ugly Ballas swarming in on Easter Bay Chemicals (or anywhere else) dropping in from helis etc., blow them away!
  • WW2 dogfighting
  • Golfing on the many golf courses of SA, or minigolf selector (sounds possible and fun to me)
  • Off-course golfing: Through a whole city or countryside! Par=120 blink.gif
  • Dodgerocket: Ped attacks you with rockets, evade and attack.
  • Start any mission at any time selector
  • Play RC Car/Plane/Chopper/Tank (?) selector (Reminds me of the TopFun Vans!)
  • Camping: Take a Camper or Journey, set up a nice little fire in the woods which doesn't cease, health rises (food), sit down leisurely, time slows down, nice camera views.
  • Camper Wars: Rivaling camping grounds in the badlands, like Gang Wars.
  • Waterworld Mod: Flood almost whole of San Andreas (raise water level) and play Waterworld, with oxygenmask or the like and submarine vehicles. edit: This game would begin with you in a sailingboat far away from actual San Andreas, you will have to search for it
  • Evil Bigfoot: Go hunting in the woods, he's a stealthy guy and eats people! He's targetable only with heat goggles donned
  • Get Green Goo, mark the seven mysterious "lil' Probe Inn" positions (gov forces will give you hard times) and watch the aliens land and make you invincible and superpowered (but very hungry maybe?)
  • More bad ol' Mafia!
  • Make the "additional territories glitch" readily available (As seen and explored in THIS Thread)
  • Flights to Vice City, Liberty City, Myriad???
  • Online Gang Warfare: *undisclosed*
  • Make the Andromeda your personal mobile HQ, with weapons Pickups and a garage (it's big enough, isn't it?)

 

 

 

Gameplay enhancements and implementations
  • Taxi takes you to the spot you marked on the map.
  • Taxis or Gangmembers drive you back to a missionmarker when you failed (wasted/busted) on that mission.
  • Good citizens reward
  • Robbing stores, restaurants etc.
  • Extreme Wager: Select two or more Peds, give them armor & weapons (the higher the wage, the less deadlier the weapon), put your wager on one of them, and let them fight. If your guy wins, you get the money. Could also be more twisted with a hunter and a fleeing Ped, they could use vehicles etc.
  • Wildlife (I doubt it. Still would like to hunt though)
  • Markers on hidden tags, oysters, horse shoes, unique stunt jumps, hidden odd jobs
  • Teleportation / Exploring: Mark & use locations, preset locations, Liberty City, Mission only interiors (A classic!)
  • Real-time mod
  • Weather mod (or set weather)
  • Player model selector (from existing special actor models) (if it works with the clothes system) (Like change your identity, a shabby backyard surgeon maybe, sterilising with whiskey...)
  • Save anywhere, or even better in Campers and Journeys which are mobile saving points, park them where you want and save via R3.
  • Normal Peds and even cops may enter your gang
  • Riots: Get 6 stars Wanted Levels and Peds go into Riots. Police then spawns only around their HQs. No more P&S, only entering a spot in one of their HQs ends wanted levels and riots.
  • R3 addition for the Leviathan (Or any other whirley and the RC Goblin): Magnet pod
  • Enter cars as passenger. Taxis will take you to the nearest safehouse
  • A freight train waits on the tracks at east basin by the import/export, and you can lift cars onto it and transport them anywhere by train and drive off the waggon there.
  • Softer Cleanup routines, so when mission begins or ends not everything is removed, like your car etc.
  • Cars that have been in a garage never disappear, unless exploded or game resetted.
  • Active, attacking and damageable marine lifeforms
  • Submarine weapon(s)
  • Jetpack even more as weapon, turn off/on so always with you, maybe even with some sort of propellant (like spraycan)?
  • Spawn any car anywhere
  • Create up to 30 actors to follow you (w/different models)
  • Remove auto-aim. cry.gif

 

 

 

Easier Playing and fun elements
  • Get gym equipment into safe houses
  • Make safe house kitchens functional, snacks, drinks etc.
  • Weed tattoos available
  • Tschitti-Tschitti-Bang-Bang Mod: Make a car behave like a Hydra
  • total Player immunity (except drowning yet)
  • carry food with you mod (very nice idea. Maybe a "weapon"?)
  • Unlimited health (One the game doesn't count, eh? wink.gif )
  • Police bribe button (Just a simpler cheat code? I'd think of making a phone-call, a minute later you're not wanted anymore. One could even make up a mission to "unlock" this feature.)
  • Set muscles / fat
  • Set Wanted level
  • Open all shops (like Didier Sachs)
  • Parties, on the beach and in selected Areas
  • Additional animations for CJ: Lying down (like on towel), sitting, etc.
  • Get all your assetmoney from one spot, eg. bank
  • Walkman/mp3 player/Radio while on foot
  • All weapons available in AmmuNation from beginning
  • "Untouchable", Police chases but won't arrest you
  • Set your own Radar Blips/Locators

 

 

 

Tools & Editors
  • Ingame Speed, coordinates & angle display
  • Ingame Memory Viewer/Editor
  • Memory Viewer
  • Texture Editor
  • Paintjob creator for any vehicle
It seems there's progression in here. As soon as insights have developed and our GTAforums-experts can say more what can be done, I will add a "Confirmed possible" list in this post (NOT "Done", there's another place for that). Oh joy cool.gif

 

It's not time to say Please right now, maybe, but there will come a time to say Thank you for sure, my dear shadelorian & Co, ok? turn.gif Also, if I may add, I'm tring to keep a "roleplayers" eye on the list, like what fits into the San Andreas world, in kind of aesthetical point of view. Naturally many very strange, indecent and even outrageous modifications will be available sometime, but I wish to stay in the spirit of GTA San Andreas here.

 

I have now added the "Tools" section. Should be obvious why. Any additional suggestions, aka Wünsche Beschwerden Anregungen?

Mer Cinder, clothes and tats would be more models & skins, I'm rather talking about scripting. And multiplayer, aren't we're all dreaming about that one? But that would be a hack in the exe, that PITA is for someone else like MTA, and they took a long time. What's "toggle parachute"? And shootintg while parachuting, why is that?

Chalkstar, yes that Leviathan with the magnet is a definite must-be!!

perhaps all I'd do are tweaks to the gangs via texture editing and try and set some Mafiosos in LV and Russians in LS and perhaps even make additional street gangs like a Sons of Samoa type gang (Samoan models are in-game already)

 

I'd have the Bloods over Ballas, Crips over Families, Nortenos 14 over Vagos and Surenos 13 over Aztecas

 

and I'd edit some of the clothes with more texturing, that's about it. If it goes online, like another MTA I'd like to see more focus on the gang aspect of the game (synced drive-bys)

 

I doubt it very much but I'd like to see or do a Sydney mod for it too, something simple along the harbour, north Sydney, the inner west and the southern shire

Yeah right, San Andreas definitely needs more high class criminal "gangs" like the Mafia. Not sure about Samoans and the russians though, they're rather off the shoot, imho.

I really like the idea of submarines and the like.

 

It is a good idea to flood SA and have fun. Only a few buidlings aren't totally submerged.

 

We could use little submarines and boats and big yachts and water planes!

I would buy the PC version as well as the Ps2 version if the modding community would really tear into it and make it better, i didn't see a fantastic amount of sucessful mods for Liberty and Vice, or am I missing something?

  • the ability to make CJ like 60 times bigger than he is now muscle/fat wise lol i think that wud be funny.

You simply have to look at what we had to work with then and the sheer amount of options we have to work with now.

 

ex. were Customizable vehicles, great reflections, customizable outfits and body work, new animations, new physics, new lighting etc available in gta3 and gtavc?

well ur asking a question to someone who has no idea about modding so to put it in a condecending tone is a little inappropriate.

 

It would be nice for a modder to elaborate one some of the more feasible ideas. Maybe give an example of a project that you'd like to take on so we have an idea of what will come.

editing/creating models(cars etc buildings)/textures/ where the peds walk ( so u can create a new city and not make the peds walk into walls) / well multiplayer would be feasable but i that wud be up to the usual candidates to do that / errrrrrrrrrrr storylines?? ( cant remember long time since i been into the modding scene

There's a simple file in the data folder that tells the game engine which vehicles can be modded and with which parts.

 

For some reason the motorbikes have been rem'ed out, but have several exhaust upgrades next to their names.

 

This will be very easy to change to allow customising of all vehicles.

 

A walkman/mp3 player, for when on foot, cycling or swimming.

 

Instead of just being able to flood, a variable water level (using water.dat/waterpro.dat) so it's possible to drive on the sea and river beds.

 

CJ's body is written into a file which can be changed, removal of size limits for obesity shouldn't be a problem. Also rate of weapon training, stamina, driving, flying, bike and cycle stats are easy to change too.

 

Improved garage, where cars don't disappear during saves. Modified cars don't change when saved in garages.

Long shot i know but is the AI easily editable? Not to a large scale but perhaps the police's actions for example?

How about creating enter'able buildings and interiors? and extra side missions? are these possible?

1. I think the AI can be edited, but only to a certain extent. Like aggression or reactions to situations.

 

2. Yes you can make enterable buildings and interiors, this was done since gta 3.

 

3. With mission coding you can make your own missions yes.

 

I've sort of dropped off the modding scene myself, but I plan to get back on for gta sa pc. Hope that answers your questions.

Thanks everyone for your participation! I will write this and then edit the first post for a clean list.

 

I have been modding Vice City myself, like Cars, models, textures, missions and scripting, so I think I have an eye for feasible and possible mods. What I have read so far sounds to me not many things have changed, like where's the model data and how is it organized.

 

I am far from pro on that (and didn't have a good look on the PS2 SA dvd yet), but almost everything you've seen done for VC is still possible here, but much more, and finding and identifying all the new opcodes will be hard time.

Also finding what's hardcoded and what's scripted will be a challenge, but I personally believe R* won't leave the interesting stuff outside the modding world (i.e. inside the exe) just because they're a mean bunch, but because of performance. So we'll see what's really possible and what's not.

 

So for example I think nice little stuff like the Leviathan-magnet, which you don't see throughout the game is possible, because they wouldn't carry it in the executables around if it's not used all the time, so there will be some handle for that available.

Again, I'm completely amateur on this, but I am planning and will be doing as much as I can, it's a love thing inlove.gifrahkstar2.gifinlove.gif

@shade: Whuh?

 

Dynamic water levels may be a little messy. I know GTA3 and Vice would only load most of the data files into memory at the first loading screen, so any changes made to the files (like the water levels) wouldn't take effect unless

(A) You restarted the game

(B) You forced a reload of the file (a lot of files like handling.cfg say 'Press START to reload this file during play)

 

It looks like there's a heap of really interesting additions to the mission script, but a lot of is still under investigation.

 

And let's not forget the nearly endless game world we now have ph34r.gif

Let's hope there's no internal limits on the amount of objects we can have ingame.

I've been making some notes for a mission based "mod shop" for SA that can be activated when on foot and not on a mission by pressing L1+L3+R3 a key combo blush.gif at the same time. It's not complete yet (the list I mean):

There was an utility to VC that allowed to add and remove and modify the data files, so we could add the Kuruma or Blista (the van from III) or Stinger model and make it spawn somewhere in the SCM (maybe in LC?), no loss of old cars but new cars in the game

Barton, I omitted the "girlfriend marker", because they're in the game already ...oh, did you mean a radar blip?? That's cluttered already, isn't it? Though it would be nice to "chip" a girlfriend, always knowing where she is then, the dreams of a control freak *g*. But I wonder if anyone would bother with girlfriends in a modded game. On the other hand, selecting your own girlfriend, a new one (bikini ped maybe?), with a Denise attitude (drive-bys etc.) would be nice, she's learning skills etc. too, but could she be saved?????

 

About the radar, very often I wished it would turn/orientate with CJs facing alone, but not with the camera. Unfortunately I'm quite sure that's hardcoded, so no chance on that one, is there (can't remember seeing that in any VC mod...)?

Needs special code. Needs to show only the radar blips you select. When you select radar markers on like all the horseshoes, you get one marker at a time, on the closest horseshoe, when you get there, you get the next closest one. Fastest way to find them all. And it's the only way I'm ever gonna be bothered looking for any of them. I'm not a map junkie. tounge.gif

 

All the girl friends could be shown at a time because there aren't that many of them. Also, it would be very useful to have the abillity to restore them when you get so fed up with them that you can't resist killing them. tounge.gif

Sounds good with the radar, though I doubt anyone having played the game would want to bother with collecting tags/horseshoes/oyster/wtf again, especially in a modded game. Ok, one mod that comes to my mind is being able to lock and shoot tags with a hydra, or maybe collecting horseshoes with a whirley w/magnet pod. It'd be ok too to collect oysters with a fishing rod. That would be new and worth doing them all over again wink.gif But I doubt it.

 

And about the "ex"-girlfriends, a savegame-editor should do the trick, doesn't it?

I'm thinking, if creating mods for the PS2 is illegal, if I create just one huge mod that has everything I can think of in it, if I only give it secretly to people requesting it by sending a PM to me, if it's the only mod I'll ever release for the PS2, then maby people would want to play through the game using it, even if it included more cheats ever used in any game ever in recorded history. notify.gif

 

About restoring the girlfriends, if you failed a girlfriend mission and couldn't be bothered to load a saved game to redo it, you would need a feature to restore that girl to replay that mission later.
