f*ck kellen winslow jr. he's a douchebag who makes silly decisons. soldja!

He looked like such a damn fool in that interview. C'mon Kel, you're not that good. Actually, it's hard to tell where he really stands because he can't stay on the field. I don't blame him for the onside kick, but rather his coaches. How can you put your top 10 draft pick on special teams? He shouldn't have been out there, even if the game was on the line. They wouldn't have been able to come back anyway. There were only like 15 seconds left, and they were down by a touchdown. Stuff like that angers me. I sub my rookies out in my Madden franchise all the time, and don't let any young starter do anything on special teams. Its just not worth it.

Seems like the Panthers' LB crew is cursed. Mark Fields is going to miss this season b/c of Hodgkin's disease, he also missed 2003 for the same reason. Im sure you all remember Sam Mills' cancer problems as a player and died recently while he was the LB coach for the Panthers.

and Winslow didnt play the Special Teams all the time did he? wasnt he just apart of the Hands team trying to recover the onside kick?

I'm pretty sure that they used him in FG/ Punt Blocks(/returns?) as well. He wasn't out on special teams 100% of the time, but a decent portion. I need to check that punt block thing.

There's really not much happening in the world of football right now, so with Madden coming out in about two months, how about we rate our team's players?

I'll probably just do the starters, since we really don't see much of the backups, obviously.

Colts:

QB:

Manning - 99

RB:

Edge - 97

Dominick Rhodes - 75 (I'd improve his speed, but he can't hold onto the ball)

WR:

Marvin Harrison - 98 (With only TO ahead of him. I think Moss falls atleats a point.)

Reggie Wayne - 90 (could be higher because of his hands, but he doesn't have great speed.)

Brandon Stokely - 87 (feels weird rating a slot reciever this high, but I think this is what he's actually rated in '05.)

Troy Walters - 67 (I hate this guy, but the Colts love him.)

TE:

Dallas Clark - 87 (could improve his blocking.)

Ben Hartsock - 75 (could improve his recieving.)

OT:

Tarik Glenn - 95 (left him the same, he's a tremendous blocker, but holds too much.)

Ryan Diem - 92 (may move to guard, if that happens... high 80's. He hasn't played the position in two years.)

OG:

Jake Scott - 79 (He can also play right tackle, but I think he's a better guard.)

Dylan Gandy - 69 (He'll probably be the started, and with Mudd teaching him, I'm sure he'll improve.)

Ryan Lilja - 75 (he's versatile, can play OT, OG, or C.

C: Jeff Saturday - 94 (he's one of the best in the league, possibly the best, but since he's not a household name, he won't be rated the highest.)

DE:

Freeney - 99 (put his speed up to 90, he runs a faster 40 than Marvin Harrison for chrissakes.)

Mathis - 86 (will still just play pass rush situations, so he'll be high because of speed, acceleration, and agility.)

Raheem Brock - 82

Jonathon Welsh - 65 (possible pass rush specialist)

Nathaniel Adibi - 65 (If any of you follow VTech football, you know this guy can be a pressence. He's also a possible pass rush specialest.)

DT:

Montae Reagor - 80 (He's our best DT... that's sad.)

Josh Williams - 72 (they need to release him... he's a bust, accept it.)

Larry Triplett - 74 (a little faster than Williams)

Vincent "Sweet Pea" Burns - 68 (He's a possible starter. Colts say they expect him to gain 20 pounds... great he'll be a whopping 280 pounds.)

OLB:

David Throton - 88 (I'm so happy we re-signed him, I was sick of losing good linebackers.)

Cato June - 86 (Can tackle, but doesn't cover the run that well yet. He's a converted safety.)

MLB:

Tyjuan Hagler - 69 (hits hard, but... he is a rookie.)

Gary Brackett - 72 (a veteran, but nothing special... I hope Hagler wins the job.)

CB:

Marlin Jackson - 79 (My prayers were answered. A hard-hitting corner, with a nose for the ball. He only fell because he had an average senior year.)

Nick Harper - 85 (He's actually a good coverman, really.)

Jason David - 80 (He played extremely well last year, showcases his speed and hands. But, he's 5'8".)

Joseph Jefferson - 75 (Big corner, but lacks the cover skills to be a fulltime starter.)

FS:

Mike Doss - 84 (has had injury problems, but is still the hard-hitter the Colts need in their secondary.)

SS:

Bob Sanders - 80 (5'8", but has great speed, and is probably our hardest hitter.)

K:

Mike Vanderjagt - 94 (I put him down because of his mouth. He makes our classy team look bad... and he's a KICKER!)

P:

Hunter Smith - 95 (became on of the top punter last year. An expert in pinning the ball inside the 10.)

I realize that a lot of people can't wait for the new Madden to come out every July or so, but I wish it'd come out later so that the rosters would be more accurate and such. There's also way too many player ratings that are off (usually being too low). Kevin Jones, for example, is rated in the mid-70's at the beginning of Madden 2005.

Well, he was drafted at the bottom of the second round. By the end of the year, I think he was an 85, or higher.

I love playing as the Colts in 05. You can get away with looping Mathis and Freeney on D, put a DT in zone over the middle (yes, it actually works), and let the safetys take up space in coverage. Their O is sick, and I love their playbook.

Here are the Cowboys

QB-

Bledsoe- 85. He's decent, but I'd like to see Henson in by the end of the year.

Henson- 80. A year digesting the NFL should improve AWR

Romo- 70. At times Romo was ahead of Henson on their depth chart last year. Parcells kind of likes him.

RB-

Julius Jones- 88. His speed was underrated last year at 90. Should be bumped to a 92-93. Had a great rookie campaign (when he was healthy)

Thomas- 82. Solid for the Bears last year.

Marion Barber- 71. Nice pick in the 4th round.

FB- Nothing notable. They won't be using a fullback much with Dan Campbell returning.

WR-

Keyshawn Johnson- 86. Had a decent year, and should be slightly downgraded from his 87 from last year.

Terry Glenn-87. Looked very good when healthy. Underrated speed in 05. Should be bumped to 93ish from 91.

Quincy Morgan- 83. Ok receiver, should put up solid numbers out of the slot. Has potential, but should be entering prime of career at his age.

TE-

Witten- 90. Coming off a great year. Should be bumped considerably across the board.

Dan Campbell- 83. Solid blocker.

LT-

Flozell Adams- 94. Turning into a perennial probowler.

LG- Larry Allan 91- Aging, but still great.

C- Al Johnson- 80. 2nd round pick a few years ago, shows potential

RG-Rivera- 91. Has been great for the Packers the last few years.

RT- Up in the air. Will be a weak spot.

DE- Marcus Spears 82. Will be a great DE in the 3-4, could play DT in 4-3, especially in pass rushing situations.

DE- Ellis- 90. 9.5 sacks last year. He's just an all around solid end.

While in the 4-3, Ware will see time as a DE. He'll be an 81 DE.

DT- Glover- 95. Slightly downgraded from 05.

DT- Ferguson- 86. Run stuffer for 3-4.

OLB- Ware while in 3-4- 80. Should get a lot of rushing opportunities, and will get to the passer. Very fast.

Singleton- 86. Decent OLB. Kind of undersized for any scheme.

Burnett- Another pretty good pick for the Cowboys. Got him in the 2nd round, and should compete for a starting job. Around 78 OVR Madden Rookie.

ILB- Dat Nyugen (sp)- 90. Very good tackler.

Brady James- Will move inside for 3-4. 79 OVR.

CB-

Newman- 86. Got bumped down last year as the front seven forced him to stay in coverage for 30 seconds each play. Not easy to stick with a WR when the QB has virtually as much time as he wants.

Henry- 82. Physical, slow corner. Doubt he will start the entire year over Glenn.

Glenn- 92. Fast vet that is very good in coverage. Small, but is proven as a CB in the NFL. Will be used in Nickel situations to start the year beacause of the ridiculous deal they gave Henry this offseason.

SS- Roy Williams- 97. Great in the box. Makes plays and hits like a pile of bricks. Good in coverage, but thrives in run support.

FS- Dixon/Scott/rookie- Some combination of them will man the FS spot. Dixon is a mid 70's Madden player, and that is all they really have.

Two things:

After having another great year, Larry Allen proved himself one of the best, and should go back into the high 90's.

And, will Ritchie Anderson be returning as the running backs coach? I read that he might do that.

Over The Wall

Point taken on Larry Allan. He did have a solid year, and I could have projected his OVR a little higher.

From what I've read on dallascowboys.com and listening to their radio shows, it seems like Anderson left on bitter terms with the Cowboys. He had his inevitable surgery very late in the offseason, and wouldn't have been ready for mini-camp, I believe. This didn't rest very well with Jerry Jones, and he pulled the plug.

edit: Oh, and Kevin Jones was picked 30th overall last year, not late 2nd. He was a 79 at the release of Madden 05, with 93 speed. I know too many pointless Madden attributes... like how Ray Lewis managed to not get a 99 IMP rating. Or that Terrell Suggs has 86 speed, Freeney has 87, and Julian Peterson, Lavar Arrington and Roy Williams all have 88.

edit2: Suggs might have 85. 85 seems more right. KJ might have been a 78 overall. Eh, I kind of lost track of their original stuff with the updated rosters coming out so often.

a toe injury ends Deon's career, yea that sounds about right.

Ronnie Lott amputates part of his pinkie just so he can stay in the game. Deon gets an ingrown toenail and its all over sarcasm.gif

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (May 13, 2005) -- Running back ReShard Lee agreed to a two-year deal with the Buffalo Bills.

Lee's agent, Harold Lewis, said his client is traveling to Orchard Park to sign the deal May 15. He didn't disclose terms of the deal. The team declined comment.

Lee, who was released by the Dallas Cowboys, is expected to compete for the backup job behind Willis McGahee.

Lee played in 14 games last season, running for 128 yards on 27 carries. He sought his release after the Cowboys signed Anthony Thomas.

In March, disgruntled Buffalo running back Travis Henry vowed he wouldn't practice or play for the Bills again. He was disciplined in April after missing the start of a mandatory minicamp.

The four-year veteran has one year left on his contract but has demanded a trade after losing his starting job last season to McGahee. Henry was a starter since his rookie season and was coming off consecutive 1,300-yard rushing campaigns before becoming the backup in October.

I'm a big Dallas Cowboys fan and I was really hoping we could hang on to this guy for Special Teams. He has great speed and is a great football player. Wish him the best at Buffalo. And here is the Jason White Deal.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 5, 2005) -- Jason White is getting another shot at the NFL with the Tennessee Titans.

The 2003 Heisman Trophy winner agreed to terms on a contract with the Titans. The former Oklahoma quarterback wasn't offered a contract after going through a three-day rookie camp with Kansas City last week.

White went undrafted despite leading the Sooners to the national title game in 2003 and '04. White threw 75 touchdown passes and went 24-3 the past two seasons with Oklahoma.

He finished his college career with 7,922 yards passing and 81 touchdown passes. But his arm strength is considered questionable for the NFL, and he has had major reconstructive surgery on both knees.

The Titans have an opening for the No. 3 quarterback job behind Steve McNair and Billy Volek. White also shares an agent with McNair.

White will be in town for the Titans' first minicamp workout of the offseason on May 17 with three other undrafted free-agent quarterbacks: Shane Boyd of Kentucky, Gino Guidugli of Cincinnati and Marcus Randall of LSU.

Wow I'm on a roll. Well, it looks like Patriots picked up another great Vet. Chad Brown, thats right.

Brown, drafted by Pittsburgh in the second round of the 1993 draft, spent four seasons with the Steelers before signing as a free agent with Seattle, where he spent the past eight seasons. The Seahawks released him after last season.

He is the third veteran free agent linebacker the Patriots have signed in the offseason, joining Monty Beisel and Wesly Mallard. The Super Bowl champions are retooling the position following the release of Roman Phifer and the uncertainty over the future of Tedy Bruschi, who may not play next season after suffering a mild stroke in February.

The 6-foot-2, 245-pound Brown has 78 career sacks, the most of any active NFL linebacker. In 156 starts, the Colorado product has 1,043 tackles, six interceptions, 19 forced fumbles and 15 fumble recoveries.

He played in the Pro Bowl following the 1996, 1998 and 1999 seasons.

How do you guys think Carlos Rodgers will be rated next year. He was a top-ten pick, so do you think they might put him in the mid-80's like they did with Sean Taylor last year?

IDMoi-1.jpg
Link to comment

Over The Wall

Carlos should be anywhere in the 78-81 area. Sean Taylor was kind of an exception at FS, and you usually don't see prospects like him roll around every year. In my opinion though, Sean Taylor is an oversized corner that didn't have the coverage skills to play corner so put on some weight and decided to play safety.

Top rookie corners usually find themselves in the high 70's to low 80's, so its fair to say that he'll be in that area.

About the Cowboys @ DJones:

Quincy Morgan downgraded that much? Possible but maybe a little unlikely. He didn't have a bad year, he just spent the year confused with a new play book.

Barber won't be a 70 but could be a 69? I'll admit that 70 is a little optimistic, but 69 isn't too much different.

I would say, the Falcons or Broncos

If the Broncos can straighten Plummer out or find a gem at QB, they could.

I feel bad for Braylon Edwards, though. The Browns are far away from even being talked about as playoff contenders.

Anyways, does anybody in hear collect football cards or is it just me?

How is Ricky Williams a disgrace to the game? Because he retired?

Everyone quits football, it's innevitable. It's obvious that he quit because of his third failed drug test, but he also admitted that he just plain didn't enjoy playing anymore, and that he hadn't enjoyed it for several years. He also said that he had told the Dolphins front office that he had been contemplating the idea of retiring for quite some time after the 2003 season, but was still unsure on the decision.

Ricky had a good career in the NFL, he outlasted the average career of an NFL running back by 5 years, and was considered the best in the league for atleast one year. Yes, ee left abruptly, and he hurt his team a lot... but don't blame Ricky for the lack of success the Dolphins had, blame Wannstedt. You cannot draw your entire gameplan around one player, because if he's unavailable for any reason, including injury and suspension, you're going to be in trouble. The Dolphins blamed Ricky for their horrible year when they should've blamed theirselves. If anyone is a disgrace to the game, it is Dave Wannstedt and the Dolphins organization. Ricky did nothing wrong, expect chose the wrong time to retire (it could've been done before the draft and free agency).

Also, I don't condone his drug use, I would never do anything of the sort, but if he wants to retire he can, and legally, he can whenever he wants.

Yeah, good point. But I think it is ridicoloud(sp?) to try and come back then just leave again because he just wants to continue to smoke his weed. I think he just let down a hell of a lot of fans down, now he is trying to come back right after the Dolphines just drafted Ronnie Brown with the 2nd pick in the draft. I think he is just coming back to pay the 8.6 million (I think) for retiring out of no where. I just think it is a wrong view for the NFL to young people like myself seeing one of your favorite and best players retire to smoke weed. Just IMO.
