White's too banged up. That USC qb could end up being a reliable 2nd string qb but White is too unreliable to even step off the field after one play. He's an old man with banged up knees now unfortunately. He used to be a pretty good qb till he got injured. I mean, he did get the Heisman n all.

Why did Dallas pass up on Derrick Johnson? Dexter Coakly left this year so I would figure that they would atleast draft DJ if he was there. But look what Parcels did last year by passing up Steve Jackson and look what he got, Julius Jones.

Ya know, I felt the same way when they passed on him. I really wanted him at the time, but am slowly beginning to understand their draft. Parcells wants to switch to the 3-4 incredibly badly, and is willing to dump a lot of players to do it. DJ doesn't project well as a 3-4 OLB, and will do best in a 4-3 role. We picked Ware instead of DJ because of the pass rush ability of Ware, and for no other reason. We liked Ware's potential as a rush backer and a 3-4 OLB a lot more than DJ's. Believe me, I love Derrick Johnson and think he will do well in the NFL, but Ware or Merriman fit the 3-4 profile much better. Why we're making the switch to the 3-4 is beyond me, but that's another story (will get into eventually).

Bill has used the 3-4 defense for every one of his teams, except the Cowboys. Them having such a bad year last year, is reason enough for Bill to revert back to his old style of coaching, which means the defense will be blitzing a lot, and Julius will be running a lot. I love it.

I know that the 3-4 makes Parcells happy in pants, but we don't have the type of players needed. Singleton and Dat are too small for the 3-4, so they'll both need to go. Where does that leave us at LB? I would have been perfectly fine with this had they picked up an Ed Hartwell (3-4 with the Ravens) or a Kendrel Bell in free agency, but we don't have the big linebackers needed at this point. Actually, I've already made the point that the Cowboys could have a solid front if they decided to stay with the 4-3, instead of relying on so many rookies with the 3-4.

If we had picked DJ (or Burnett) and traded with the Saints for Howard, we'd have a very solid 4-3 front with

 

Ellis Glover Ferguson Howard

Singleton Dat DJ (or Burnett)

 

but instead, we're going to start three rookies in the front 7

Singleton Dat Burnett Ware

 

This leaves Glover to split time with Ferguson, or play completely out of position at end and have Spears spell him. How can you do that to a proven pro-bowler?

Ellis is also undersized to play end.

Dat and Singleton are both undersized for LB in a 3-4 as well.

 

 

 

 

If we had this draft two years ago when Bill had just arrived, we would be in a much better spot.

I don't think it would be that big of a suprise if Clarett got a 1,000 yard season, Broncos have a great offensive line and practiclly every running back they draft have a great first season.

no chance he gets 1000 yards. he hasnt had a healthy season since junior year HS, hasnt played a real game since his rookie year (?), and wont be the starting RB.

I think that Harrington and the Lions have a good chance of being a surprising good team this year. There is so potential there that if the Lions go nowhere once again, I'm gonna call it the end for Harrington.

Well, if I recall when Lions drafted Rogers 2 years ago, he was doing great until he broke something and missed the rest of the season. And if I recell one more, didn't R. Williams get injured for a couple games last season? If Mike Williams,Rogers,and Roy Williams stay healthy, along with Harrington making good decisions and passes and Kevin Jones running the ball with confidence..I think the Lions are contenders this year.

I don't think that's a fair assessment. We haven't seen the kid play for two years, and we really don't know how he'll do on the pro level. Tatum Bell will be the starting HB for them this year, but I'm sure Clarett will see a decent amount of carries. Could be a terror within the 5 yardline.

Jason White was invited to the Kansas City training camp! He will (hopefully) make it. I've heard that he is doing alot better. It also said that all of the camera's went to Jason White, not none of the other picks. Thats what you get for being on the front cover on the Daily News every other weekend

I wish Jason White my best hope's I hope he makes it big, maybe a 2nd string QB his whole career or possibly be traded to be a contender for the 1st string (saying if he does good in Training Camp). Eh, no Heisman Quarterback has really been sucessful in the NFL..

and yes thats the reason they were drafted to make the team better and i believe many of them will do that

it doesn't matter to me that jason white couldn't win the big bowl. what he did in the regular season was proof enough that he's an excellent quarterback. and with some refinement on his talents, he could be a star. i'm just glad he got invited somewhere for camp because i was pissed when the draft left him high and dry.

Well first I'm glad that White got into a training camp. I never liked Oklahoma as a team but I did respect White's abilities. The thing I question is that there are..what..7 rounds in the draft?..and White still didn't get picked? How does someone who hasn't played in 2 years get picked over him? I wasn't aware that he had knee injuries or whatever but wasn't McGahee questionable last year in the draft and yet he still got picked? I didn't expect White to be a first rounder but atleast late in the draft to be picked. None-the-less atleast he got invited to a training camp.

Exactly the opposite. Tom Brady never got a chance to win a big game, he never played in a big game. Brian Griese was the star, then it was Drew Henson, Tom Brady didn't even start double-digit games. That's why he went so late... no experience. Jason White wasn't drafted because he has two blown knees, no arm, is a product of the players around him, and is a world renown choke-artist.

Dick Vermeil should go coach in the AFL, considering that you don't need to have a defense to win there.

 

As for Maurice Clarett, I don't think that the guy is going to play for at least a year or two. The Broncos have been waiting to put Tatum in the starting spot, and Clarett has two years of college experience that need to be made up for. He's not ready to play in the NFL yet, no matter how much weight he's lost.

What's with the Broncos getting an abundance of great running backs anyway? They usually have a backup who would be a starter on most other NFL teams. Either the running program and scouts are really that good in Denver or they just like to invest soley on running backs. They should get some receivers in my opinion.

They will for sure this next year's draft, because R.Smith MIGHT retire, and might is a big word... Lelie is doing awesome, he is bulking up and ran a faster 40...

The Arena league isn't a bad league. I'd say it takes more skill (offensively) to play in the AFL, and a lot of endurance. Except for the quaterback, AFL players play both sides of the ball, and that's no easy task. I wouldn't take "try out for the AFL" as a great compliment, but I wouldn't take it too personal either.

 

As for Vermiel... did he cry when he said that?

What is up with this whole Kellen Winslow(Browns) deal? He is getting his sign up bonus taken away from his ACCIDENT and might not play because of that, too...

It was an ACCIDENT that took place on a MOTORCYCLE. Players know of specific clauses of their contracts that could cost them millions. Most athletes have a clause against motorcycle riding, and in Winslow's case, if he misses games because of an injury he sustained in a motorcycle accident, he loses loads of guarenteed money. The NFL teams need to find a way to protect their investments. If Winslow was injuured in a car accident, he wouldn't lose any part of his contract. It was the motorcycle clause that costs him.

I don't think Tennessee has been making good decisions in general, even without all the cuts for salary-cap space. For example, they draft Adam Jones, who is probably going to have at least three different contract disputes with them, when players like Antrel were still available.

 

Now, considering that all of their star players have gone to a team within the conference (which will hurt them down the road), and that they have to make up for two starting corners with one rookie... it's going to take them at least a few seasons to rebuild.
