I Love Anna Kournikova

I think the raiders have been doing pretty good this offseason. I dont know if Im just saying that because thats my team or if they really are.

Phillip B cant cover anyone to save his life. He tries to make PLaymaker plays and always ends up getting burnt.

miami trades Patrick Surtain and their 5th round pick to the Chiefs for a 2nd and 5th round pick.

Alex Smith went 1st... pretty interesting that Rodgers hasn't even been picked yet after 23 picks. I would've thought Arizona would've picked them.

Green Bay has the chance to pick up a successor for Farve here at the 24th pick. They must be ecstatic Rodgers fell this far. Frye was who everyone was talking about them taking. If the Packers take him, he'll sit for atleast a year but he'll play soon since Favre probably won't be around too long.

Other than how far Rodgers has fallen, the other biggest surprise to me was Deroit taking Mike Williams at 10. I wasn't as high on Williams as alot of people, but I was astonished that Detroit, with two wide recievers taken in the first round the last two years would take Williams. I know Charles Rodgers hasn't been on the field much the last two seasons because of the collar bone injuries, but this isn't sending a good message to him.

Even though I wasn't high on him, I was sure Minnesota would take Williams with that 7th pick since Edwards was gone. They took Williamson instead. The Ravens made a good move in getting Mark Clayton. Matt Jones to Jacksonville was earlier than I expected.

*Edit

Aaron Rodgers finally gets picked by the Packers.

Another surprise for me: Jason Campbell gets drafted by the Washington Redskins at the 25th pick. I thought they might give Patrick Ramsey a chance this year to start at QB. He'll probably still start but this is gonna put some pressure on him.

Good day for the Colts. I would've liked someone different in the 2nd round, but still three quality players that will probably make an immediate impact.

Over The Wall

Odd day for Dallas- They are trying to set up a 3-4 defense for next year, while they have good pieces to run a 4-3. Picking Ware at 11 was a mistake with Merriman and DJ availible, and Spears was neccesary for the apparent switch to 3-4.

Clarett was picked with the last selection of the 3rd round, and went to a team with a great running system- the Denver Broncos. It should be interesting to see him in their system in the next few years. I really don't think that they need a RB so early (3rd round) because they already invested a 2nd from last season on Bell.

I honestly think Joe Gibbs has a vendetta against Patrick Ramsey. He's constantly trying to find someone to replace him, and considering Ramsey is only in his fourth year, that pick would have been much better used on a wide reciever or a defensive end (I'm not sure who was still available then).

I don't agree with the pick, but if Patrick had been older, I would have understood it. As of right now, I really don't.

I think the Cowboys have had the best draft so far.

Merriman is overrated, he's good, but DeMarcus Ware is just as good, but more athletic. Ware was deserving of that spot all along, and every time I saw a mock with the Cowboys picking Merriman, I cringed. It's surprising that Derrick Johnson fell, but not surprising the Cowboys passed on him. He's not a wrap-up tackler, he goes for the big hit or the big play, basically making him a "hit or miss" player, he also struggles getting off blocks. I think the Cowboys did the right thing passing on him, then picking up Kevin Burnett in later rounds. He'll fill the void Coakley left behind.

The Broncos are gonna be the rushing champs with Maurice Clarett... Tatum Bell was good last year but he was nothing like Reuben Droughns*Traded*...

I doubt the Broncos are going to be happy if they have to start Clarett in a single game next year. Bell will most likely be the starter like he would have been last year if it weren't for the hand injury. I think Clarett might be behind Griffin as well.

@BigGamer

I think some of the blame has to go to Spurrier for having Ramsey out there with no O-line. That year could have definitely taken it's toll on him. I definitely would have started Ramsey instead of Brunell last year though.

Ware is a little quicker than Merriman, but how can you question Merriman's athleticism with a 41 inch vertical jump? He's slightly slower than Ware, but 20+ lbs heavier. If we had picked DJ (or Burnett) and traded with the Saints for Howard, we'd have a very solid 4-3 front with

Ellis Glover Ferguson Howard

Singleton Dat DJ/ Burnett

but instead, we're going to start three rookies in the front 7

Ellis Ferguson Spears

Singleton Dat Burnett Ware

This leaves Glover to split time with Ferguson, or play completely out of position at end and split time with Spears. How can you do that to a proven pro-bowler?

Ellis is also undersized to play end, and coming off a 9 sack season, I think he deserves a full time job.

Dat and Sngleton are both undersized for LB in a 3-4 as well.

I don't like this very much. We also failed to address WR, FS, and our aging O-line.

They should have started Patrick from the start, considering that it would have sped up his study of the Gibbs offense. Now, we get to waste millions of dollars every year on a washed-up quarterback who won't throw the ball longer than five yards.

Cowboys won't be playing a fulltime 3-4, OTW. They've drafted the perfect personal to allow them to switch between a 4-3 and 3-4.

Ok, but we are going to eventually make a full switch to the 3-4. Not necessarily this season, but we will shift even more in that direction the following year.

I was tihnking, and we might get to see Ellis as a Rush Backer in the 3-4. Would be kind of interesting.

I have a feeling LaRoi Glover might be traded. Chris Canty and Marcus Spears can both play DT, and Ferguson is a better fit for a 3-4, so Glover is now expendable.

It only makes sense. He's kind of out of place in a hybrid defense, as he can be considered a "one trick pony". He's a one gap guy, and that gap needs to be on the inside. I don't think that they'll trade him unless the price is right.

Great Drafting.

I was just mad that J.White didn't get picked. I am sorda dispointed but I think he will do good on PS or NFLE.

Matt Jones is just a project for the Jags. Never expected him to be picked so early.

With Clarrett being drafted by the Broncos, if he's going to have any success at all in the NFL, it's going to be with them in my opinion.

I'm eager to see who is the best rookie receiver with Edwards and Williams floating around, it should be interesting.

Troy Williamson or Mark Clayton will have the best rookie years. Mark because he has Derek Mason to attract double-teams, and also Jamal Lewis who will make teams play with 8 men in the box. Troy Williamson because... Daunte Culpepper.

Isn't Jamal Lewis locked up?

Mike Williams for Offensive-ROYT? I doubt it, not unless Harrington can be a decent QB this year. Mike Williams was drafted by the Lions

1.Because Rodgers has been getting injured every year

2.To have course have an explosive offense with Harrington,Jones,Williams,Rodgers and Williams. Pretty good, and very young.

Why did Dallas pass up on Derrick Johnson? Dexter Coakly left this year so I would figure that they would atleast draft DJ if he was there. But look what Parcels did last year by passing up Steve Jackson and look what he got, Julius Jones.

If I remember right, the ESPN draft crew said that Jamal will be back in time for training camp.

speaking of jamals, what the f*ck ever happened to jamal anderson. of course, he must've retired due to bum knees, but f*ck as if that wasnt the most quiet farewell of all time...

also, random thoughts on the draft:

-detroit is f*cking stupid. their D is pourous. 3 1st round wideouts? hmmm, i sure hope (for their sake) that matt millen knows something that i dont.

-alex smith might be money. maybe. i would've been just as happy to pick up adrian mcpherson in the 4th or 5th round. and instead, gotten edwards. he's gonna Moss it up immediately, smith wont blossom until year 4, and methinks that SF will have egg on their face. mcpherson is dope, i really like teh athletic qbs. i DO like the oline draftees that SF made. all in all, a good draft for them.

-so...aaron rodgers as a packer? the kid grew up a niners fan (and we're talking the mid nineties here, where GB had a habit of bitchslapping SF out of the playoffs every year...) irony?

-i think that arizona had the best draft. that sh*t was money. good for them.

You could tell by his face he wasn't too happy being picked by them. Or it could've been because he was picked so late. Either way, he looked dissapointed.

Ya know, I felt the same way when they passed on him. I really wanted him at the time, but am slowly beginning to understand their draft. Parcells wants to switch to the 3-4 incredibly badly, and is willing to dump a lot of players to do it. DJ doesn't project well as a 3-4 OLB, and will do best in a 4-3 role. We picked Ware instead of DJ because of the pass rush ability of Ware, and for no other reason. We liked Ware's potential as a rush backer and a 3-4 OLB a lot more than DJ's. Believe me, I love Derrick Johnson and think he will do well in the NFL, but Ware or Merriman fit the 3-4 profile much better. Why we're making the switch to the 3-4 is beyond me, but that's another story (will get into eventually).

I think Chicago had a very good draft, they have always been a defensive type team and now with the additions of Cedric Benson,Kyle Orton, and Mark Bradley..they now have some types of offensive weapons.

@Larcen- Yeah Arizona upgraded on defense and got a pretty good running back, props to Dennis Green.

What team did Mike Williams get drafted by again? I want to keep an eye out on him this season, was a big fan of him when he played with USC.

Bill has used the 3-4 defense for every one of his teams, except the Cowboys. Them having such a bad year last year, is reason enough for Bill to revert back to his old style of coaching, which means the defense will be blitzing a lot, and Julius will be running a lot. I love it.

Joey Harrington has gotten better every year he's been in the league. Last year was only his second year in a WCO, and it usually takes young QB's 3 or more years to learn it properly. People are calling him a bust too early. Aside from Pollard, the talent around him is still young and inexperienced, so don't expect them to launch him into a masterful Drew Brees-like comeback season.

Why would a team draft USC's 2nd string QB, who hasnt had a college TD ever, but not draft White?

i cant understand if he had a great workout, but you cant measure in game performance at a workout.
