I feel you Toymachine. PS2 Madden sucks beyond belief. Oh well I'll just turn the music down and listen to my stereo, or listen to my ipod.

Does anyone know who will be on the cover of Madden 2007 by any chance?

Yeah but where have you been on knowing this? Its Shaun Alexander, lol

Everybody knows the Madden Jinx right? Funny thing is, Peyton Manning and yet to be on one. Do they think the Jinx is true and he don't want to sign on to one? lol just a though

IMO the madden jinx is the real deal. It happens year after year. THe guy on the cover gets hurt, or has a horrible season.

M. Faulk (Hurt and Bad Season)

M. Vick (Injured in preseason almost out for whole season)

R. Lewis (Injured almost whole season)

D. McNabb (Horrible Season)

S. Alexander.... Who knows?

Madden 2000 (released 1999). There were two covers. On one, John Madden was still the primary coverboy, but Barry Sanders was in the background. He abruptly retired this year. On the other, Dorsey Levens was on the cover. He only played seven games, and only had 224 yards for a 2.9 average. He was cut the following season. Both teams finished just 8-8.

Madden 2001 (released 2000). Eddie George was on the cover. He may have escaped the curse statistically, but he did have a fumble that single-handedly lost the game for them in the divisional playoffs. The following year, he only had 939 yards for a 3 yard average. Team finished 13-3, but lost in the playoffs as a result of an Eddie George fumble.

Madden 2002 (released 2001). Daunte Culpepper was on the cover. He missed five games, and for the next two years he had very average seasons. Team finished just 5-11.

Madden 2003 (released 2002). Marshall Faulk was on the cover. Played in 14 games, only started 10. It was his least productive season as a Ram, and he never had another season with 1,000 yards rushing again. Team finished just 7-9.

Madden 2004 (released 2003). Mike Vick was on the cover. Hit the hardest. He played in 5 games, only starting 4, and had a 69 QB rating. Team finished just 5-11.

Madden 2005 (released 2004). Ray Lewis was on the cover. Never went a whole season without getting an interception before this year. He was injured at the end of the year, and only played 6 games the following year. Team finished 9-7, missed the playoffs.

Madden 2006 (released 2005). Donovan McNabb was on the cover. Played only nine games. Team finished just 6-10.

If the curse didn't get them completely the year they were on it, it got them the following year. Every time.

I posted that on another forum, a little more insight on the Madden curse.

He was on NFL Fever so Madden can't use him.

I think the Madden curse is bullsh*t. Football is a contact sport and more likely than not you won't go healthy forever. An injury will happen. That Eddie George fumble sounds to me like just trying to squeeze the littlest reason for justification of the curse.

Ray Lewis also missed one game of the season after he appeared. 147 tackles doesn't seem like a bad year to me.

McNabb was having a great season before he got injured though.

Just imagine these people were on the cover last year. You could always justify the curse as no player is perfect.

Payton Manning-After a great season run lost in the playoffs to the underdog Steelers.

Roethlisberger-Injured midway through the season. Motorcycle accident.

Terrel Owens-Suspended mid way through the season.

Randy Moss-Injured for a couple of weeks, played with an injury posting the career low 1005 reception yards

You get what I'm saying?

It stops being a coincidence after eight players fall victim to the curse.

Ray Lewis never had a no interception season until the year he was on it... If something happends to Shaun we know for sure there is something fishy with being on the cover...

Since when is 147 tackles a bad season? Ah, and Ray Lewis is a Linebacker, they're not the primary guys to be intercepting the ball. Plus, 147 tackles really isn't being on a curse. If you're handings are butterfingers, that's your fault. confused.gif

No, wrong. Ray had six interceptions the year before he was on and multiple ones before that. Then he don't get any the year is he on it? He even had 1 last year and only played 6 games. 46 of those 146 tackles were assissted, so 100 was actually his and that is his low for playing a full season. Okay, whatever

He had 100 tackles. They had Gary Baxter, Ed Reed and Chris McCallister that could intercept the ball, which is there job. Stop acting like Ray Lewis had a horrible season, because he didn't. You're acting like 100 tackles is nothing.

God forbid that Ray Lewis has 46 assisted tackles.

God forbid if Ray Lewis as a Linebacker has no interceptions.

So... you're telling me if Ray Lewis wasn't on the cover, he would've gotten a lot more tackles and a lot more interceptions? lol.gif

That's a great way of putting it. *high five*

Ask yourself this guys, if these people weren't on the cover, they wouldn't have been injured?

If it doesn't get you completely the first year, it gets you real hard in the next one.

Mafia Drive Gunner

Yeah, but the whole thought of the Madden curse is what bugs people. People say the McNabb was having a good season before he got injured, and he wasn't. TO was criticizing, his team was losing, and they were an unbalanced team.

The curse works though because most of the time something happens to the player. But to blame it on Madden is a problem. When a player uses it as an excuse, then I will explode.

"Shaun Alexander, you broke record for most TD's last season, you've hardly ran for 1,000 yards and only have 6 TD's, what happened this year man?"

"Well, isn't it obvious? I blame the Madden curse for doing this to me."

Well maybe NBA Live 06 will start a different trend. Dwayne Wade was on the front and he won the championship so maybe its good luck to be on the cover of NBA Live?

Yeah, but Shaun Alexander doesn't have a 7 foot 300 pound player to support him. tounge.gif

Shaun Alexander is a good player, but we must remember, they did lose one of the best offensive linemen in the game, I'd watch out. I know for sure, I am not going to pick Alexander for my FF Team. Speaking of FF, if ya'll had the 1st pick, who would you pick?

No brainer to me.

Ladanian Tomlinson. He is the most exciting football player to watch at the RB postion since Barry Sanders, and I think we can all agree. He is one the road to smashing the rushing record, and probably most TD's. He is a TD machine.

Larry Johnson. What he did last year not even playing a full season... amazing. I can't wait to see him play this year. I'm expecting 20+ touchdowns.

If it wasn't injuries that kept Terrell Davis from playing the game, he would be the best RB since, well, nobody would've been close to him. TD even has the most Playoff Rushing Records. No HoF didn't have more Touchdowns in their first four season than Terrell Davis had of 56. NFL is not injured prone so it has its ends.

Any way, I would either pick Peyton or LT

I found it funny that his downfall was after John Elway retired. sigh.gif

'm predicting a 1750 rush yard and 24 touch down season from Larry Johnson. He was pretty close to that mark last season and that was without playing a full season, so just think of what he can do running behind that Chiefs O-Line for a full 16 games. He's going to be the next Priest Holmes, in his prime of course.
