I'm still thinking of what would have happened if Ben wasn't there to stop harper, I can't imagine what would have happened if Sanders or Jefferson got the fumble.~TK

Or if Vanderjagt made the field goal... Either way, if Harper would have cut to his right sooner he wold have been gone...

That was a great stop by Roethlesberger(sp?) though. If he hadn't had grabbed Harpers leg, the Steelers would have lost that game.

I was happy Ben did that(and MV miss the FG) until we(Broncos) had to play them and lose at home..

I was also rooting for the broncos in that game. I wanted the Colts to beat the Steelers, so the fact that they beat them sucked. I like the Broncos, though.

The Broncos blitzed way to much in that game. The Steelers talented Recievers tore up the Denver Secondary. The Bronocos have done nothing this offseason but release Mike Anderson which I think is a huge mistake. Hopefully Denver tries to get LaVar Arrington.

Harper actually had nowhere to go. When watching the game, you were thinking "touchdown". But when you see the replay, he was surrounded by Steelers.

So if teams ran the least amount of plays on them, wouldn't that mean they stopped them half/most of the time? Let's just say that Arizona has a medicore defense. They can play really good when they want, or they can just really suck balls.

No, they also had the most offensive plays ran, and were sixth in time of possession. If the defense was any good, they would have allowed less than 24.2 points a game. The good defenses will allowed atleast a touchdown less than their offense scores, this defense allowed five more points.

Roethlisberger is 6'5", Harper is 5'9-10". It's just not possible, and like I said, he was actually pretty blanketed by Steelers' players.

Yeah, but had 5 or so Colts around him...

Yeah If he would have slowed down just a little bit he may have had blockers in front of him and maybe could have scored.

If he slowed down, he would've been tackle, if he ran in either direction away from Big Ben, he'd been tackled. Either way, it was impossible for him to get a touchdown. Impossible.

Maybe not a touchdown. A few extra yards could have happened. Not that they would have changed anything. It all came down to MikeV's kick. Nothing could have prevented a Steelers W but MikeV not f*cking up.

When I was watching this game, I almost crapped myself when he missed the kick. Like a year ago he made every field goal he tried. He's also a pro bowler but, I didn't expect Vanderjagy to miss the kick that bad. Then they released him. The Colts are stupid for releasing him. If your going to release someone because of that game release Peyton Manning.

You mean the guy that put them into position to tie that game? The only guy that did his job right? The offensive line didn't protect, the defense didn't stop the run, the recievers didn't run the right route... and you blame Manning! Vanderjagt lost that game, he was released because he's the most accurate kicker in NFL history, but the least clutch. This isn't the first time he's missed a clutch kick. It's like the third or fourth in the playoffs alone... even in the greatest comback in Colts history, Vanderjagt needed a second try to make the kick. He got a do-over because a penalty was called for a rarely called penalty. The guy isn't clutch, and he has a big mouth. Not Colts material. Vinatieri has a accuracy percentage just under 82 in an outdoor stadium in the worst weather conditions. He's made some of the most clutch and famous kicks in NFL history, and in a climate-controled dome, that should be even easier for him.

I remember Peyton Manning after that game. In the press confrence he started blaming the line and saying other stuff about his team. Thats the only time I've ever seen Peyton Manning blame others for the loss. You know he was very frustrated.

Actually, he said "Protection" which also includes himself, since he's supposed to call out the protection. The offensive line collectively agreed with him that they sucked.

ROFL, colts fans always find a excuse. If Harper didn't cut, he could've ran all the way to the touchdown, or at least have gotten close.

Yup, the most accurate kicker in the NFL's history missed the most important kick of his life.

Vanderjagt is one of the best in my opinion. Who is the kicker for the Colts now. I bet hes nowhere near as good as Vanderjagt.

Adam Vinatieri. He's won 3 rings, 2 of them because of him.

Vineteri is the Colts kicker now? Thats crazy.

Well, if he got to the SuperBowl and made the game winning kick then that'd be the most important kick in his life, but that wasn't the case. smile.gif

Mafia Drive Gunner
Adam Vinatieri. He's won 3 rings, 2 of them because of him.

Actually, all three were because of him. Everytime, his kick has made the difference, and his boot has scored the last points in all of the 3 Superbowl's he has played in. First, the Rams when he kicked it just before the 0:00, and then when he got a kick through with 0:08 left against Carolina and then with about 1:00 in the Philly game.

No one seems to remember why the Pats won the Carolina game. John Kasay f*cked that kickoff up real bad, I will never forget that kick. It was the kick that changed the game, not Vinatieri's.

@ D Jones: Exactly. He didn't make the superbowl, so the AFC Game was the most important kick of his life, not the potential most important kick. -MDG

So let me get this straght Adam Viniteri is playing for the Colts now? Why would you even let someone like him go?

Because the Patriots love to play with no-name players.

Vanderjagt misses a lot of clutch kicks. He's money when it doesn't count, just look at his 46-yarder on Letterman (the same distance he had versus the Steelers, except it was indoors in the game). That might have been the nail in the coffin, he proved on national television that he can't make the clutch kick. The only reason that kickers are paid is to finish the game.

And yes, the reason the Patriots released Vinatieri is because they don't like paying players top dollars. And the reason the Colts signed him was the reason I just explained.
