One question I want to ask anyone who plays the game is if in the Gangs stats, where it lists your least favorite gang, any other gang than the three original gangs you can fight are listed, such as Triads, Aztecas, etc. This would be interesting, as I am beginning to think it is possible that the other gangs are not only unavailible for ranking by territories, but also unable to be listed in your stats at all. I could spend all my time trying to kill one gang but I have no idea what would happen. Somebody should try, maybe this is another way a gang could be unlocked in the territories system?

When I was hunting spray tags right after doing the mission that introduced the tag spraying, the Aztecas seemed to be the most persistant in spawning between me and the tag I wanted to spray, so I killed them. For a while, my least favorite gang was listed as being the Aztecas (I think it said 'Los Varios Aztecas').

Still only on page 15. I'll try to save the rest of my replies until I'm finished reading, but I feared I'd forget this one.

EDIT (added):

Whoa, I just noticed something. I just got busted, and didn't lose my weapons. I've yet to unlock San Fierro (Doberman is the last mission I've completed). That's odd. Perhaps this could be related to the one person saying that he can't get new girlfriends after making this glitch happen...maybe the game thinks I'm already dating the cop (Barbara was the name, if I remember correctly).

Unless it had something to do with me creating the new game after the old game was loaded (which had Barbara as a girlfriend). I remember how in GTA3, if you loaded up a game and then started a new one from the menus, sometimes you would start with the weapons from the old game (unless I'm mistaken, it's been quite a while).

(and more):

Well, I still lose my weapons when I die, so I'm guessing (for now) that the effects of dating Barbara carried over into my new game. I'll test it out by loading my completed game and then starting a new one from the menu and do something to get busted after grabbing a couple weapons. If this is the case, I should go back to my first game and start dating the nurse/medic lady and then restart my second game so I can keep my weapons after death too.. wink.gif

I'm at %100 percent and noticed some people saying that this (glitch?) just speeds things up! It does nothing of the sort. There is only 1 territory that pops up on it's own outside of Los Santos... The Bayside Marina/Boat School LS Vagos territory. I had 128 hours in and 100%, all the GF's 100% and all the unique jumps. I was missing only 1 territory, the Bayside Vagos territory. I was able to make this (glitch?) work before I won the last territory, but not after I had 100% of the territories. I'm hesitant to call this a glitch since they obviously wrote in the extra territory boundaries. I'm wondering if the extra territories aren't something that they took out, like the skateboard. Maybe something glitchy about them (some people said a few territories popped up in SF). I've never seen more than the normal 90 territories until this (glitch?). I hope that another way is found to get extra territories, because I had to do this about 20 times before it worked a second time, and then I only got 1 extra territory suicidal.gif

I am at only 85 percent complete, and I had the same thing happen to me. I flew into the southeast cornner of the map, for about 15-20 min, jumped out and drowned my self. and when I came out of the hospital in LS, I looked at the map and I had territory to take over in SF. There were ballers and yellow/gang members there. I have since taken over a few of those territories & now grove street gangsters roam SF.But I have not seen any different colours yet or any thing new in LV,& countryside! In this new territory the gang wars are shorter, killing 4 still starts the war but only 1 wave & then its yours?

YAY! It worked for me. Ten minutes flying SE in thre Hydra and I was able to take over four new territories in San Fierro.

I read quite a lot of this topic but got...err...bored... blush.gif ...so someone might have mentioned this, but I'll take a stab at it anyway.

Remember the odd Bayside Marina territory that appears when you return to Los Santos? Well, before that in LV you had to fly a plane way out to sea to get to Liberty City. Could that have been why the Bayside Marina Vagos territory appears, much like all these new one are?

Once again, I apologise if someone else has already mentioned this.

Original 90?

...

First off, the first time you get gang territories up, there are 53.

When you get them back (after losing them), the Marina is added, making 54.

There are originally 54 territories.

And when I say "speeding up," I don't mean speed up the game time. I'm talking about speeding up the process of the territories being added (as this glitch doesn't add them all at the same time, if you read all the posts). And other players have reported territories in San Fierro showing up well after they were finished with most everything else. And it was something they almost immediately noticed, not something that had been there the whole time.

I had to do this about 20 times before it worked a second time, and then I only got 1 extra territory

wtf, did you not read any of the posts at all gambet?

people have many times themselves recommended at lest 20-30 mins of doing this, and that spawns more then one, i got i think just over 8 when i did it for 30 mins. Myself as i have seen so far in this thread, have the most terr. to be taken over ( 178 ) and i recommend at least 3-4 hours for a nice sized amount of terr. Also i would like to add a i guess thing ive noticed that kinda points out its a glitch, when u open the map sometimes, it has L shapes on the top left hand side, a quarter of the map, and im sure others have also noticed this. AND not that in a past post, we pointed out that yes, these terr. were intended to be in the game, by the map in the guide, but probably wasnt supposed to stay, we will all find out the truth behind this when rahkstar2.gif returns to work.

Also, id like to add that ive come to the conclusion that no matter hard it may seem to get, all terr. can be taken over....using what i call "the bitch method"

you go to a terr. that is close to the one you want to take over, and find some ballas (or vagos) and punch one in the face and run away, but not to far, let them chase you back to the terr. you want and then kill them, this method so far hasnt let me down, just remember this GLITCH takes alot of hours that some poeple may not want to invest, so dont give up so early on it. rampage_ani.gif note: remember to use color of the name that comes up as an indicator where to kill for a war rampage_ani.gif

this topic should be pinned

This topic keeps itself pinned.

stalemate: how do I tell how many territories I have? Is it somewhere in the stats where it says "Total Territories" or something?

UPDATE: Well, doing simple algerbra, 111 (territories I own) is 68.62% (percent I own) of 162, so I guess that's how many territories I've unlocked.

I've only flown out once, so I may see if I can get a handful more by flying out again later. Mt. Chiliad doesn't look like it is any gang territory, so I may try that again.

Most of those posts are in this thread probably. Look back a few pages and you'll notice that there were like 3-4 pages of just me and stalemate.

This is something I notice. I always get tons of posts. I'm not really on my computer that much (I do play GTA:SA a lot...and do other things), but I do post often in lots of thread too.

i dont think i was the one that asked that question

and you might wanna try the glitch one more time to get that extra terr. you dont have yet

but the mount chilliad thing i THINK ive solved, i thought of it this morn, but have yet to try it.....been busy

ok, the piece of terr. that you might already have ( i do), its south foster valley, notice, this piece does in fact overlap mount chill ( or has some kind of influence in it), and members still spawn there, so i figure you can grab them outta the car and piss them off, like in "the bitch method" and let them chase you off onto the piece of mount chill that has only vagos influence

you understand? notify.gif

Yea, I understand. I'm just saying that it doesn't look like Mt. Chiliad is shaded any color on my map.

And the reason I was asking you how to find out how many territories is becuase you said exactly how many you have, so I'm assuming you know how...

The people at Rockstar probably know when they can tell us about this. Why don't you email them and ask them when they can answer our emails. Okay? Thanks.

The red is Ballas. The purple blends in with the other colors. And how come on the guide there is light gray? Also on a Zero mission there is a mission picture and the map showed it Blue in Zeros area and Garcia (in the guide).

Read the other pages.

Or...sigh...I have them memorized...

Grey = Italian Mafia

Red = Triads

Blue = Rifa

Brown = Da Nang

Purple = Ballas

Yellow = Vagos

Cyan = Aztecs

Green = OGFamilies

To find out how many territories there are, and what gangs posess them, and also how many new territories there are WHILE you are flying, you could just look a little more closely at the gang stats. It lists the place rankings of the gangs by how many territories they posess. Too bad it never tells you whether there is a 4th place.

I know this is outdated now, but upon reaching the mission where you get Sweet out of jail, my territories, including all of the brand new ones, appeared instantly as gang wars were unlocked once again. Unfortunately they are the same colors and positions as everybody elses, but it at least worked.

I have also noticed the coloring of text when you go into a new territory, and I believe that the strange colors such as red or green when entering a territory are caused by the overlapping of the background gang control (a few blocks covering whole cities, my SF and LS are Vagos, Red County Ballas, etc etc). Upon taking over the territory where Emmit and a safe house are located, I went into the safehouse and emerged to see the color of the text as now a shade of orange. Yellow Vagos background + Green Orange Grove foreground = Orange text. Still have not seen any completely green text though, so I am not completely sure.

Also, the gang spawning seems to show up in some kind of order, as I have almost no territory even in LS, and any new territory, even on the outer edges of the city and not in SF, has not visibly spawned many gang members. Maybe the order in which the territories begin to spawn gang members has something to do with CJ kicking the gangs out of their original territories so they begin to crowd the newer ones, allowing you to finally kill them there?

Sorry if any of this has been mentioned already in the 20+ pages, but I have had school so couldn't post earlier than today.

I am thinking that this entire thing was not mistakenly left in the game, but the distribution of territories to only a few gangs is the true error. The "glitch" that Ozzy discovered just forces the territories to be opened earlier, but because it isn't natural only the three initial games can control them. If this happens naturally, the correct gangs may recieve these territories. Aditionally. the emergence of new colors of the new gangs may be the gangs finally realizing that other gangs are controlling their territories even though it is their respective hood. Just as the gangs naturally swap territories in LS, this continues on but the unnatural territories are just given to the wrong gangs right in the beginning. Makes sense?

oh. that's crazy.

I have definitely seen areas with bright green writing. maybe some strange mix of all the other colours that seem to have popped up.

either that or i'm right and you're wrong.

i dunno, coz like, aren't cesar's gang a light-blue-ish colour, i know maybe it could have a bit of green but the green i was seeing was like alien.gif as green as this dude with the 3 eyes. maybe even greener. i dunno, i haven't played it for a lil while... at least 4 hours.

On my map chill is colored yellow

and i didnt understand that you were asking me, the way i got all those terr. is the nite i just let the shamal go all nite long

if i, oz, or bo havent already answered this, the name colors, is a gangs terr. persay, and the white is yours, thus the whole turf war thing, your terr. vs theres, get it? yes the whole overlapping thing also applies, but not like your stating

no....they spawn in that area in no "order", each terr. has its own spawning point for members

and im not even getting into the last thing you had up there

but there is places that have green text, usually the spot that you took over the terr. at, most names in SF and all in LS do, LV only does where the war happened

hmm yeah i know the colour you're talking about, but the colour the writing i saw was properly lime green. anyway, we could go back and forth talking about this all night, but i've gotta get up in the morning aaaaand i've forgotten why were talking about colours anyway.

i think we should stop, and let other ppl talk about anything else interesting that's happened as a result of this glitch.

personally, it seems to have changed my stats to say that i've lost $0 gambling, when i definitely remember losing $millions.

damn wheel of fortune.

i just saw what you guyz said and had to add my 2 cents, but o well...

Im more focused on the spawning points and methods people use to take over terr.

we're all in agreement that for a while the only outcome is more terr.

[if i, oz, or bo havent already answered this, the name colors, is a gangs terr. persay, and the white is yours, thus the whole turf war thing, your terr. vs theres, get it? yes the whole overlapping thing also applies, but not like your stating]

Stale, the safehouse I mentioned was the door I walked out of when the text appeared in that color. The safehouse contained pretty much in the complete middle of that territory, one which I had just taken. This means the text should have either been white, or green as many people have seen. The white seems to indicate mostly neutral or less active gang terr. But just as the territory colors on the map are mixed, it seems appropriate that the text popup would be the same color, right? This is why I think orange may be a mix of yellow and green.

[already been stated]

I am aware that this was figured out around page 10, but I had just seen a couple questions asking how you find out. I guess we could make everyone read all of the pages though.

Anyways, I knew I was being repiticious, and mentioned it. Hopefully I was at least informative to someone which was my intention. If the text changes where wars have occured (explaining why territories I had acquired in the first gang war part of the game were in purple as the Ballas had to fight the weakened, Sweet-less OGF to get this territory while I was off in the rest of SA.), the orange text is unexplainable in a territory I happen to own, especially when the text appeared in a part completely under my control. The overlap idea would make sense there, and at least indicate that the huge citysized background territories make some amount of sense.
