jkk
I'm hoping this starts a collection of good tips and suggestions. Some of these are very difficult. Maybe it'll even get stickied. First, anyone who's having trouble, this map is the bomb. If we refer to these by number it'll help a lot. Do almost all of them with an NRG-500, found on the second level or roof (or both) of the parking garage just NW of the LS arena. It's the fastest. Some could also be done with a nitrous-equipped car. You rev in place by using the R1 handbrake and the accelerator at the same time. When you let off R1, off you go. You lean forward by pushing the left analog stick slightly forward, but not all the way; all the way and you stand up on the bike. For starters: #1 (run west over concrete ramp, land on railway waiting area roof). You do have to land on the roof. There are several methods: the straightest possible run directly from the station, an angled run down the side tracks for longer distance, or the 180 method (thanks, SlimShaggy): start near the target roof and follow the tracks back to the train station. Come into the station at medium speed, cut towards the left, go straight, then do a looping turn to the right, so the 180 degree turn ends up with you at a decent speed heading down the railroad tracks. Stay on the right side of the tracks, on the flat to the right of the tracks, and halfway to the jump, lean forward on the bike. You should fly right onto the roof of the railway station. #2 (run south over bridge arch between arterial and road). You must jump into the intersection just off to the left of the jump; anything short is a failure. Speed is key, and there are trees in the way if you go back far enough straight on. Try starting back and to the right of the jump where the street next to the train tracks goes uphill (thanks, choda_doog). You could also try the 180 method (thanks, SlimShaggy): head north as far as you can in a straight line. The railroad continues to the North with a bridge that crosses a highway. Just to the right of the bridge is a narrow alley that drops off onto the highway below. Drive into the alley, do a 180, and start your run to the ramp. Hit the gas, cross Grove Street and follow the railroad tracks on the left-side skinny concrete strip between tracks and trees. After the slight left bend, it straightens; lean forward then, and you must cut left at the final moment to hit the 'ramp'. #3 (run north down divided, congested street up steps). This is one of the hardest jumps in the entire game. You have to land well onto the next building to get credit. I finally got this one by lining up left of the divider, back against the buildings, revving, leaning and avoiding any course changes or sideswipes, anything that impeded my speed. I believe that I accidentally stood up at the very end--maybe that helped. This one has been pulled off with a nitroused Comet (thanks, seawraith). #4 (run north up railroad onto pedestrian overpass ramp on west side of tracks). Be sure you have the west set of steps. Start your run far up the tracks, but make your run on the grass to their left. As you cross the road before the jump, crouch forward for a burst of speed (thanks, SlimShaggy). On this one people may come tantalizingly close many times, but they need that added bit of oomph to get a little farther. This one too has been pulled off with a nitroused Comet (thanks again, seawraith). #9 (run east down airport runway over little ramp). You must land on or past the OGL-2 sign--the front wheel of your bike must clear it on the fly, or it has also been known to register with a hard turn that causes both wheels to hit the sign sideways in midair (thanks, Quackaddict). Start your run back against the fence and line up perfectly so you need not swerve and do not brush a little post or sign. Rev and lean forward as you take off. As you pass the sign before the jump, jog right ever so slightly to line up with the ramp, so you don't lose any more speed than can be helped. Your success will be governed by how perfectly you execute the job. This one has been pulled off with a nitroused Bullet (thanks, CrackHoor). #24 (run around corner and west onto freeway over little median ramp). Oh joy, a run around a bend through freeway traffic. Try using the sidewalk for a run up and then darting across the opposing traffic lanes at the last minute (thanks, SlimShaggy). #30 (run east up stairs). Try using the left side of the stairs; seems to make a difference sometimes (thanks, SeaWraith). If you don't even trigger the cinematic, an NRG is strongly recommended (thanks, damien1220). #35 (run west from the factory SW of Blueberry way up road over dirt ramp). You don't have to land on the runway; landing on the little platform down below will suffice. Begin along the edge of the factory, lined up to hit the road going west, and here your challenge is to maintain all speed while dodging trucks and such, holding to the middle of the road and threading through. #36 (run south in SF over tiny grassy lip). Got to land on the buildings below. For this one, start on the SE corner of the intersection one block north and 1/3 of a block east, aimed toward the ramp so as to just miss the corner building. As you head downhill, don't go so fast you can't jog left when it's time to swerve into line with the ramp; you went up here only to get a start on the speed. If you don't run over someone, or encounter some other traffic problem, a good run and turn will do it. #39 (run north on catwalk along east side of bridge). Can't be done successfully until you open up LV (thanks, Foamster and Jimbob27). Before that, you'll hit an invisible wall and plummet straight down. The catwalk entry is at the base of the bridge near a big brick building, and it's a long twisty ride. The idea is to just run off into the water, like walking the plank on a motorbike. #42 (run northeast and downhill, dodging wall). It seems one must clear the buildings and reach the street below. The wall requires a slight angle left in order to hit the ramp. A downhill street leads to it, but before that street goes downhill it has one flat block. Try starting in the right lane back at the edge of the flat block, so you don't have to accelerate uphill, which gets you a slower start than from a halt on level ground. Blast forward and down, looking for your opening to weave through to the ramp. #43 (run west over typical ramp, fairly short, deep plunge to arterial below). It seems that sometimes too long a run is too much of a good thing, so if it isn't registering, try short-jumping it (thanks, choda_doog). #47 (run northeast over short ramp just SW of San Fierro Airport's runway). (Input pending) #59 (run west over wide ramp through fairly low, wide opening). This is the one on the top covered floor of the parking garage (not the roof). You must hunch well forward on the bike to avoid banging your head on the way through, but it doesn't take a very special run to get credit. It's just a long, boring ride up. jkk Edited December 28, 2004 by jkk Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/161008-unique-jump-troubles/ Share on other sites
jkk
Well, went to the trouble to grab a mountain bike and work it all the way to the #39 jump point. Tried bunnyhopping as I jumped. Nothing. I hit the invisible forcefield a few feet past the ramp, just like a captured Klingon on Star Trek, and dropped bike and all into the drink. The only side benefit of this is my lung capacity is growing by leaps and bounds. Hurray. jkk Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/161008-unique-jump-troubles/?do=findComment&comment=2206042 Share on other sites
Foamster
For #1 do you have to land on that roof thing? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/161008-unique-jump-troubles/?do=findComment&comment=2217121 Share on other sites
jkk
Yeah, and fairly far along it, as I recall. I think I came at #1 at an angle, backing up into the corner of the railway place, then straightened up when I was lined up. It took me a number of tries. jkk Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/161008-unique-jump-troubles/?do=findComment&comment=2217129 Share on other sites

quackaddict
I tried this jump. Jump # 39. I too, was baffled by the "invisible wall" that I came colliding into. I still haven't done a storyline mission, so I grabbed a Shamal, went to Mt Chilliad, would do a Chilliad Challenge race, get to the bottom, and grab a Sanchez to the right of the finish line. Then I'd elude capture all the way to the scaffolding. I'd get to the straightaway where we are supposed to start, and slam the throttle. Wouldn't you know it...Bam!!! Smacked the f*ck out of that invisible wall everytime. Did R* leave out a ramp??? Great idea to bunnyhop over the invisible wall, jkk. Too bad it didn't work. Have you opened up the whole map, though? Has anyone gotten this jump yet??????? Has anyone gotten this jump yet??????? I am just now reaching the point where the SF safehouses will open up. We will see if that takes the wall away. Then when I open up the area north and east of SF, someday, we'll see if it goes away. I'm hoping, somewhat against hope, that this is a side effect of the locked-off areas that will go away when that bridge is traversible. It would be very disappointing if Rockstar had included a unique jump that was completely impossible; the possibility boggles the mind, but such things have happened with so many games in my lifetime that I can't rule it out. jkk Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/161008-unique-jump-troubles/?do=findComment&comment=2219609 Share on other sites
quackaddict
We need to get someone who has LV opened up to try this jump....You know, I think that it will open up once you open up the desert. I was flying the other day, and BAM! my plane hit an invisible wall right where that bridge is. It was way back in the day when I was trying to remove all of the blue crap on the map, just doing loops everytime a missle was fired at me. So, I know that the same invisible wall kept me from flying over it to some degree, so I patiently wait for someone...PLEASE SOMEONE...to try jump number 39 with LV opened to see if they smack the living f*ck out of this invisible wall like the rest of us. jkk
I've been practically on my knees making a spectacle of myself over it for days now, with no luck. Apparently us unique-jump enthusiasts are fewer in number than I'd imagined, but time moves fast in the world of a new game. Surely soon someone--maybe one of us--will try it after getting access to the desert. If your suspicion holds true, quackaddict, in about two weeks we will be flooded with noobosity threads: "HOW DO U DO THIS F*ING CATWALK JUMP LOL I HIT SOMETHING IN MID AIR LOL I AM SO MAD LOL I WANT TO THROW MY CONTROLER AT THE SCREEN LOL PLZ HELP ME R8 NOW LOL I CANT TYPE A SENTENCE WITHOUT SAYING LOL LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" When they come, let's swear a pact to be merciful, and not tell them: "This is Rockstar's copy protection scheme. It has detected a bootleg copy and is punishing you. Even now it's reporting you to the VGGSP (Video Game Geheime Staatspolizei), who will sue you for a million dollars but settle out of court for a few grand and some self-abasement on your part. Should have just paid the $50! Have fun!" I for one will swear on the most precious thing I have in the game: Mr. Kalashnikov. jkk Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/161008-unique-jump-troubles/?do=findComment&comment=2219694 Share on other sites

jkk
Well, at least that one's dealt with. I'm tempted to just make ongoing edits to the first post as people provide info (with credits, naturally). The only reason I'm not sure is that I don't know if anyone would really care, given the low overall level of forum interest in unique jumps seen thus far. SF has some sick jumps, I'll say. I love the kind where you plummet a long ways, the more air the better. On vigilante, there was nothing quite so satisfying as making a good judgment call to jump into a gorge and seeing your police bike land squarely with a thunk right behind the bad guys. It's like brown underwear time for them. jkk Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/161008-unique-jump-troubles/?do=findComment&comment=2222528 Share on other sites
quackaddict
Yo, jkk....thx for yer help at the airport. I tried using the 900 {I haven't done a storyline, yet they're cruising the beach are right now(!)} and that didn't work out, so I got that 500 where u said to get it. I thought I f*cked up on the jump, so I did a 360 + a 90 degree turn to the side, and both my front and rear tires hit the sign right at the bottom, with my bike parallel with the sign. The game said, "chirp...Unique Stunt Completed." I couldn't f*cking believe it! It actually took about 5 seconds of me sitting jaw dropped for it to register.... Thx! My next one that I need help with is the one below that one. The one in the middle of the highway heading west. Where am I supposed to land? I tried clearing the fence on the left side, and I tried landing on both sides of the highway...where am I supposed to land? (With the f*cking congestion raping me 90% of the time....rrr.) (With the f*cking congestion raping me 90% of the time....rrr.) Good job on the airport one. I think we have yet to learn all the ways that one can register. The one below...you mean #24? As I recall, I had to thread that nasty traffic needle with a long run, then get significant air. It didn't take that many times, and I'm pretty sure I landed in the road ahead. In fact, I probably landed in front of a big semi and got pulped, as I so often did on these. Maybe see if you can straighten it at the last moment and land dead in the middle. jkk Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/161008-unique-jump-troubles/?do=findComment&comment=2224477 Share on other sites
quackaddict
k...thx! jkk
Any time. When you get it, if you'll let us know how you did it I'll keep editing the opening post. choda_doog
My friend and I have been stuck on # 43 in San Fierro for a LONG time, as a matter of fact that is the only jump we have left to get. We have had LV open for a while now and have completed many of the missions. We tried to get as much riding room as possible, leaning over and our farthest jump was 409 ft at this jump. This was not successful, I don't know what we are doing wrong on this, anyone help please. Is there a certain spot to land or a certain distance, anyone with any idea please let me know. jkk
Foamster, I had that problem in GTA3 and it about drove me wack. I feel for you. Choda: it sounds like you know what you're doing jumpwise, so I assume you started your run blocks back? Somehow I seem to recall a jump in SF where you went up and down a hill during the run. Is this that one? If so, I remember deciding screw it, I'll start at the top of the first hill, and getting the jump. If I can, tonight I'll get over to SF in game and reproduce it. jkk Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/161008-unique-jump-troubles/?do=findComment&comment=2226056 Share on other sites
jkk
Okay, I tried #43 and I don't recall having a problem or that I needed to do anything funky, if that helps. It wasn't the one I thought it was. As I recall, I just got a good run, landed cleanly (awe-inspiring descent) and it rang up and I went on to the next one. When you get it, if you'll post what was different here, I'll add it to the introductory post. jkk Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/161008-unique-jump-troubles/?do=findComment&comment=2226341 Share on other sites
choda_doog
there is not any running room, only one block, otherwise u can come from around the corner, but that just seems to make me lose speed and it's hard to get straight to lean forward. I have tried over and over with no success. It is the jump that makes u jump out onto the interstate right near katie's house. Can u tell me if you have gotten that one, anyone at all. All I have left is a few races and a few missions so I would really like to know so I can get it done. Thanks for your response, looking forward to another! jkk
I've gotten all in SF but the catwalk invisible wall jump, so I've got this one, but now I'm confused which one you're thinking of. #43, right? Run west, from one long block back; when you're in position, you're right near a north-south two-way concrete ramp that has no bearing except as a landmark? I went and did it twice. Of course, that doesn't tell me if I would have got credit again, but I got major air and came down on an arterial below. All I recall is that I didn't do anything fancy and did get credit. Please don't take offense, but is it possible you missed the credit (as I have done in all three games in the genre now and then)? Quackaddict, have you tried this one? Any insight? jkk Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/161008-unique-jump-troubles/?do=findComment&comment=2227179 Share on other sites
dt_rome
Hi, I'm new here, and I'm very thankful for something like this. I'm having a hell of a time with #2 and 4. Everything else in Los Santos and Badlands has been sweet peaches (?), but I just can't get those. If someone could tell me where to start when approaching these jumps, that'd probably help. Also, where I need to land would probably help a lot too. I don't think I'm hitting #2 (bridge arch near Ganton) straight on - any suggestions about that? I can hit them both with enough speed to trigger the unique slo-mo cam, but obviously am not doing something right to register the unique jump. Thanks in advance. jkk
#2: This one I don't remember details of, though I do remember having a hard time hitting it dead on. There can be a lot of pedestrians in that area. If I recall right, speed wasn't as crucial so it was okay to shuck and jive a little on the way up to get aligned, but next time I'm in LS I'll go swipe an NRG and try it again, and see if that triggers any memories. #4: I remember having somewhat of a time with this one. I learned that conserving speed was the most important factor, more so than a longer run. All those times when you've flown a very long way and can't see why it didn't register, you were probably thaaaat close. Try to make the straightest possible run with no course corrections for a perfect hit of the ramp, if you can, rather than going way back around the bend. You have plenty of railway and time to hunch down once you're sure of your aim. If you can't see the stair/ramp from where you begin your run, aim based on a landmark near it that you can see (pole, maybe). Hope this is a little help. Glad you found this thread--I had so much trouble finding anyone who cared about the jumps that I had to kickstart some discussion. If you'll post back with your results, we can add them to the beginning post if you learn anything that helps you. jkk Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/161008-unique-jump-troubles/?do=findComment&comment=2235498 Share on other sites
