I already had problems with Bradygames before the GTA:SA book.

I purchased the guide for Resident Evil:Outbreak, an online survival horror game, because there are Special Item collections in this game as well. Not only were many of the descriptions off, there were DELIBERATE errors put in by the author.

Dan Birlew, the author, stated publicly that he put small errors so that he could tell if someone ripped of his guide to publish their own. However, he also put in a few errors as a practical joke. One of the items is listed as being behind the door of a room that is on fire. When the player opens the door, he is killed by the backdraft explosion of this room which is INACCESSIBLE. The item is actually located elsewhere. Dan is a terrible RE:O player, btw.

As for the GTA:SA guide, I think the pictures of all the cars and weapons are kind of neat, but for the most part the mission guides are useless. They read like a narrative for people who are unable to play the gaem and just want to read about it.

"Go talk to Joe who'll tell you you need to go back to the other location and get the..."

Jeez, I think that will be obvious from watching the cutscenes and reading the onscreen instruction. How hard would it be to find some avid GTA gamer who would be willing to shack up with a pre-release copy of the game and develop REAL strategies? I find myself reading ahead to see what to expect in a certain mission and spoiling the plot. I would rather read stuff like "the best way to beat this mission is to immediately get out of the car and shoot the enemies before they start chasing you", or "leave Woozie behind while you clear the path, then come back and lead him through" or something like that.

The link posted earlier with the guide for photo ops, etc is awesome. That guy should get the job for the next game guide.

Got to admit I'm p----d off and a bit confused. I've made it through the photo ops eventually but I've sprayed 99 tags and though I've been marking them off on the map as I went along, I've crossede all of 'em and can't see where I've missed one.

Some people here say there are only 99 shown and others say that all 100 are listed.

If you had a problem with the Brady tag map and had to find the 'missing one', where did you find it?

Can somone tell me if gang tag #6 is in Las Colinas (where it is on the map in the guide) or in East Los Santos (as it says in the pic of the tag in the guide). This one has stumped me..

Not sure why my quoting is always off... but...

Can somone tell me if gang tag #6 is in las colinas (where it is on the map in the guide) or in east los santos (as it says in the pic of the tag in the guide)

IIRC, gang tag #6 was located on the brown steps like they said. The brown steps being the stairs leading from the street below #6 to the houses up above. The tag itself should be street-level on the side of the stairs. You may have confused #6 for #14, as the #6 should be dead center on where #14 is located graphically and iirc #14 blank billboard one was in a slightly different spot. Hope that helps.

Also.. there was someone asking about last tags. I came across all 100 tags, but my last one... which i had correctly identified as not having gotten yet.. was #12. The problem with it was that the graphic clearly indicates its in the middle of the S shaped curve. In reality, it should move a little down and left and is just off of the big thick road.

One last thing... I did notice... especially on the Horseshoes that some people didn't understand the methodology the guide used. I was one. The Starfish Casino really messed me up a lot, with horseshoes not being near it. Then I realized... when you see the black text on the left... it isn't saying its AT the Starfish Casino, what its saying is its in the Starfish Casino zone. Go to the map, go close up, and move your cursor. As it moves, the zone you are in will change and the zone encompasses more than just the actual casino. This is also the same with something like #43... its in the Come-A-Lot zone... and then 'Slightly hidden from view in the little alcove'. Whether that description specifically matches i don't know.. just showing they don't mean the physical hotel itself.. just the area identified as 'Come-A-Lot' and that it'll be somewhere in that area.

Oh.. and if all else fails grab a f*cking magnifying glass and on the page with the horseshoe snapshots, go to the one you are looking for and make your map look like the one in the lower left of the snapshot. You can pretty much see north in the picture and then try to match the streets and where your cursor is. I found quite a few of the ones where pictures didn't match up because while the topography may have changed(i.e. airport #28).. the horseshoe was still in the same physical map spot.

I tried to use my friend's at his place for horseshoes. We were like, "WTF IS THIS BULLsh*t??" Where's the one at the airport?! Anyways, I'm glad I didn't buy this. I'll borrow it off him for the 'correct' info, and find the rest online... God... You'd think a huge game like this, they'd double check. What moron was reponsible for this!?

Does anyone know if ti's possible to have a tag that appears to be sprayed over but hasn't registered on the game? i.e. all tags appear to be done but stats still say 99%.

Im having a F*ck of a time finding those damn horse shoes.

Is there suppose to be one under the control tower at the LV airport?

And also, there's supposedly one in a parking garage at the Emerald Isle, but I couldn't find that either, after I checked twice. This is BS, those damn Brady bastards.

Rock* needs to make their own damn strategy guides for the games.

HI IM NEW! I bought the guide for that exact reason, because I know I would be able to do the missions without it. Without the collectibles its basically useless to me. Also there is something wierd going on with my game. On photo op 15 (in the books pics- its the one with the gas tanks) no camera thing appears. Its the only one I need and I have tried everything, does anybody else have this problem or know how to fix it? suicidal.gif

Thanx but I have already tried that. The purple icon just does not appear- at all. I think I might start again and do the collectibles as soon as I can. it just p**ses me off so much.

This is the last Brady Guide I get. They screwed up a tag, two 79's, and one of them 30 meters away from normal. The oysters were pretty accurate, along with MOST of the tags, but there comes the worse part: In "Ran Fa Li" they say you drive a Sabre. Wrong. You drive the POS Manana. Another one: NGR-500. It's the NRG-500. Their lack of help during the race missions piss me off. The Photo Ops: what the hell? They got the WHOLE thing jumbled. Horseshoes aren't that hot either...

Not good, Brady Games...and it's a final copy? notify.giframpage_ani.gif

EDIT: The guide has some typographical errors too, such as the one I pointed out above.

on that .hembrand website it does have pretty good maps. i haven't tried the horshoes or phot ops yet... but the .hembrand website maps should help. but i am havnig troubles finding 2 oysters... # 19 and 29... i've stopped at this much because i just can't seem to find these 2 oysters in the water. that .hembrand website has the map i was following... if anyone else had troubles with these 2 oysters, let me know how you got by finding them... it shows pics on the site but when i go there, i still can't find em. 1 of em is in the southwest side of san andreas near a bridge and the other one is northeast of san fierro a litle bit near a small boat... i can't find em... i did print out another map someone made... pdf form... these 2 oyster locations are in the same place as the .hembrand map.... haven't checked it again... just wondering if anyone else had problems with oysters.... geez. if i'm having issues with oysters... i'll probably really struggle with the tags and horshoes.

devil.gif I posted these elsewhere but I hope they help as far as having a somewhat better description of where the missing horseshoes are.

Other Glaring Horseshoe Oversites

*#3- Emerald Isle, Frogs Pawn Shop- There is no "Frog's Pawn shop" the horseshoe is on the red-roof of a one story building to the right of the gym.

*#15- Las Ventura Airport, underneath a staircase in the back of the airport. There is no staircase, the map places it correctly but it is simply next to an airport wall.

*#24- Starfish Casino- On top of the roof.- Ok this was just confusing, as the horseshoe is not actually on or near the Starfish Casino it is (east) across the street on top of a Cluckin Bell.

*#25- Las Venturas Airport, on top of the roof.- No! Much like #28 it sits on the runway where the map places it, there is no building or roof.

*26- The Camels Toe, on top of the pyramid. - Ack! #2 is on top of the pyramid!! This one is on the big raised awning that surrounds the pyramid! (Land a Helicopter on the Sphinxs head and walk around if you dont have the rocket pack).

*28- Las Venturas Airport, hidden from view by some bushes and other objects.- Third times a charm. There are no bushes, there are no other objects, it simply sits on the north-western part of the runway, just left of the floating Armor.

*39- Starfish Casino, on a ledge. -Once again very confusing, Once again not on or near the Casino rather it is (east) on an interior ledge above an enclosed clothing store parking lot.(I believe it was Zip).

*41- Emerald Isle, hidden inside a small garage complex. Not so much an oversight as a crappy description, being that there is a multi-storied (Emerald Isle) car park you will more likely search (for hours) before you realise it is (west) across the street, in a nook beside the carwash thingy.

*42- Emerald Isle, In the southwest corner outside of the carpark next to a fenced in stairway.- Placed correctly, but there is no fenced in stairway, it is south between the gym and "Froggys Pawn shop".

*43- Come-A-Lot, slightly hidden from view in the little alcove. WTF! The picture shows Carl standing next to an alcove across from the Starfish Casino! It is on one of the small fenced in porches, in between the buidings east of Come-A-Lot. There are stairs leading up to the roof, jump down to it.

*46- Old Venturas Strip, inside the "O" of Hotel.- It is in front of the "O" in CASINO, thank you very much!

*49-Whitewood Estates, in the back garden on this house on the edge of town. # 49 is in front of the long commercial building just south of the house on the edge of town. The building has a ramp placed on its north and south ends and is indeed on the edge of town just kind of floating in the air in front of that one story commercial builing with the ramps behind it.

All of the Photo Ops were backwards Ex. The ones in the guide on the right side of the map are really on the left and the ones on the left are really on the right.

While on the brady game guide subject, who knows where oyster #25 realy is? I have suffered through the other misprints with the tags and oysters, but #25 has become my white whale.

Edit: Never mind, I'm stupid. The oyster was right in front of my face. This always happens with the last one I look for.

Why does everyone say a tag is missing? Count them there ARE 100 tag locations. If you read the numbers however there are TWO 79's.

Does anyone know where this missing tag is? as I can't find it, I've got 99/100 and checked all of them twice in the Brady guide. I've got all the oysters and snapshots, apart from the one in Foster Valley - I guess I need a plane for that one. I started the horseshoes and soon gave up as like you all say the guide is crap. - any tips on getting the horseshoe in the big casino sign? I tried jumping on cars and stuff but that didn't work.

Also, according to the guide the Tahoma, is modded @ Transfenders.

I've tried takin the car there & the door never opened. notify.gif

So I tried Loco Low Co. and that is where it is supposed to be modded @, eve though all you can do is change color, wheels, add NOS, Bass Boost and Hydrolics.

Which is pathetic, you should be able to do more to the car don't you think?

The guide is kinda useful. I just wont use it for locations. Whats also srewed up about it is the inclusion of the infamous andromada and the fbi truck. Im tired of all these people asking "Where is the fbi truck? It's in the book so you must be able to get it without cheats."

I think you are refering to tag #80, It's not that it's missing, but I could not find 80 on the map. I used the pictures that go with the map, I actualy had to go by the map in the picture to locate the tag.

Hope this helps

They also listed a "Lowrider Bike" which is not found in the game at all. They also listed "They Crawled From Uranus" as "They Came From Uranus." And mission listings are sometimes inaccurate as well.

With regard to the horseshoe situation, i have found that several are not even in the location they show in the guide. Not just on the map, but it will have a picture of them, wgere you will clearly see the damn thing but then when you get there it is nowhere to be found. I was comparing the radar map in the screen shot and what could be seen in the screen, and it wasn't even the same thing. It showed a house at the one place when there was a strip mall there. I still need two, the one that says it is in southwest Whitewood Estates and the other says it is on Come-A-Lot Casino when the picture clearly shows the horseshoe is on Clowns Pocket. My theory is that they made the guide before the game was even finished and Rockstar changed some of the location.
