Yeah, I found leaning flat kept up some speed. That is very useful for the 'Stowaway' mission when you're trying to catch the plane - it's very fast!

I did find it the hardest, though; I don't often pull of Stoppies in such a strict manner wow.gif I normally just do them how I like, and just travel a few metres on the roads, not through cones notify.gif But I may try it again some time...I may have got a Silver on it, can't remember. Gah, the relief when I passed it, though. smile.gif

My problem is the Cone Coil. Don't laugh, I'm always one or two seconds off....and it's really frustrating. I'm not going for gold, just bronze so I can go on. Any more suggestions?

If you mean with the stoppie, you don't have to lose much speed or you are not going to do it to the cones.

At the final moment before the first cones, hold forward and gently press the brake, just for a moment, and release it. If you keep on leaning forward, CJ will stand even if you are not holding brake anymore. And you should not do it.

As soon as the cones are cleared, the bike starts to go crazy with almost no speed. Press the gas urgently, if not, you will stop and never reach the final cones.

When you press the gas, the bike is going a little crazy, but don't panic, you have largely the time to control it and ride it to the cones and if you stop parallel to them, you get the gold but if you are just looking for the bronze it's very easy at this point.

I don't get it, all of the flight school ones were easy but the circle airstrip and land. I thought the destroy all targets was one of the easist, I beat it on my second try. It's just those circle, and circle and land that got me, but now I got the hunter...

to loose

Lose, not loose. And Schmoo is talking about the 6th driving school test, not the stoppie.

Schmoo, when you're weaving through the cones, try starting the turn earlier. By the time your car is heading in the other direction, you'll have just passed the set of cones, setting yourself up for an easy turn on the next set.

Nice run. I'm going to try to beat it. cool.gif

Btw, I'm guessing you capture from the TV screen since I can see the scan lines, but I wonder what kind of camcorder you use? The quality is pretty good!

This is my first ever post.

These forums R00L.

This is an excellent guide for the driving school, very very helpful especially on the P.I.T. test... which by the way I got gold on WITHOUT being in contact with the other car at the end of the run. tounge2.gif

HAHA Just got GOLD on the 'barrel roll' on my third go!

....an excellent guide indeed!

You know, Jack, somehow this morning before I'd even finished my coffee I pulled off 99%, and what seemed most different was that I had less need to correct my direction after the turns.  Normally after the turn, I have to very quickly decide whether I'm actually lined up and make quick adjustments or I'm going to doze some traffic cones.  Half the time, I do have to make those adjustments.  I've been doing the whole race with the hammer down, which contributes to this.

So what you are proposing is keep flooring it into the turn, but let off before the end, then make sure you're aligned before you floor it again? This all happens very fast, of course, so the actual lift of the accelerator is just a quick thing, much like the way you took your foot off the gas as you went over the spikes in the earlier mission to avoid losing control of the squad car.  I'll give this a try.  This mission comes down to conservation of speed in turning.

jkk

This is cool stuff and the best tips ever, but it would be better if I knew what "floor it." blush.gif So what does "floor it" mean.

To floor it means to slam on the accelerator.

Wow, that is one unique way of expression. "Where da hell..." then you follow up with "plz". You sound like a polite gangster or something. I'm not flaming you, it's just amusing. biggrin.gif

yes! I got gold on the driving school!

Burn and Lap was my main problem. but it was okay with that trick, starting the test, pause the game, quit pause and immediatly pressing X and winning one or two seconds with that smile.gif not really fair but I hate that test. the others were easy. even city slicking was easy. time was no problem at all, first time I tried to go for gold I got a 100% time rating. offcourse damage is the problem in that test, but not that annoying though. I just used a simple route.

HiImTimAndImAnAddict
On the Destroy Targets, I get a 98% even though i am at 89 seconds and my position score is 100% and 0% damage. I even lined up perfectly with the airstrip.

Any thoughts?

You have to be at 60 seconds or under for 100%, if I'm not mistaken.

Tips: Use the first-person view and fly forward...just when the trucks are in sight, line it up with the center of your screen, and blast the crap out of em with the missles. Do all three in one pass. A second pass may put you over 60s. Once all three trucks are done (hopefully in the first try, immediately whip around behinds you and take out the two trucks in the field. Use the guns ONLY, since they can directly target moving vehicles. Hopefully you can take out both in one pass.

Simon.

You can win more than two seconds using that glitch, on City Slicking press Start, then press Triangle, then X, press start a millisecond after and keep repeating the process, I got all the way down the main street without the timer starting.

This also works until the first corner on Burn & Lap, then you will lose control, I done Burn and Lap first try with this glitch.

I now have all the School Golds wink.gif

Good Luck people

Yep that glitch is class got me a Hotknife with it rah.gif . Used it on that damn Burn&Lap. I actually didn't find City Slicking too hard when I was going through the game again because I knew the easiest route. I got a gold on the first go which was quite surprising.

I recommend pinnage.

Someone(s) should also poll for a "top ten hardest school tests."

Burn and Lap or Jump and Stoppie? decisions, decisions...

Burn and Lap, City Slicking, Circle Airstrip, and Circle and Land are all harder for me than Jump and Stoppie was. Maybe I got lucky, but I got gold on Jump and Stoppie on my third attempt, and had gold in all of the Motorcycle lessons in well under 20 minutes.

Right now, the idea of me ever getting gold in the two Flight School lessons mentioned is completely beyond me. The touchiness of the banking controls is completely inappropriate for a PS2 controller's tiny analog sticks. It'd be another story if GTA:SA had drivers included to support the Saitek X45 USB flight stick (or any flight stick, but if I'm going to mention one at all, I'm going to mention the best one available in the <$100 price range).

Without question, boat school needs no guides! haha

Very easy, however, the last driving school mission wasn't necessarily the hardest, it requires some luck as well. I came back along the coastal road, under the bridges, and then up the road prior to the airport leading to the school, this allows enough time, but perhaps more traffic problems. Night and day make a difference. I found backing up and then going forward not as easy as described, but the circle track (burn and lap) for Car School was very maddening. For me, getting a pattern on the controller ( keeping turns and straightways consistant) and some lean on the view (analog stick) helped me pass it. Same for circle runway and land. That is not a tough one either if you know you can fly w/o using X once you have the level you want. When you bank, you need to apply it but you can also slow the plane with the brake.

I would never expect getting the highest level on all these tests, but the heli rules (height when landing as mentioned above) may factor in the same way not forgetting landing gear does during the tests

I didn't have too much trouble getting the targets, but time was the key to passing. They blow up pretty easy even under gun fire.

I've only yet to finish bike school so I'll be testing some of these suggestions too

Bill

City slicking wasn't hard at all

just go straight from the start, heading to the checkpoint. just drive one the middle of the road. when you get at the three white big buildings, with the big brown pavement around it, that should be on your right. cross the brown pavemant (diagonal or something, don't know the right word) so you still end up heading for the right direction but now you already one block more to the right.

then just keep on heading straight and full throttle for the checkpoint, and you should get on the road which will go down with two corners and end with the checkpoint. when you go downhill there, take it easy in the corners so you don't lose control. then when you get down there make sure you get thru the checpoint and make a wide U-turn, wide because it will keep the speed and won't make you lose control. and then offcourse exactly the same way back, full throttle again.

you might wan't to use the glitch described above to save another 2 seconds.

cool.gif what i did in city slicking was go to the checkpoint and then go back the other way. but dont stop when ya doing it just turn slowly and go back up the hill. trust me the first bit to the checkpoint is like 10 second shorter than the seocnd bit.
