[REL] '70 Challenger T/A and General Lee

Recommended Posts

silver007

Well SURPRISE!!

after Neo Finaly finished up the handling lines, its time to put down those PS2 Controllers, and come back to Vice City, but just for a little while

because im lazy, im just gonna copy and paste what i said in the WIP topic,

These 2 Vehilces, unlike my other conversions have been requested by MANY people for me to do, ive started them a month or so ago, but never got around to finishing them till now

Since im Releasing these 2 Cars together, i decided to make just 1 topic for both of them, instead of cultering up the fourm with 2,

now without further ado, here they are

1970 Dodge Challenger T/A

After Creating the 2F2F Challeger, Neo-K 182 and a few others suggeted to me making this car, after seeing a few pics of it, i decided to do it

The Dodge Challenger T/A is more or less a Sports version of the Challenger R/T, mainly the only differance (other than a few visual changes) is the better engine

heres some pics: (click on them to veiw them in full size)

Features

  • Completely American Muscle, No NOS or anything Ricer
  • Side Stripes and T/A logos are polys not textures
  • New hood, wheels, exhaust placement, spoiler
  • Replaces the Cuban Hermes, therefore has flames comming out of the exhaust
  • 4 Seater
  • Comes in many colors as seen below (click on them to veiw the Images)
Green

Orange

Red

Yellow

White

Pink

Purple

Brown

Notes: The images shown above are slighly outdated, theres been 2 updates since these pics, theres now mudflaps underneath the front of the car, and the "Challneger T/A" logo on the back spoiler is now Carcols, not white, and it has updated rims that sparkle is using on his FnF Charger

1969 Dodge Charger "General Lee"

"Just the good ol' boys, Never meanin' no harm, Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born." ..... ahh you know the rest

as we all know, the General Lee was a 1969 Dodge Charger from the TV show "The Dukes of Hazzard"

although the show is a more hilbilly, country show that not many people today watch, The General Lee is definatley one of the most reconizable TV series Cars

there are several reasons for doing this car

  • Got Many reqests for doing this car from other people
  • The new "Dukes of Hazzard" movie comming out
  • "The Dukes of Hazzard" TV show re-airing on a few networks
  • The new "Return of the General Lee" Video game comming out for the PS2
  • And finally, theres never been a proper conversion of this car for Vice City or GTA3
Version 1 - Wrong year, Really poor textures & model, missing decals, no custom wheels, misterious black air intake on the hood

Version 2 - Just a Skin of the Sabre Turbo

Version 3 - a Skin of Yazu's mustang mach 1

with only Version 1 the closest, it was clear to me, i need to do somthing about it

finally, pics, (click on them to veiw them in full size)

It says conversion in the topic title doesn it? If I mis-understood then srry, no harm done. smile.gif

picky picky picky...... well i still need to make the cars, i dont "convert" the parts over, the parts are put on the car, there polys, theres no converting needed, therefore what i mean by Make is Putting the car together in Zmodeler,

o and i fixed the Handeling line that Neo Sent me for the Challenger, for some reason it had the Front wheels narrow and the Rear Wheels wide Flags on, so i removed them

silver had already coverted the 2F2F challenger R/T, i asked him to make that into a T/A. so yeah it's still a conversion. but silver made all of the T/A parts on it and did a good job too.

and yeah the sig, there are 3 pictures of her, the one of her face, the one of her b00bage, and the one with the heart that says Corleone Family (that ones from The Girl Next Door)

and silver, glad you got that fixed. i'll go change it in my game. my handling file editor was all f*cked up or something when i was trying to get those to change, no matter what i did they just stayed as fat rear narrow front.

Well.... so far I've only installed the General Lee.

Initially I thought this looks pretty darn good, but as I looked closer I saw some problems that need to be addressed.

1. The wheel graphic is off center causing it look like it's wobbling if viewed from the side.

user posted image

2. Something needs to be done about the backside of the wheel/tire.

user posted image

3. Tommy needs to be repositioned. He's part way into the driver's seat.

user posted image

4. What's with the numbers on the driver's side of the car??? nervous.gif

user posted image

user posted image

It's an excellent start to one of the greatest Hollywood cars of all time, but I'd have to give it just a 6 out of 10.

EDIT:: One other thing about the handling... Why is it's weight at 3000? It's my understanding that the weight and other parameters like top speed are set in metric units. This would make the car 6,600 pounds. How about something more like 1800-2000 for the weight setting. Plus I think it's acceleration is set too high. All it does is lay rubber.

Double post I know, but this post is about the Challenger.

I installed the car. The wheels show up as white with no texture at all. Also... Should I be able to see through the side of the hood scoop?

user posted image

Something is scraping the ground when I corner. Part of this problem is the handling I think. I tried my own handling but was unable to stop the scraping.

Neo... What were you smoking when you did this handling? You have it set to 4WD? blink.gif Sorry dude... I just don't get it.

Neo-K 182

ok. let me explain some things.

for the handlings, i took silvers handings that he already made and modified them to suit the cars the way i thought.

Challenger: the scraping, no matter what i did, i couldn't get the car to look good enough and get rid of the scraping. the only thing you can do is raize the colfile. as for the 4WD, i didn't realize that that was there, but just change it to R. i was rushing to get these done so i expected to see some mistakes. and yes you should see through the scoop. thats the way it was made. and as for the scraping. it's the col file not the handling cause i couldn't get rid of it either.

General Lee: yes i know the mass is crazy, i wanted it to be able to plow through things and have a crazy handling, as what a few people asked me to do, including silver. so i set off to make a crazy handling, hence the reason why it's fast as hell, crazy to handle, and can plow through most smaller cars. if you want to change it by all means do. i just wanted to make a crazy handling so i set the mass high. and as for the acceleration, yeah i guess it is a bit fast, but thats how i ment it to be.

The number on the side I can say is because silver took a shortcut of creating polys to make the numbers instead of textures. The polies aren't properly in line with the actualy body thus the wierdness. Anyway I haven't tried it ingame but from what pisnnapalm has said you need to fix some things to make this the best General Lee made. The col problem could be the actual cuban because I've always had problems of scraping when using the cuban as my chosen car slot so its the vehicle slot that is part of the problem.

Aside from whats been mentioned great work guys. I have one bit to add about the General, the accent piece on the lower doors&body wasnt on the car in the show. I cant wait to try this out, I think I may wait and see if we get a slightly updated version.

The way I am doing it will seem strange to many, I will be replacing the Top Fun Van with The General. I have the FnF and 2F2F Chargers in in place of two of the vans so it keeps with my theme smile.gif

I must Apologise, You see the Errors that PisnNapalm said about the General Lee and the Challenger are mainly because i was rushing to get these cars released, since so many people wanted them

however, ive gone back and fixed everything that PisnNapalm pointed out

-I Acidentally put in the wrong TXD in the Challenger .rar, it has the textures for the old wheels not the new ones, easy fix

-The 01 on both doors are now sitting flush with the doors and are straight

-the inner sides of the wheels are now black, and theres a new texture for the wheels witch isn't offcenter

-the ped_frontseat dummy was moved forward, therefore tommy is sitting on the seat, not inside it

ive fixed and updated the files

Please Download the .rar files again to get the new fixed cars

If you are fixing the Challenger, replace the TXD, if you are fixing the Charger, replace both the .dff and .txd

heres the download links again

Wo0t!! I'm getting them now. smile.gifrah.gif

EDIT::

This is a great improvement over the first release. But... You knew there was a but didn't ya? wink.gif

Just a few minor things. That is if ya want to tweak it further. If ya don't, then that's fine too. I'm still gonna have fun with this car. colgate.gif

1. THe numbers still need more work. There seems to be parts missing. Look at the white border.

user posted image

user posted image

2. The front can use some tweaking. There's polies clipping through from the hood. Also the R/T seems to be hanging in mid air.

user posted image

3. There is something funky with the textures on the bottom of the panel behind the front tires. They don't match the color of the rest of the rocker panel.

Here is my handling line for the General Lee.

1900.0	2.00	4.40	1.30	0.00	0.00	-0.30	70	1.00	0.90	0.52	4	3000.00	40.00	R	P	11.00	0.52	0	30.00	1.15	0.20	0.37	0.50	95000	0.18	-0.13	0.50	0.40	1200102	1	0

I lowered the car a little bit, and tweaked some other settings. The tires are a bit stickier and the acceleration is a tad slower, but you'll still spin out around corners in a hurry. It's got good straight ahead speed when ya need it. sly.gif

I'm gonna keep this one in my game for a good long time I think. cookie.gifcookie.gif

The rockers were in the eariler episodes (I have the 1st season on DVD). The same goes for the flags on the trunk.

This was posted in the WIP thread:

have you looked in to seeing if you can change the horn sound file to the one from the show maybe?
You may want to check this out (4MB video, divx required).

Note: the audio has not been modified from the game at all.
