The Untouchable

Nice going, wilcooldemaat! biggrin.gif The rest of the game should be a breeze now biggrin.gif

Ah, and i'm glad someone pointed out the link to this topic and the clothes one being at the top of the board, i didn't realise tounge2.gif

Thanks for bumping the topic aswell people biggrin.gif

i beat it, with no gas left, zero...

no white left in the bar

none... i thought i did it perfectly too, no margin for error

luckiest person ever, im so happy i'll never have to ever do that worthless mission again.

sorry to brag, i just barely beat it, and when you guys beat it you'll want to do the same.

Gettinmiggewitit

thanks for the guide. i've done it about 10 times and i almost beat it.

on my last try i landed on thr roof. about 10 feet from the red marker, so i had to move it a little bit. well, about 1/2 a second on the X button and i was out of fuel. how's that for bad luck??

I don't know why everyone bad-mouths this mission so much. For one thing, anything involving Zero, aka David Cross, one of the funniest people alive, is awesome. Also, it is a fun mission, shooting moving viechles from a small plane is great. And it isn't really that hard. Or at least, I completed it on my first try, when I tried it just to see how hard it really was. How can this mission cause so many people so many problems??? It took me 10 minutes. Getting all gold in the driving school, however....has taken me hours, and on a few of those cursed tasks I don't see how I'm going to make it. I guess people have different strengths or something.

WOOt! FINALLY BEAT THIS MISSION!!!

(Spoilers below, obviously)

For those who say they beat this in one or two tries, well, I'm not calling you a liar, but... um... uh... I don't know how to finish that sentence. wink.gif I'm not usually a noob, my hardest missions before this was the Smoke train mission (about 6 tries) and the liquor store bank robbery (only cos those damn ATVs kept flipping). No other mission has taken me more than two or three tries.

That said, I'm almost through SF, and this mission was mind-bogglingly difficult. I tried it between 150-200 times, and spent about 3 days on it before I beat it... not 24 hour periods, but all my GTA time (2-3 hours a day) was spent on this ONE MISSION for about 3 days.

The guide is a good intro to the mission, but it's pretty much everything you'll learn after about 30 tries on your own. biggrin.gif

For me the real trick was Intellicow's strat, but only in moderation. At first I tried waiting at various intersections.. it's good because it doesn't cost fuel, but often you end up in the wrong place and have to waste fuel anyway trying to catch up to them. Also, if you're mostly out of fuel before the last two couriers anyway, waiting isn't going to help.

For me the trick was using the typical strat outlined in the guide in order to get to the last van with half my fuel left... then WAITING for the last van to drive by me.

A few points of advice:

- Learn to kill the first three couriers without landing or using almost any fuel. The first two you should be able to kill on the same swoop, or AT LEAST without crashing or landing. If not, self-destruct and start over.

- Don't ever use the X button unless you have to, learn to glide without ever hitting right or left on the analog.

- Decrease speed ([ ]) when approaching a target, but don't land. I'm not sure how the original poster managed to keep landing and taking off, but for me taking off uses up more fuel than any other manuever. Also, approach from high if possible (especially on the 2nd van, he's usually downhill from you), your guns auto-target and can shoot at a really sharp downwards angle.

- Learn the area between the second van's usual locations and the Sanchez's usual locations. You should use a little fuel getting up the hills over Queens and then glide over the baseball field in front of Zero's.

- Don't give up. Honestly, it seems freakin impossible, and understand what you're up against. THIS MISSION IS 66% LUCK! 33% is flying skill, but as crappy as it sounds, I was flying as well on my 80th try as I was on my last try (ie, perfect, no crashes, no landings, etc). It's STILL more important that the couriers JUST HAPPEN to drive in right areas at the right times...

- HOWEVER. I finally thwarted the luck part of it by utilizing the "Wait" strat. I had PERFECT luck for the first 4 couriers... everything lined up perfectly and I killed the first four without even reaching 1/2 fuel. I was AMAZED. I look at the map, and surprise, the last courier is blocks away and going in the opposite direction. suicidal.gif

[Note for you lucky knuckleheads who beat it in 3-4 tries: if the last van just HAPPENS to be going in the wrong direction, there is NO WAY you can follow it and still win.]

I said f*ck it.. there was no way I was going to come that close again. I remembered Intellicow's advice and just stopped on a street downtown. It took about half an hour, but the van finally drove by me! I took it out easily, flew straight on through Doherty, and beat the mission with more than 1/4 of my fuel left. biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

I'm so unbelievably relieved, and so unbelievably pissed at Rockstar. Ok... either have random paths and let us win when we kill the last courier -OR- have set paths and make us come all the way home to win. Doing both was just BRUTAL because you need to both BE PERFECT for the first 3 and have PERFECT LUCK for the last 2.

Again, sorry to rant I'm just so psyched. Last advice again: Learn to be PERFECT for the first three couriers, and if you think you can wait for the last van, just wait, don't chase it somewhere stupid.

I agree, David Cross is freakin amazing which is EXACTLY WHY I swore I'd finish the Zero missions before moving on to Las Venturas. The fact remains that this is the hardest sonafabiatch mission in the game. tounge.gif

I've actually considered sending him fanmail complaining about this GTA level just to be annoying. High pitched voice: "Excuse me, on the Itchy and Scratchy CD-ROM, is there a way to escape the castle without using the wizard's key?"

Exactly. I am the exact opposite... I beat the school with silvers and bronzes in my first sitting. I got the golds with just a little bit more effort. It took me LITERALLY 150+ tries to beat Supply Lines (although that includes dozens of, "Oh look, took too big of a turn, SELf-DESTRUCT!").

I hate this mission. I've never liked any of the RC missions in any of the GTA's. This one is the worst though! It's like flying drunk. And why in the hell did they put the gun control on the same hand as the stick? i know! To piss me off!

If I could skip this mission I would.

Wow. You know, in all honesty, I found that the Haitian mission in VC where you use the RC Barons to drop bombs on the Cubans was a lot tougher than Supply Lines....the targets moved faster, they shot down your plane far easier, etc. Maybe we should swap memory cards for a bit... I'll beat SL for you, and you take care of Burn n' Lap and City Slickin' for me, eh?

Gettinmiggewitit

i actually somewhat enjoyed the 2 RC missions i can remember from VC. not sure if there are more than those 2 or not. the ones i remember are the helicopter that you need to plant the bombs at the building site with and the one with the plane that you have to drop the bombs on cubans boats.

anyways, those weren't too bad, but this one just sucked. can't remember if those 2 were timed, but they definitely allowed more time the supply lines. i don't see how untouchable beat it without using the stop and wait trick on the last 2 vehicles.

I don't know what to tell you man, I beat it on the first try (never used codes) and styill thought it was way to easy for a final mission. I mean GTA3's took me like 10 times. I thought this one was kinda dumb.

looool, i finished this mission yesterday at about the 5th try, but i stress to easily, at about 3rd try i was really pissed!!

and now i find this guide, suicidal.gif lol, gonna search better the forum when im stuck

tounge2.giftounge2.gif

although that now, when i think about it sarcasm.gif , i was a lucky sob, because i just went after the couriers, didnt even use the stop and wait technique cool.gif

Okay- 50+ times and this guide just DOESN'T WORK for me. It doesn't matter how effectively I take out the first three (I can nail all 3 strafing from the air without landing or turning around), there IS NOT ENOUGH FUEL to get to the other two and get back. Even if I fly steady and straight I drop from approximately 7/8 fuel to a quarter just getting to target 4. There has to be another angle to this mission!

I've had lots of luck strafing from the air and not even landing, so I'm going to try that angle.

Edited by vanian
Yup I never have enough fuel to get back, even though I get to the sanchez at about the same time he says "About half left" which should give me plenty of time, but even flying flawlessly for the remainder doesn't leave me with enough fuel. I am going to sleep.

I found out that I needed a combination of luck and patience. (And I need a new cover for my game because it went flying in high speed and hit the floor! angry.giftounge.gifbiggrin.gif )

I've gotten pretty good at taking out the first 3 targets. I landed for all 3. Then I got lucky and got the 4th target (the motorcycle) pretty close to Zero's shop. The last target was then too far away for the fuel to last all the way there and back so i just parked the plane on the ground and waited and waited and waited for about 30 minutes (doing other things) and the car actually came almost to where I was. I flew the plane over to it and took it out and flew back to Zero. But although I was just a few houses away from Zero I almost ran out of fuel. Rockstar must have forgotten to test this mission before the release! angry.gif

The Untouchable

This guide does work... Just not for everyone. I'm sure if you read it thoroughly enough and changed parts of it to suit your situation it would help you. So don't go saying it doesn't work because it does. I even tried it out myself two days ago when i was doing the mission for a friend and it took me three tries (i was doing it from memory, i didn't have the guide infront of me).

Good job to everyone who did this mission though tounge2.gif

The Untouchable
75 tries. This "guide" is BS. There is no way there is enough fuel to get back, ever.

You're not making much sense. The guide isn't "BS" because its helped a lot of people. I would think that if you were doing the mission by the guide, word for word, you should of tried a new method by now if you're on your 75th try. This guide has helped more people than it hasn't so that should say something.

The guide is there to help, not do the mission for you.
