I went bought a new copy off Ebay after disc errors would not go away. However its a platinum version compared to my original. When you try to load saved game data it gives an error saying saved game data not compatible with this version of SA. Help. Cant be arsed playing through from the start again!!

I know, that is quite weird, because platinum versions of a game are usually the exact same, no difference, I ponder why R* decided old san andreas savegames would be uncompatible with Platinum.

On topic, I recently started getting disc read errors and got really concerned, so I binned the disc, and got another one from a pre-owned shop.

I have this trouble on a PC..

"Failed to authenticate disc" massage shows up. Luckily not all the time but a lot. So I have to reinsert CD/DVD few times before it works.

Consider having this game for quite some time now I didn't have this problem before, and not all DVD games like that either. Have it with Splinter Cell Chaos Theory too; although, to mention that my drive is fine. Well, burns DVDs w/o any errors whatsoever.

I read before that OS uses SecuROM for prodection.. "against fraud" supposedly. More Here So now it makes me think that the data on the DVDs get more and more sensitive due to unprotected and pirate copies of contents that OS has problem reading cd's, which causes errors pop-ups. In my opinion anyway.

Other than that, I take drives out to clean laser lens once in a while. You gonna have to do it regardless. It's even recommended to clean it with a little cotton swab dipped in alcohol, OR there are "Laser Lens CD cleaners" that guarantee "your lens to be dust and trouble free" sarcasm.gif
