Area 51

pizza guy

I've been following Area 51 for some time now, (The Area in Nevada, not the Game...) I know it has the massive runway at it and a few buildings, but there is also a 1 mile exclusion zone, where if you trespass on it the troops stationed in that area are allowed to shoot you on sight.

There is also an all Weather helicopter that patrols the area, now If the place is no big deal why would the military have something like that patrolling?

Personally I'm tempted to say myself that the place was used for Nuclear testing, and people are forbidden to go there for fear of radiation poisoning.

Or, that it is a Experimental site, used for testing new planes and things like that.

What are your views on this subject?

Posts answers and pictures, hopefully we will all be able to piece together some idea of what Area 51 is used for. bbq.gif

There's aliens loaded on PCP and the military is hiding them from the public.

I dunno, I just like the Alienware Area 51 laptop ph34r.gif

the US govonment is full of sh!+, everyone knows that, they probably have some chemical warheads or aliens in there, surely if a large amount of people all charged at it, they would get through and see right?

Yeah, I'm very interested in this kinda stuff aswell.

I think its very possible there are chemical and nuclear weapons in there. America would have to be keeping them somewhere.

I think its possible there are alien corpses in there aswell.

I have heard its actually not allowed to be called Area 51 now?

Its actually called something else. My mate watched a doco about it a while ago. I cant remember what he said though.

I am also very intrested in this. I once saw a documentary about Area51. It seems a lot of airplanes (from 1960-1980) were hidden near Are51. You can dig some parts up if you go near enough. Also, they always do something ph34r.gif when the sattelites are not flying over Area51.

They said that the things of an UFO that are found at Roswell were moved to Area51 so maybe it has something to do with aliens and UFO's.

Also in the cold war, alot of top secret things were done there.

A lot of ph34r.gif things have been done at Area 51. But we'll never know, they will never reveal all secrets about it. But we can discuss all things about it. Conspiracy theories and such but we'll never know.

Well, since the US does have missile silos scattered all over the US, why would they have this base hidden for the sole purpose to hide more weapons?

They proly test sh*t there...like experimental planes.

Could be, or they'll test a nuclear bomb on us. sigh.gif

But yeah, Its something I always wanted to know. But the government will never let us know. They hide way too many things from the public.

I think the official designation is Groom Lake.

It's where the US Government is hiding the Stargate, Aliens, the crashed attack craft from ID4, and Doc Brown's Delorean (when it's not on display at Universal Studios).

biggrin.gif

Personally I think something is going on down there. Alien or otherwise.

Who says the guards can shoot you on sight? And if they can, is this the norm for extra-sensitive military bases.

Aliens schmaliens. What is established fact is that the base is (or was) a secret experimental base for the Air Force, just as the Army and the Navy have theirs too. Mostly the aircraft tested there are kept secret because they are so embarassingly crap.

confused.gif The base was established in 1955, and the no fly zone was mentioned at the time, the thing about the guards shooting on sight I belive has actually been put on one of the signs on the outskirts of Area 51, saying do not trespass past this point, if you do and you are seen you can be shot on sight. So obviously something of importance is kept there.

There's gotta be UFO's or Dead/Hidden Aliens stored there. I was watching DC and it showed some dude who worked there said he saw odd looking plate shape's and when it went into the air you could'nt hear it(UFO). And they show pictures of little things(lights , Small dots) flying over area 51. The world may bever know turn.gif

Well I haven't really followed Area 51 but here's my little theory about it. I think they keep in Area 51 things they feel that the ordinary public is not ready for such as advanced technology, aliens whatever else fits under that criteria. I always thought that back in like the 90's the had the technology of what we have today.

Area 51 is an interesting topic, makes your mind think. We may never know what is in that base and I don't think they will ever reveal what is in the base, unless we storm it alien.gif

My Uncle Dean Minnet, who is in USAF, said that it is mainly for:

test flights

experimental test flights

jet engine speed testing

duribility testing

land rocket speed testing (12mile runway*)

rocket damage testing

rocket design

jet design

jet engine design

bomb design

bomb testing

From what I kno he is high up in rank...he has never been to AREA 51 from what I know, but, this is what he told me. I dont know if it is the truth (he cant even tell me what he did at Operation "Desert Storm"), I dont even know if he knows if it is the truth?

Air Force for me next summer rah.gif Bootcamp is going to suck dontgetit.gif

Firstly - if you like this type of thing, then dig out a book called Travels In Dreamland by Phil Patton. It's all about his journey there and what he saw, who he talked to, and what he believes goes on there.

You used to be able to camp out on a nearby ridge which overlooked the base and look out for alleged UFO activity, but they then increased the perimeter of their fencing and closed off the whole area. Whether this was just because all the Ufologists were just being a nuisance, or whether there is something they want to hide, is debatable.

One thing is for sure - the locals make a bit of money out of it all. There's an inn called the Little Alie-inn, or something along those lines. They'll tell you tales about strange bright lights for as long as you will listen, by all accounts.

I think the main problem is that even if there was secret technology there, or even alien technology, this would never be disclosed until the appropriate people were ready for it to be disclosed. This is because a lot of the people who camp out around that base are, frankly mad. Bonkers. Generally unbelievable to any normal member of the public. And this is very convenient for the USAF, who can just point at these people and laugh, creating a very effective smokescreen.

They did test the F117A Stealth Fighter there, I believe. So there certainly used to be secret technology developed there. They had to time the flights of the aircraft carefully, so no satellites of foreign powers detected them. But whether there is anything there now, is uncertain.

Makes a fun debate though.

IIRC, the SR71 Blackbird was also born at Groom Lake, as well as the 117. So it certainly has precedence of secret testing.

Whatever goes on at Area 51, the statistics are startling. The total exclusion zone around the base is the size of Switzerland. The runway is enormous. Workers flown and bussed in every day, en masse. Soviet satellite images suggest that whole sections of the base of the nearest hill are actually doors - like giant hangar doors, presumably leading into the fortified/maximum security section underground.

Most recent reports suggest that Groom Lake is dead now, though. It bustled with activity and mystery and strange noises and lights of experimental aircraft at night until the mid 1990's, but now it's quiet and with apparently few staff. It's rumoured that this type of secret development work has been transferred to other, more secret bases. I guess Area 51 just got too high profile for it's own good. confused.gif

Wheelman, JANET flights were operating as of July 2002, if that says anything. AFAIK JANET is the callsign of the three flights two and from A51 to Las Vegas Int'l Airport.

There's an island in the mouth of the Amazon river the size of Switzerland (Belem), but, yeah, that's a pretty big exclusion zone.

The trouble with seeing lights is that down the ages, people have seen 'strange' goings on in the sky and ascribed it to things that existed in the culture at the time. Angels and devils long ago, Martians and Moon-dwellers in the late 19th/early 20th Century. Only after WWII and the advent of space flight do we really get into UFOlogy big time. There are crazes for these things; someone sees lights, and a rash of lights are seen; someone is 'abducted' and lo and behold, abductions are the new black (Though admittedly, its takes a lot of balls to claim you were abducted.) The telling thing about these claims is that the victims aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. Dunno, maybe aliens are fascinated by people who eat poor food, watch too many horror flicks and have a Dream Catcher suspended over their bed?

As stated, the base was serviced by a great number of workers - not the best way to keep secrets. Granted, the easiest secrets to keep (apart from those held by Mum) are those held by an organisation like the Military, where the workers feel they are part of a just cause and are doing it for the greater community (the Carrot) and where the penalties are severe and wide-ranging (the Stick). However, with so many workers, a certain number of them would find out if there were any Aliens, and a proportion of those would blab what they knew. And if there were real Aliens, it would be quite simply the biggest story EVER, meaning lots of cash to be earned for your story.

No, it was just a weather balloon which got blown (sorry) out all proportion.

However, with so many workers, a certain number of them would find out if there were any Aliens, and a proportion of those would blab what they knew.

I would tend to lean towards the same idea.

But, playing Dick Advocaat for a moment, it is widely documented that people who worked on the base were highly isolated from each other. There were different levels of clearance, with people segmented and compartmentalised and only working on their own particular 'thing'. In fact, this seems to be a format which is common throughout much of the US secret project work over the past 30 years, particularly with Lockheed and their 'skunk works'.

Given such rigidly placed segmentalism (not sure if that is a word but I like it), is it not possible that the alien technology workers were simply never in contact with other workers, and thus never divulged any secrets to them?

And it is alleged that they were given quite serious threats if they ever did speak to the press. Their families, for example, were often suggested as being targets of the military's wrath if they gave away secrets. For a decent citizen, the threat of violence against family would simply add to threats upon their own person, and keep their mouths firmly shut.

Just a thought.
