ShockyLocke` 0
no, i play Counter Strike all the time and it never happens, i also play Battlefield 1942 and use 800x600 res. for all my games. Ive never had this problem with any of my games before
gav1100 0
it sounds as if its a fault in your memory. have you tried re-installing the game? Or possably re-seating your RAM? if it had happened with other games then i would hae said definatly memory. but since it only happened with one game, im not too sure. Try un-installing one of ur other games, un-installing vice, then re-installing vice. If this works then it means some of ur RAM is corrupt.
ShockyLocke` 0
i uninstalled one of my games then reinstalled GTA, i still get the sameeee problem
Neo-Gilgamesh 0
I have gotten this problem as well. I'll post my specs as well while I'm at it. Intel P4 2.8gHZ w/HT 1gig RAM (There's more to it than just that, but that involves digging up the exact specs) Geforce FX 5200 128meg Windows XP Pro I have narrowed it down to the video card or the HTing, because other people I've seen having this problem have the same video card or also have HTing. Esecially, you play the game for a bit, it goes on fine, then BAM, game heads to a stop error without notice so quickly you can't read the error, and you've got a hard reset. It's possible that the video card drivers need to be rolled back, though, that doesn't sound right since my GF4 MX440 worked just fine with the game. Someone mentioned overheating before on the video card. Also possible.
gav1100 0
is it possable to take a screenshot of the error message?
Mr.X 0
u've damaged RAM probably or graphic card..........hmmmm may tension in your feeder falls down? is it possable to take a screenshot of the error message? take a picture
Neo-Gilgamesh 0
is it possable to take a screenshot of the error message? Nope, you can't even see the error message. It literally flashes for a quick second before the system reboots. The screen doesn't turn blue, but the font and the length of the default message during a stop error is there. Anyways, I think I found the problem. GTA:VC doesn't like Hyper Threading. You have to disable this once you get into the game (multi-task, Task Manager, go to processes, right-click "gta-vc.exe", Set Affinity, and disable one of the CPU's. I don't know if people with dual processors have this problem, but VC just simply does not like Hyper Threading. It's a pain to do it everytime you start the game, but at least it works. Neo-Gilgamesh 0
*Double checks his RAM* 2x 512MB PC400 Dual Channel DDR RAM (Grand total of 1gig!) Could be the dual channeled RAM, but like I said before, everything else runs fine, and disabling HT for the program works. Maybe those specs will help out.
