CJ San Andreas
The NBA season officially tipped off last night with 2 Preseason Games in which the Sacramento Kings lost to the Golden State Warriors 79 - 97 and the Miami Heat lost to the Houston Rockets by the score of 75 - 85. immessedup17
I'll start posting here once it gets real close to the season beginning, and then probably once a day during the season. I'm a Bulls fan, so I'm really pulling for them this season. The youth might actually take that next step, and they have some veterans to help out. No more Pippen type veterans either. I'm also liking Houston this year, because I am a McGrady fan, and that trade really helped them out. Captain Keyes
Go Dallas Mavericks Hey I'm a Mavs fan too... where do you live? Speaking of the Mavs, over the summer I went to an exhibition game where I got to see rookies Devin Harris and Pavel Podolkzone (sp?) as well as Josh Howard play against the Chinese national team that went to the Olympics. Devin has some promise, and hopefully he and Marquis Daniels can be decent replacements for Nash. This is the year in which they will have a lot more defense with the acquistion of Erik Dampier and Nowitzki should average more points due to the trade that got rid of Antonie Walker, and not to mention the departure of Steve Nash who went to the Phoenix Suns. I look for Nowitzki and Finley to have opportunities to bring the Mavericks to where they belong, the 2005 NBA Finals! gizmo
All I have to say is Minnesota in the finals. If they could've picked up Fischer from the Lakers, then we would really be the best in the league, but we are still up there but Fischer would've put them over the top. Miami Heat or Detriot Pistons vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Those are my teams and have been ever since Miami was created..I'm not bandwaggoning, those will always be my teams. I think Antoine Walker wound up in the expansion draft for the new Charlotte team. None of my friends liked Walker, but Najera was a fan favorite around here. Yes I know the Mavericks traded Antawn Jamison. This was the actual trade: "Washington trades Jerry Stackhouse, Christian Laettner and the rights to No. 5 pick Devin Harris to Dallas for Antawn Jamison" . You are also wrong about Antonie Walker. He was traded. He was sent to the Atlanta Hawks, this was the actual trade: "Atlanta acquires Antoine Walker and Tony Delk from Dallas for Jason Terry, Alan Henderson and a future first-round pick. Not to mention the Dampier Trade: "Golden State re-signs Erick Dampier and trades him, along with Dan Dickau, Evan Eschmeyer and draft rights to Steve Logan, to Dallas for Eduardo Najera, Christian Laettner, draft rights to Luis Flores and Mladen Sekularac and two first-round picks" Edited October 12, 2004 by CJSanAndreas Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/149923-nba/#findComment-2046733 Share on other sites
noodles
I'm a Knicks fan. We were trying to get Erik Dampier but we obviously didn't. I think the Knicks, with the additions of Jamal Crawford and Jerome Williams and a chance for Lenny Wilkens to institute his system, can win the division this year. That's not going to be very hard though considiering the realignment of the divisions. We've got (this is just what I can remember off of the top of my head) a depleted New Jersey Nets team, expansion Charlotte Bobcats, Philidelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors, and other teams of that calibur in our division. immessedup17
Umm, I think you guys are purposely missing Miami. Any team with Shaq and Wade are going to compete. But the Knicks did get 2 good players in Crawford and Williams. Crawford just cost too much for the Bulls in their current rebuilding phase. Hinrich will do good though. Sorry dude, but the NBA has switched around the Divisions. The Heat are in the South East Division which includes the: Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Bobcats, Orlando Magic, and Washington Wizards. They traded for Walker(from Mavericks), Al Harrington (from Pacers), and they had two 1st Round Picks which were Josh Childress from Stanford and Josh Smith from an Atlanta High School. I mentioned the realignment of the divisions in my first post. Plus I would never short change a team that has Shaq on it. I'm a big fan of his. Considering all the weight he's lost (which shows he's coming into this season dedicated), and the rookie season Dwayne Wade had, the Miami Heat willbe a big force in the league. I don't know if you guys have heard about this but the NBA is entertaining the idea of having the 3 pointer be taken out of the game until the last five minutes. Don't expect it to be done this season, but they're going to implement it into the developmental leagues to see how it goes. CJ San Andreas
My Playoff Teams Predictions: Western Conference: 1. Dallas Mavericks 2. Denver Nuggets 3. Sacramento Kings 4. Houston Rockets 5. San Antonio Spurs 6. Minnesota Timberwolves 7. Utah Jazz 8. Memphis Grizzlies Eastern Conference: 1. Miami Heat 2. Detroit Pistons 3. New York Knicks 4. Indiana Pacers 5. Cleveland Cavaliers 6. Orlando Magic 7. Boston Celtics 8. Philadelphia 76ers **Any team that wins there division will automatically get the one of the 1st THREE seeds in the playoff bracket.... so lets say, that if the Mavs and Rockets had the 2 best records in the Western Conference, and the Mavs had the better record, then the Mavs would get the 1st seed and the Rockets would get the 4th seed. So if you were wondering why the Rockets are 4th that would be the reason Any comments? Yes, Sebastian Telfair was drafted by Portland. Yes, the Trail Blazers already have 2 good PGs, and they are: Damon Stoudamire & Nick Van Exel. Telfair should've gone to College since he needed to still develop into a better player, considering he can't shoot the 3 pointers that many PGs must do. immessedup17
Van Exel gets older every year, he won't be able to run the offense as well. And stoudamire can only come to the game straight half the games. He sure does love the herb. At least he ain't pulling a Ricky. Well, the Bulls actually won a game, but it was just preseason. The young guys have to pick it up this year. Tons of potential on these team. But at some point, you have to turn potential to skill, and knowledge of the game. I'm not sure Skiles is the man to do it, and there isn't much veteran presence on this team. So, we shall see. It's too early for me to do predictions and sh*t, but I'll do them in a week or so. Skiles doesn't have much experience with winning championships. Phil Jackson should really think about coming back with the Bulls whenever Skiles gets fired (which could be this year). immessedup17
Phil Jackson would not be a good coach with young players. He is the Dusty Baker of basketball. He knows how to coach big egos.
