You were doing a slappy boardslide? Don't do those, actually take time and effort to learn how to do a proper one.

Soon they're going to open a new skatepark where I live! colgate.gif I'm pretty excited about that. sly.gif Right now, the closest skatepark near me is 30 minutes away.

Has anyone been to the Skatepark of Tampa, which was one of the levels featured in THUG. I went to Florida on vacation last summer, and I went to the Skatepark of Tampa and Disney World. I also want to go to Kona one day.

Man I skated for the first time in months the other day. I just cruised around olling off crap, and catching some speed down some hills, but god damn, I am out of shape. Endurance wise, I need to skate way more.

Same here. Been skating a little bit on the weekends and my lungs hurt after awhile.

Curvy hills are the bomb.

Technical Difficulty
I can almost get the blunt to fakie down on my miniramp. I keep going into rock though. If I can fix that, then I'll be happy. That's a hard trick to get.

Sorry for the bump.

Nearly landed a kickflip the other day. I can't get the board high enough though.

Try popping higher. Usually when you yourself jump higher, then the board comes too. Remember to bring your legs up as well.

I have been skating more and more lately. I got my ollies, kickflips and such back, but am doing more and more old school tricks. Mostly freestyle, like spacewalking, endovers, 360s (the kind with out olling) and varials.

I'm suprised I haven't seen this topic yet. Yeah, I have been skating since about 1999. I think I might hang out here a bit more often smile.gif

Been dead in here for a bit.

I think I've sprained my knee or some sh*t skating the other week.

There's this bike trail going down a hill at a park my friends and I usually hang out at.

Anyways, me and a friend were going down at about the same time so I pushed off a bit more to get more speed to stay ahead of him causing me to go too fast on the first hard turn so I had to jump off, roll and f*cked my knee up.

I can't bend it fully such as when sitting on my knees without it hurting quite a bit. That's about it.

I went for a nice long skate yesterday with two of my mates, felt great to be out with them again. One of them is driving now and we drove to the two local towns which are slightly skateable.. Skating about, I can't do anything much any more. Still have nice tre's, got varial heelflips back (again), can't nose manual blocks properly any more which is a shame.. Wasn't trying too much, just watching some of the guys I used to skate with and how f*cking good they are now, and the new guys who are even better.. It's crazy, I wish there had been people like that around when I started, it was my mates and I along with a few more people who started the whole skate-scene around here so we had nobody to learn from. My mates might start skating more now after that, they enjoyed it too. My stamina is sh*te now though, jesus christ, I can barely skate for half an hour straight.

Thinking of investing in a new deck sometime soon, my tail is getting a bit dodgy. Had my whole set-up for ages now, goes to show how little I've been skating sad.gif

Anyone see Dias's 900 in the vert comp. on the xgames a little bit ago? Crazy stuff, yet he is still in 2nd.

In other news, I built a miniramp last year (total cost was about $300. 4' high, 10' wide with 2 layers of ply and 1 layer of masonite) and it got a little bit warped over the winter it seemed. Nothing that can't be fixed though.

I saw that but I am shocked that they did not show more of the skate street

BTW Phalanxe i'm doing the same thing this year i am going to build a mini ramp in my backyard about 5 feet in height and 12 feet in width and about 12 feet long. Can I get some help with your opinion. Hows your ramp been since you built it?

Bleh, they don't really show any skating on TV over here, and what is shown is on a dodgy channel which is always behind in the times.

yea I don't see any skateboarding here on TV unless it's the X Games people think it'll corrupt the youth or what not. I have no idea

I went out yesterday for about 3 hours, but couldn't stand the humidity. Doesn't matter much anyways, I don't have much endurance anymore. I need to start building up again confused.gif

As far as the mini ramp, it has held up very well. We hired a landscaping type service to level out and clear a field for us. Then, we put in some anti-weed products, and set up the mini ramp. We can take the ramp apart (3 pieces) and put it back together, just by taking off a few clamps on the bottom supports as well as the 2x4's on the sides. The ramp is super strong due to lots and lots of supports, 2 layers of ply, and one layer of masonite. In the winter, we either keep it stored in a garage, or cover it in a tarp. In the summer, it is better to keep it uncovered, unless it is going to rain. That way, the ramp won't warp from the heat (we learned the hard way). All in all, its an awesome little mini ramp. Good for some sessions when we crave a transition, but don't want to go to the skatepark. Definately worth the time and effort.

I'll post up some pictures of it being built and finished later on.

To beat the heat I try to skate at night. But then I also drink at night. Skating drunk is very fun, but hell do not do it in a backyard with breakable objects around.

Sounds like a really nice miniramp mate. What height is it? Mellow or harsh transition? I prefer little mellow things, just suits my style more, but either is coolios. Waiting for the pics wink.gif

Skating drunk is indeed fun, but only if you're tipsy.. Really can't skate if you're any more, once your balance gets f*cked.

skating drunk is a sure fire way to break something that's awesome though if you can put some drunk skate pics up that'd be funny

Its only a 3 foot mini with a pretty mellow tranny, but its tons of fun to session on. Still trying to find those pictures on my computer. They are buried somewhere in here. If I can't find 'em though, I'll just go get a few of the finished thing.
