Well, England wouldn't have all of a sudden thought they were superiror at every sport they verse us in, and now whenever we verse them in anything it's like "OMFG Ashes curse". It's some of the dumbest bullsh*t I have ever heard.

 

Well, Shane Warne is at the top of the ICC bowling rankings for the first time in 10 years, 2 points in front of Glenn McGrath. Ricky Ponting is 2nd by 3 points to Jaques Kallis in test batters.

 

Adam Gilchrist and Ponting make up first two spots of the ODI batsman, WIth Pidgeon first in bowling. Symmo is ranked second in ODI allrounders.

 

I'm surpprised no one mentioned that Australia won 20-6 over the poms on the weekend. -MDG

Oh, and about all your theories on "what-if this happened" and "what if that happened" and that they mean you could have come out of the Ashes series with a different result. Well, there are just as many arguments for that on our side of the camp too, bad LBWs, dropped catches, the sh*tty weather etc. One of the biggest being the rain in the 3rd test, if that hadn't have happened and our form had continued the series could have been won 3-1.

 

We all know the Aussie team are the best cricket team in the world and that the Ashes just didn't go your way, your performance against the World XI shows everyone that, but you don't have to keep digging it up and trying to come up with excuses for it.

I saw in the paper on the weekend, there was some exclusive theory on how bringing the player's families to England for the Ashes screwed up the potential and need for team bonding.

 

I'm sick of the damn excuses too. Realisitcally, it was a close series. Australia lost a match by 2 runs. A match we probably should have lost by a wider margin. However, give or take a few runs in that match, and the series winner would have been Australia. But there's no need for either side to be complaining. Overall it was an entertaining series to watch, and the post-match arguing and all this excess bullsh*t just ruins it.

 

At any rate, League > Cricket, as far as I'm concerned. And we're the undisputed champions at League, so it's all good in my books.

Well, a massive game of soccer for the Socceroos comes up tonight, and Australia has to win 2-0 or 3-1 and so on and so forth to advance to the World Cup for the first time in 31 years. They have to win by 2 goals. I hope they do it, but not caring much for soccer, it won't worry me if they don't.

I'm pumped. I've been waiting for this one since we lost 1-0 on the weekend. I reckon we can do it. 2-0. But we need an early goal, and good defence.

 

I hope it doesn't go into extra time or penalties though. I just can't see Australia holding on. It'd be an awesome thing for us to win in the shoot-out, though.

I've really enjoyed the soccer this year. Seeing as how we sucked so much at the tri-nations the A-league was a good reprieve. I hope we win tonight, the Melbourne crowd would have been better IMO. Is it on the TV?

OMG, what a game. When Viduka missed that penalty I thought that once again, our dreams would be snatched away at the last monent. but then Schwarzer produced yet another magnificent save. Guus Hiddink is a genious.

But yes, when Viduka missed the penalty, I started to panic, but we were never actually behind in penalties, seeing as we shot first and Schwarzer saved the first one he got.

Wow, that was quite an incredible match. Australia completely dominated once they got that first goal. They always deserved it, and I think that the Urguay coach ruined a great night for Australian soccer by throwing the ball at the back of Chipperfield's head, when the game was on the line. THat is just not acceptable, to have a coach throw a ball at an opposing player. Chipperfield also had a blinder.

 

Just incredible the way tht Schwarzer kept all game. -MDG

I'm not so sure. We could get any possible combination of opponents in our group of 4, and we only need to come in the top 2. So, say we get the USA, Iran and some other non-powerhouse, we do have a chance to make it to the top 16.

 

And we did play quite incredibly. If we keep up that form, who knows?

How bad would he have felt? Christ, what a time for the captain to clean miss a penalty. It's a good thing Shwarzer is a bloody champion.

 

In cricket news, our middle order sucks. As much as I hate to say it, Clarkey has to go. Hussey should be moved into the middle order when Langer comes back. I don't think Symmo is really an appropriate choice in Tests, either. Hodge looks a good prospect, though.

 

It's a good thing McGrath can bowl. 1/4, and the wicket was the key one of Gayle.

On closer inspection, he was pretty hard done-by in his run out. It was just a mix-up between him and Hodge, not really Symmo's fault at all.

I hate to agree, but Clarke has to make way. He needs to learn that if he can't get runs he'll get dropped. Hussey would be a great option to replace Clarke.

Yeah, but the headache hurts more for the selectors now that Hodge made 60 on debut. God, that would be a hard job. Clarke keeps on gettig chosen on potential rather than form, after he hit a century on debut, and has got close to a few 100's, but he really needs the break. He will fight back and it will be a new lesson learned.

 

Hussey is an awesome batsmen, and more than 3 300+ scores in county cricket shows that. He is a perfect attacking test batsmen. But now where to put Hodge.
