The ashes was an awesome series all round and full credit to the Aussie team who made the series as good as it was. I'm glad we came out with the trophy, I felt we deserved it. I can't wait until the next series.

Hey guys, look who decided to emerge from the shadows. I went to the Storm v Broncos match in Brisbane last week and had a good night seeing the Storm win at Suncorp for the second finals series in a row. This week the Storm take on the Cowboys in Sydney and even though we'll have Robbie Kearns and Billy Slater out I still think we will walk all over the cowgirls.

 

After that we take on the Eels for a chance at a grand final rematch with the Dragons. That is what I want to happen because I know that if one team can beat the Dragons this year it's the Storm as they've already beaten them twice this season. Go the Storm!

 

Nice to see the Swans still in contention and taking on the Saints this week. I'd love to see the Swans win their first ever flag this year and if they play the way they did during the regular season then it's a big possibility.

 

As for the Ashes, well done to England and just wait till the next series. That's all I have to say on that matter.

You got that right Smithy, and after tonight's great win against the Saints I really hope the Swans can do what they failed to back in '96. Here's hoping that Barry Hall will be able to play next week despite the small first quarter incident.

Swans got lucky in the last quartar. They got 4 lucky goals in 4 minutes. Why are they lucky? The ball bounced awkwardly (sometimes off people heads) right into their hands. After that there wasn't anything the Saints could do.

 

Barry Hall won't be playing in the grand final though. He will be suspended, if not, many will have assassination attempts on him. What he did was plain cheating. If he can't play within the rules, he shouldn't be playing at all.

Yeah, that game will be an absolute beauty to watch. The last game was good, and this should be even better. The swans should have won the last time, but there was a dumb free given against them. That should add to their desire to win. I think the swans will win, and I hope so too.

 

Well, the NQ Cowboys will be playing Parramatta next week to get a spot in the NRL Grand Final, after they fought off a big last hurrah by the Storm to scrape through. I think the Tigers will smash the Broncos tommorow arvo. -MDG

Congratulations to Ben Cousins of West Coast on his brownlow win. The best player in a Victorian team was Nick Dal Santo of St Kilda. He had a pretty good year, finishing only 2 votes behind cousins. What a difference one more great match would've had.

Great to see that Barry Hall will be playing this weekend. After all it was only a little tap that he gave the Saints player who just happened to carry on a fair bit to make it seem worse then what it was. The Swans deserve to win their first flag so let's hope that the best team on the day wins, instead of an umpiring decision determining the result.

 

Very disappointing to see the Storm get eliminated in the second week of the finals series for the third year in a row. This week I reckon that the Eels and Dragons will win so we will see the top two sides during the regular season face up in the grand final.

 

It's now official, the Gold Coast NRL Team will be named the Titans. I'm happy because that's the name I've always wanted.

He admitted what he did was stupid. It is only through a very stupid way of doing the tribunal that he is eligible to play. My question is, why were people saying that he didn't touch him (his mother for example), when he quite clearly made it obvious that what he did was stupid. He does not deserve to be playing.

I agree.

 

He punched a player, it shouldn't matter whether it was soft or hard. That's a judgement call, what's soft for one person can be hard for another. The fact is that he punched someone, and that's shouldn't be allowed. People during the year did the exact same thing and got suspended for it, it's a very inconsistent tribunal.

Exactly. Same goes for West Coast. Grand Final is sort of like an amnesty match for incidents within reason. Everyone hates Collingwood and didnt know who Cloke was, that is why it was funny rather than sad when he was suspended.

The Grand Final is only a couple hours away. Let's hope that Barry Hall gets punched in the guts and so he can complain about it causing Sydneys' loss for the next 4-5 months.

The word is that the AFL want Sydney to win because they are the only state yet to ever win one or something. West Coast have clearly been the best out of the two throughout the year. Swans haven't had any real injuries problems this year.

In more important news, Tigers snake an easy victory over the Dragons in the NRL. First time since 1989.

 

I predict the Eels will beat the Cowboys, and then also beat the Tigers. However I would be happier if Cowboys won, but it doesn't seem likely. Broncos winning would've made me happier even more so but Broncos always seem to go downhill at the end of the season.

Well, just to give you an idea of how the Tigers dominated, at halftime the Dragons had made 60 more tackles and had just 34% of the possession. If the Cowboys do that today, which will probably be impossible with a weakened pack, they will be in their first Grand Final. -MDG

The cowboys played the Eels Jayza, and finished just about 10 minutes ago. It was a very one sided affair. You may think I am saying the Eels won. YOu are wrong. For the first time in 10 years, the Cowboys have made the NRL Grand Final. They will face a red hot tigers outfit. It will be an incredible game, with two teams full of young and raw talent.

 

The Dragons made many errors, dropping the ball within 2 metres of scoring between the posts 2-5 times.

 

The cowboys romped the Eels, 29-0. -MDG
