So it seems that Matty Bowen will be used at dummy half in the Origin match to give Smithy a rest. Funny that QLD are slight favourites to win the series because I reckon that the Blues are more than capable of winning 2-1.

How do you think the tahs will go in Super 12's?

I think they have a legit shot at the title. They have overcome so many obstacles, like beating the Reds, but they are still yet to prove themselves against the other Super 12 heavyweights, the Crusaders. I went to the game where they were beat by them.

It has been a great year for them.

 

I think Cameron Smith deserves a spot in the Origin side at dummy half, not Matt Bowen, becasue Smithy is used to that position and is probably the most consistent hooker in the league. -MDG

Well, Queensland are favourites to win the first game, but the teams are equal for wining the series, at $1.90 each.

The Knights lost their 10th in a row. Equalling the record for a worst start to a season. Which the Roosters have held from way back in '66. This loss was a close one though, for all it matters.

I'll have the NRL/AFL stuff in when they are announced tommorrow night or wednesday arvo. I don't think there was many reports in the AFL this week. It makes my job a bit easier, but it means that I don't get to see much fighting.

I only managed 3/6 in the NRL tipping and the Storm slumped to 7th on the ladder. I suppose the only good thing is they're still in the 8 despite playing like sh*t lately.

 

I'm really looking forward to the Super 12 final because I think the Tahs have a real chance of winning. They only narrowly lost to the Crusaders earlier in the season and seem to really study their opposition well.

 

Mark Webber finally got a podium finish on the weekend at Monaco. He finished 3rd with his BMW Williams teammate Heidfeld coming 2nd.

Well, all I know is Josh Perry got 5 weeks with an early guilty plea, imagine if he contested the charge. He would have got like 12 weeks like CLint Newton or something.

 

That guy that spat on an Eels player got a 4 match ban, but that should be a lot more. If someone gets spat on, it is probably worse then being high tackled, because in most cases high tackles aren't intended, but you can't not intend to spit. I think 10 weeks would have done him well.

 

In the Baseball in america, if you get suspended in your first year of contention for the Hall of Fame, you cannot get in. Maybe something like this should be in place for Origin players who get suspended not being able to play, but only if it is a suspension for something like that guy that spat did. -MDG

One of the all time great origins. It was an incredible game. What more could you ask for, bruising defence, a big comeback, 3 field goals that made the difference, and Golden Point with an intercept to one of he most absorbing players around.

 

But what an effort by some players. Fitzgibbon 60 tackles, Hindmarsh and Bailey 45 each, 23 hitups for 220 metres and 20 tackles for Steve Price. All the debutantes played well. -MDG

Yeah, althugh people say it was a good game, I will be looking back and saying, "f*ck, we still lost." It was a great spectacle to see so many players put in mammoth efforts.

 

The NRL will expand in 2007 with the Gold Coast being accepted into the competition. I think the Central Coast Bears deserve a shot, but better luck next time. The name for the new team hasn't been decided, because the original Dolphins logo was already copyrighted. They will play a Carrara Stadium, where the Cowboys and Bulldogs clash today, but will then move into a $100M stadium that is yet to be built. -MDG

Well, apparently it is only going to be a 25,000 seat affair. Should be a state of the art field, considering it is only a League field. With the AFL, i would personally like to see another QLD team from further up north, or a western NSW team, maybe even an NT team.
